How many recent changes have been advancing the fun of this game? I would say almost none of them. Blizzard keeps adding more and more crowd control and annoying heroes. Here is a list of all the bad decisions Blizzard has made recently.
Brigitte: 2 more cc abilities, Shield bash especially as it is a death sentence to most heroes and has almost no counter. As for now she makes fights last way too long and it feels like it is just a one massive long brawl. No one wants to play against 400 hp dps and supports.
Moira: People hate playing against her, because she is hard to hit, can selfheal making her Super annoying to kill even at higher ranks. Her damage orb lasts for 10 seconds and always seems to find you.
Doomfist: Has 3 cc abilities, if you get hit By any one of them, you are almost 100% dead if df is even somewhat competent. Creates frustration when you play against him because there is almost nothing you can do to avoid his abilities if df is actually competent. Blizzard says one shot abilities and losing control of your hero are bad game design, then they add df like they never said such things.
Sombra: Has one of the most frustrating abilities of this game, hack. Even more annoying after recent changes. Most heroes have no counter play to it and are as good as dead after being hacked. As a Lucio main it makes me even more mad, but no one likes being hacked, especially when they know that it took almost 0 skill from Sombra to hack you. Almost every part of he kit is made to annoy others, she is the cyber bully hero of this game.
Junkrat: Not sure what Blizzard was thinking while making changes to this hero. getting “outplayed” By his mines was already frustrating before he had 2 of them. You actually lowered his skill floor, because now you can just toss mines without thinking about your escape. Rip-tire is impossible to counter with ults and only a few heroes can shoot it down, it takes a lot less skill from junkrat to get value from rip-tire than any other offensive ult. Even at the highest ranks Riptire rarely gets shot down.
Mercy: Sure she is now good, but it took a long time. She was broken for too long.
Dva: If dva is played 100% in pro play, does that make her balanced? No she is not balanced of course. A 600 hp hero with armour, who can deny all damage, while solo killing you is broken. I understand that if you nerf her the meta might turn into a lot more cancerous.
Zenyatta: Having a support that can spam a choke and instakill even a tank with almost no skill is broken. All you need to do is abuse angles and you have a good chance to kill anyone going through a choke point.
Yes I know that depending on the rank of the player some of these problems do not occur. If everyone had perfect aim, hitscan would be overpowered. Low skill players do not know how to abuse Zen or Dva or Doomfist.
These complaints are coming from master - top 500 that I play with.
For example I decided to try Reinhardt last night, only to realize how unfun it is. I got slept, knocked By other Rein, Bashed By Brigitte, knocked By doomfist and hit By other cc. I couldnt play the game because the ammount of cc in the game. At least on lucio I have a chance to Dodge the cc.
