KR/EN Callouts and Shotcalls (Sheet + Discord server)

Hello, my name is Lutional.

Before I get into the main topic, I want to introduce myself. I am a translator (KR/EN) for Skyfoxes (NA Contenders team). I am born Korean, and I have some experience with KR servers - I used to live in South Korea until Season 5 or so.

tl;dr for all you lazy people:

As I translate, I sometimes tend to forget or miss some terms, like specific OW terms for certain team comp or callout. I usually just get over it quickly by asking fellow member in a team or doing small bit of research on my own, but I thought that it would be quite handy if I were to have a list of advanced callouts, terms, and such. I did end up finding one online, but that sheet was in poor condition: outdated, hard to read (due to all the comments), and not credible in certain areas.

Some time later, I had a discussion in voice chat regarding gathering English and Korean speaking players and teaching them callouts in English and Korean. First I kind of thought of it as a joke, but as I thought about it, I thought it might be worth doing so. Personally speaking, no one would want to learn a new language if they’re forced to go through all the boring “Where is the bus stop?”, “How old are you?”, “Hello, my name is …” stuff. But if it’s a video game team comm, then people might be more interested in it. For some people (I.e. players living in KR, players in KR/EN mixed teams, players living in west coast, etc…) it might even be extremely useful. In fact, when I first tweeted about this, some T2, T3 players contacted me and showed their interest.

I am still in progress in building these two sheets. I will be able to finish off first draft of both documents by end of this week, but I am in much need of feedback, information, and suggestions (Especially in shotcalling and expressions).

Thank you for those reading this, and I greatly appreciate you if you are willing to help!

So your looking for callouts commonly made in a match?

A good start would be directions. So learning something like “tracer top left” or “genji behind” would be useful. Hero health is extremely inportant as well. So hanzo 1 hit, or mercy low, or even focus fire, like dive zen. Another important part is abilities. Sometimes, just telling someone that “zarya no personal” could lead to a winning push. The ones i hear most often are shield low, and things like no matrix, bubble in 4, and other tank cooldowns are all useful. Utility should also be called out, like “tracer slept”, and discord targets as well. Thats just to start, but later on other calls like nano me and ult tracking, like “watch for shatter” could be learned. Ultimately, its all about what speed your players learn at, and what they think is the most important.

Might also want to throw in things that might seem random. A lot of american players call winston “monkey,” and junkrat is shortened to junk. Idk how educated your players are in the language, so even the most basic things can help.

Not sure how much it helps but i tried lol

I’m not sure whether you took a look at the sheet itself… (Check my twitter pinned post for more details, since Blizzard ToS won’t allow me to post links here)

I have those covered. What I’m really looking for are people who can provide me with more shotcalling (but not limited by one situation - example from the sheet - taking initiation, holding faster tempo, etc…)

I’m mostly looking for decent tier players with fair amount of scrim experience or coaches to help me out here, although I would consider other people if I find out that they have good understanding of the game.
