5v5 seems to put Support in an important Spot in the upcoming game.
To the point where we really need like 4 more support to help even out the pool.
And we seem to still be talking about DPS and Tanks…
This isn’t looking promising.
(edit: wow, this is the most likes I think I gotten all year. Sad, but been that type of year. Yeah for 6 likes.)
(Edit: yea we doubled that. Awesome.)

I mean, worst comes to worst they just buff the SelfPeel or Damage on Supports.
And also could see Zen and Ana getting used primarily on Attack, and not Defence.

I really dont expect much to change, brig will likely become a more perma stay they said they want more flanking and solo play and brig is what shuts that down. you might see lucio in organized play. with only one tank brig zen will probably be played the most

Our Last Support hero was Bapt, who was released March 2019. (Who I still see people play him for DPS.)
We still only have 7 supports. (8 Tanks and 17(18) DPS)
And they have not hinted any Support heroes for OW2. (Sojourn been proven a DPS.)

The number of heroes isn’t really that important, compared to how enjoyable the playstyle is.
Tanks have 8 heroes currently, Supports have 7 currently.
But there’s like twice as many Support players.

Yeah, but those playstyle variations are being limited towards the DPS side of the pie.
It’s not surprising that people call this game DPSWatch.

I mean, I just see that as moving away from the RPG/MOBA Elements, and closer to a “Class Based Shooter”.
To me, Overwatch has a lot more in common with games like Team Fortress 2, than it does League of Legends.
For instance, this is more similar to Overwatch, to me. A game where healers were almost as lethal as any other “Hero”.

It’s more the fault that Overwatch messed up with the “Extra Health off Supports”.
But will have to see what they do with Overwatch 2.
Though if OW2 and a certain other game come out at the same time… well I know which I am buying:

Yeah, I wish to hear at least something about supports. At least some hope for a new support heroes…all I know from the info we got, that Mercy will be probably a “must pick”.

The only plant the bomb game i actually had fun in.
Its so sad, tho i doubt my playstyle of stabbing people from front would work in long run anyway.
Woooowowowooooooo
Sombra being only invisible hero i ever saw in fps game i could not get myself to play to long.

True, the only speculated hero to be a Support was the vigilante of Kanezaka, and that’s only because some people found a similar glowing effect on the map similar to the yellow biotic energy we are familiar with. Aside from that, most are speculated to either be Tanks or Damage heroes (especially if those four silhouettes are proven true).

There is another, but still waiting on more lore to confirm it.
The number of heroes is directly analogous to how enjoyable the playstyle is. The more variety you have within a role, the more someone is likely to find one of those niches fun. The correlation is a simple one.
Also I hate hate hate your fixation on turning supports into lite-dps. It’s boring. Terribly uninteresting and woefully uncreative. I don’t want to shoot mans as a primary objective. I want to support my teammates and make dope plays with powerful and unique utility. That’s interesting. That’s fun. Overwatch’s gunplay simply ain’t it.

So do I, but Grey Falcon’s suggestions are unfortunately realistic since the devs invested into 5v5 with little regard for caution. They told us that supports got ganked easily from the lack of peeling, so they tried things like increasing Ana’s damage. It was in the PvP livestream, I should of really kept a bookmark.
But making supports into a lite-dps would have to be the band-aid fix until the devs fix what they broke. CC and sustain-creep is taboo, so what other recourse is there for supports having stronger utility to directly protect themselves?

Sadly the situation is currently like if Snipers never existed for Supports.
Wrecking Ball is the example for Tanks, where Tanks are not just about Barriers.
Until we expand that bubble, I fear it will pop and OW will die first.

I want at least 5 new supports and 4 new tanks. Soujorn being another DPS gives me depression

I’m honestly under the impression that supports are there to hard pocket the single tank and to be fodder for flanking DPS/Tanks. So basically worse off then currently.

If the game was still focused around open format I could agree. It being focused on a role queue now the amount you can play factors in a bit more than what I feel you’re giving it credit.

To be fair, was depressed for the reasoning around Echo being a DPS.

The biggest worry for me both for the role and 5v5 as a whole is whether or not they gut the peeling ability of Supports.
An ideal scenario to me would be if they let the Brig/Lucio type of Support fill the some of the void left by the lack of a 2nd Tank. That’s a world where I could see 5v5 being better for all roles.
But if they go all the way with gutting Support peel on-top of everything else (And outside of Sleep Dart, it’s sounding like they plan to), it’s going to be a very bleak world for nearly everyone that isn’t a flanker.
