Seems to match up with with I’m experiencing.
Good too see people using the system to ban heroes that at generally problematic to the game and not just “strong”.
Even a Ball main, it is good that people are now able to say “no thanks”.

I played a 6v6 games last night where ball and sombra weren’t banned.
Someone beat me to Ball so I played widow.
Enemy picked Sombra. They swapped off after 2 fights because we just bullied them.

In my games so far, Ball was by far the most banned hero. Sombra was the 2nd most and Zarya the 3rd most. Granted this is just after 20 games but still. I’m curious what it will look like after 50.
Looking back on your list, it’s interesting to see Ball not being banned on some of his stronger maps, but banned on maps where he’s a bit meh.
And no Winston at all is weird.

If anyone’s really that cynical to believe I made this up then I can upload screenshots of all the matches’ bans, but I think for all our sakes, it’s probably better that I be given the benefit of the doubt here.

I assume Sombra’s going to get banned so I ban Doom or Ball - which one gets it depends on preferred characters as well as teammate bans. I will also attempt to ban Hog, depending on map and preferences. Occasionally I can squeeze in Pharah as third.
- I didn’t jot down each map. Sorry.
- Maybe I missed someone from the totals. I didn’t bother including any solo votes, though, since they’re pretty much anomalies anyway. For example, there was one game where the enemy team banned Sym for unknown reasons. Weird, but it’s gonna happen. I don’t know for a fact which map it was except that it wasn’t a KotH map.

Why are people so afraid of the Ball? Is it because it counters DVA and can attack the back line?

In M2T, Ball is strong. So strong that he got a mode-specific nerf.
Combine that with a universal Sombra ban et voila! Ball bans everywhere.

I figure he’s easy to counter with Sombra, Junk, Ana, Sym, and Torb. I don’t usually play comp, I play mostly QP, but that’s how we tend to deal with a very good Ball. My problem has always been DVA, Ana, & Moira…of course they have counters but you see them almost EVERY GAME!

Players in plar ust generally dont know how to play with ball so think hes a bad hero

Like I say, Sombra’s basically been removed. Her insanely high ban rate warps the other bans around her to an extent. Plus, people would really rather not swap to deal with Ball for the most part. Out of those characters you listed as options to deal with Ball, only Ana is popular, really.

ball doesn’t clash tank vs tank, ball usually avoids the tank and gets the supports.
supports are mad they can’t just healbot the tank and have to fight a enemy tank.
not fun fighting against tanks.
hence ball is banned.
or that he is a bad tank because no shield.
Just my guess because i have never seen a good ball unless my buddy smurfing on a new account.

There’s a 2nd tank in 6v6 unless you get saddled with the giga brain dps players that make it a 1-4-1

I played a few matches as a solo que last night in metals ranks and this was my experience:
- Sombra/Doom/Zarya/Mercy
- Sombra/Ana/Sojourn/Zarya
- Zarya/Doom/Sombra/Mei
- Sojourn/Mercy/Sombra/Zarya
- Pharah/Sigma/Soldier/Symmettra (ngl this was the weirdest ban set i’ve seen yet)
On a positive note i’ll say that we did have a Sombra player who indicated that they wanted to play her and the team removed her from their ban preferences. It was in vain however, because the other team opted to ban her. The majority of teammates I had were cooperative with ban sets and actively synced their votes to more closely match what teammates were choosing. That last match and the ban selections there were uh…all over the place, no cooperation there.

Hold on a second, I think you’ve made a typo; there’s three DPS in this one and only two can be banned from any one role.
But if someone like Pharah’s the typo, yeah, that’s a strange one alright.
