And having stacks go against solos and you will lose your remaining players in no time.
I’m at my rank and neither of those two things are the reason why I’m at my rank.
But boy, how unenjoyable are those games…
Look I’m playing comp because QP matchmaking is non existent, which I’m fine with since it’s QP (Well it kinda is comp lite now with the penalties, but anyway…).
I want to play with people around my skill level, and I’m sorry, but no, 2 ranks above or below mine is not my skill level.
(Almost) Every, Single, Game, involving stacks are an absolute awful experience for the solo queuer.
I know a real solo queue can’t be a thing, I know playing with friends is fun, but you have to let us choose if we want to play with stacks or not.
Allow us to opt out of those games. It might tank the queue times a bit for stacks, but they chose to play stacked, we didn’t chose to fill these stacks.

I would LOVE a solo queue only for comp, or maybe MAX 2 players with solos. (and mirror on both team the same number of DUOs…

I would love it too but, being honest here, it Just can’t be a thing with the actual playerbase numbers.
But there should be some compromise like an opt-out for those who don’t want to play with stacks. And tbh, aside from 4 stacks, the issue is not the number of players, it’s the rank disparity. This is just painful to deal with and ruin my will to play in no time.
You can’t treat QP like a comp lite, and comp like QP with icons. You have to have clear separations between those two, because it looks like none of those two modes are tailored to their target audience atm.

The playerbase numbers are far higher now than with OW1, so in theory it could be a thing.
I’m just not sure it would actually be of benefit outside of a limited time ranked mode.
They want to push the game down the play with friend and stack route. So it seems highly unlikely it’ll ever be a thing.
I’d love if blizzard would at least try solo queue as an experiment option one day.
Just like they had that 5 stack only thing some time ago.

They can push all day, but sometimes the devs have to face realities.
What happened to the stack only mode right? Cancelled. I don’t see why they can’t just do it for a mini season. Like comp dm
Yeah well the theory is something, but the reality is another.
There might be more players than OW1, but still not enough to justify a solo queue mode.
When you have to sit in queue for 10 minutes to be thrown in a 4 stack with 2 ranks apart when you are literally in the most average rank with the largest player pool, it’s either deliberate to cater for said stacks or a player numbers issue.
Anyway, an opt-out setting to be able to NOT be matched with stacks could be tried. It should not tank the stacks queue times this mutch providing enough solos don’t care about playing in these games.
I know for a fact I don’t like them, and I can’t be the only one.

Stacking is rewarded right now more than ever before. The devs want more players, solo queuers don’t bring their friends into the game that often, if at all, so they’re basically punished for that by the way the game works. Even people like Flats that play for a living have a far better win rate in a stack than solo. When he’s solo he loses more than he wins, when he stacks it’s the other way around. So unless you’re a GM1 level player you’re gonna have a hard time, and even GMs in general are having a hard time climbing if they go solo, let alone your average Gold player. Widest lobby I’ve seen was Gold 1 - Masters 5, I thought I was going crazy but there it was.
Tbh I’m not really sure about the fact that you win more games stacked rather than solos.
And honestly this isn’t even my point.
My point is that those games, were the is an absurd rank disparity are awful to PLAY as a solo player. I lose, I win some, like I said, those games are not the reason why I’m at my rank. But winning or losing those games just feel awful, because I do not enjoy playing them.

They already left. The only people playing comp remaining are terminally online people on their 5th account

That’s why i don’t play on weekends.
It’s all stacks and smurfs.
Awful.

It really wouldn’t be hard to trial a comp solo queue one season. See how well it plays out. They did it with 5 stacks.

This doesn’t work the way you think it does. This would make queue times for both opted out solos and grouped players much longer.
I doubt it will make it “much” longer. It will obviously be slightly longer, maybe even for opted out solos, but who cares when you can still opt back in if it’s not fast enough for you.
I’ll gladly lose a few more minutes in queue to avoid extremely unfun matches. Those matches, for me, really feels like wasted time anyway.
The bonus of the opt-out solution is that it will most likely not tank queue times as much as a solo queue only.

a solo queue CAN be a thing…blizz just doesn’t want to do it.
and we need to keep pressing them on it and at the very least, they owe us an explanation as to why and how that wont work.
At least it could be an experiment, yeah.
It seems however that it’s only going to get worse when the “Wide groups” get introduced.
Unless they deliberately prevent solos to fill such groups, by banning 4 stacks and only match duos with trios, we will most likely end up in those matches…
Solo/Duo queue really should be a thing. Been an issue since launch, but back then it would visibly show when you were up against big stacks. I have screenshots being against rank 70+ in a full stack in Season 1 back in 2016, and in the following season as well when 70+ became Master/GM

The explanation is simple. Around half the player base is solo queuers, the other half is group queuers. It’s already hard to find lobbies for stackers and it would be even harder if you separate them from solo queuers which are used as a “fill in the gaps” solution in a competitive team-based hero shooter where communication and synergy matter greatly (but usually the solo queuers are being treated poorly by the stackers unless they’re hard carrying the game).
Queue times are already bad because the devs keep ignoring the tank role except for when they buff Orisa or Zarya for no apparent reason other than the devs not playing their own game. They also make Ranked unrewarding and scuffed which makes existing players play less and less. Queue times would be hour-long if they create a dedicated solo queue so it would mean the death of the game. Therefore Blizzard won’t do that unless there’s literally no other way left to retain those players.

mmm…not sure i’m buying that’s half and half. I would say that’s a very lopsided guess.
There seems to be more and more evidence that at best its 75/25 in favor of the solo q-er. You can kinda deduce that from the nature of the feedback on here–most people seem to be solo q-ing and getting matched up against a stack.
As I’ve already said in a million other posts, this isnt’ even allowed in other pvp modes of other Blizzard games because it’s inherently unfair.
Also, you and I both came to the conculsion that a stacked group would have a much longer q time …which again–points to the vast majority of the player base being solo. That might not be what Blizz envsioned when they created this game–but it is what has happened. I’m arguing that this practice needs to end or that match q’s need to be separated.
