Keep shield gen

I posted something similar last night, so forgive the duplicate. I just couldn’t find my old post. I’ve been playing symmetra since season 1. The concept of the cat and mouse game with flankers has long been part of my game, which got stronger since the introduction of the shield generator. I have won many games by placing the shield gen in a very difficult to locate spot, and effectively deleting a flanker from the game for an extended duration while he hunts. I have no issue with any of the proposed changes for symmetra. I just ask that you find a way to keep a legacy build of some sort, so the concept of bait and hunt does not go away from symmetras game play. Thank you.

how will sym be useful for defense point B without SG ?

As an avid Sym player, I love SG too. To be honest, I don’t know if they’ll realistically pull off that new Ult they’ve been talking about (and yes, I’ve seen the picture too).

But here’s the problem. Shield Gen would almost be unfair with her new kit. The new teleporter will allow players to get into places they’ve never been before (Heck, Ana will be able to get into sniping nests for a change). But it can also be used to teleport turrets and whatnot, which leads me to believe the same goes for Shield Gen. Right now SG’s biggest weakness is that it it can of course, be destroyed, and it must be placed where Sym can easily reach. But if she’s able to teleport way out of reach, up where most heroes can’t get it, it’s rather unfair to the other team. I can think of so many places to put them where the enemy team would HAVE to always have a flyer like Pharah, D.Va, or maybe Widow, just to get rid of the Shield Gen.

It’s similar to how I’ll always place a SG or Teleporter on top of the elevator on Hollywood. I know it’s safe up here unless the enemy team gets a Pharah.

So while I LOVE SG… it may actually be too strong once these changes come through. But I could be wrong.

The way blizzard did the first rework was both unexpected and clever. They gave sym an alternate ultimate. The could do similar. Shield gen or shield wall. Either or. I’m just asking for preservation of a choice. I don’t mind if the choice is 99%-1%. I just want to keep the choice to use it.

Fyi, I have gotten shield gens and teleporters into some very hard to get to locations, by knowing where to hop and jump. I’m trying not to give away secrets, so I’ll say it this way. Some of my locations are akin to putting a torb turret in the air above cap point b on anubis. I’ve gotten hate mail from tracers who spent 4 minutes looking for my shield gen. I once saw a tracer, soldier, and for some reason road hog on a three man hunt for a shield gen they couldn’t find. That’s a win, because they forgot about the objective. I love doing that stuff. :slight_smile: I have also played games like, continuing to defend a teleporter location after 6 charges were used, so the enemy team distracts themselves with that, rather than capturing the point. I just don’t want to loose the deception part of symmetra’s game.

If I ever have to hear “The enemy has a shield generator!” again, I’m gonna have an aneurysm. No thanks.

They could remove the call out. :slight_smile: You’d eventually figure it out if you pay attention to health bars.
