Keep dying not knowing I am being hit because of sound

The new sound is terrible at conveying you are taking damage. Kirikos damage sounds like melee, moira’s damage is very hard to notice, symm turret damage is incredibly hard to notice, sojourns orb is very hard to hear and see is damaging you, and so on.

There are so many times I died and have no idea why and have to look at the kill feed or kill cam and find it was someone/something damaging me over time and I had no idea because the audio queues are missing or too quiet.

I almost never had this problem in OW1. I always knew why I died.

This is kind of a confusing post…

Big red indicator isn’t good enough. Chracter needs to shout “I’m being shot by XYZ!” to know what killed you.

At the very least turn on the death sound indicators for teammates, I’m not sure why they left that off by default, but when I hear it twice I’ll usually dip out and try to re group.

Sure thats nice. But the sound game is way worse in OW2.
Ult sounds can’t be heard over the whole map.
Junkrat tire sounds like its miles away while its right behind you.
And same with the dmg sounds on your character. It was way better in OW1.

Oooh, that’s what the complaint was about. Yeah, that’s definitely screwy. I legit never heard a D.va ult go off until it killed me. Thought it was momentary deafness on my part. Maybe not?

Wait… there’s an option for that? wtf?

Yes. There is one for dying enemies aswell as dying teammates, definetly turn that on. It helps so much.

To be honest, some weird things happen to sound in OW2. I can swear, for example, that in a few matches Ashe’s ult went off without her yell about it. So it’s just silence and suddenly Bob appears. Confirmed by my teammates. Other times it was loud and clear across the map.

They probably have a few bugs to fix regarding sounds.

Please tell me this is new to OW2 and I haven’t just been stupid for the past few hundred hours?

I reckon the direction indicator has gotten way worse now, probably even worse than sound

Afaik it was also in OW1.

Sometimes 2 dead sounds played for a single character, not sure if its my problem

Who plays with sound on? I have the opposite problem. The big red flashing on the screen whenever I take damage has me thinking I’m about to die and need to msg the healer even though I may have only taken 5 or 10 points of damage.

I agree, if you are taking another source of damage, even if it’s a small source. Then there’s so much clutter that I randomly died a few times in a Sojourn orb without being aware of it.

The game lost it’s crisp and sharp sounds that gave you so much crystal clear audio cues. Now it’s aural clutter with so many sounds just meshing in together.

Oh. THIS one. Already died a few times to it, because sounded far away and then it’s right around the corner.

At least the visual clutter has gotten a little better? So… we’re sorta on the right track.

Oh! is that what it is? I thought it was just me.

I used to play OW1 by sound as much as what I could see in front of me. Lately, I have found I have been needing to swivel my view all over trying to figure out where the enemy is.

Had a Widowmaker yesterday kill me and on the kill feed she had infrasight up. No one on my team or enemy team heard the ult line trigger.

You are not crazy. I had the same thing with pulse bomb where she will say “here goes nothing!” But the bomb beeping does not play. I thought it got eatten by d va, then I blew up.

You know, now that I think about it more… it explains why I’ve seen so many Pharahs being able to sneak up on the team without anyone hearing her jet engines.
