I’ve been playing this game since launch. I’ve taken a few breaks here and there when the game just gets too frustrating, but I’ve always been around 2900-3100. For 18 seasons, I’ve never gotten better.
My entire career I have ALWAYS floated between 2900-3100. I just cannot seem to improve. Watching videos. Watching my replays. Playing different heroes. For one brief moment last season, I did manage to get my tank SR to somewhere between 3500 and 3600. But this season, the game decided to place me back down in Diamond. And I’ve done nothing but fall since then.
This season has been particularly dreadful. I have over 20 hours of played time and I’ve done nothing but drop in every single role. My current ‘replay’ screen displays 9 losses and 1 win. And I know it’s been a lot more losses than that. I’ve been averaging one win every 6 to 7 games. It blows my mind considering how last season and this season are the same meta. But for some reason, this season, I’m doing nothing but lose, lose, lose.
Is anyone else feeling like this? Anyone else feel completely stuck? Or just having massive losing streaks this season? I know loss/win streaks are a ‘thing’. But I’ve never had this many losses this often ever. And in the same light, anyone else feel like they just CANNOT improve?
Should I just move on to another game? I really want to like this game and to continue playing it. But I end up not having fun and just leaving tilted.
I don’t know your specific set of circumstances but a ton of the casual players are gone. More players have smurfs to avoid crazy wait times.
I don’t know the actual numbers but I would think smurfs skew the numbers on rank average stats. Perhaps this makes sr gains and losses worse? idk.
On top of that people still playing are getting better, you have to improve at least the same rate ( faster if you want to climb ). If your skill stagnates you will fall in rank.

focus on one role, no one is good at all of them. No one. you probably play too many heroes. if you really want to climb, focus on like… 3… in the same role. like if you play dps, all you need to know are a flanker, a hit scan, pharah, and hanzo.
2900-3100 is one of the tar pits. its probably the single hardest zone to ‘escape’.
you have gotten better. the game ranked you too high to begin with, and the matchmaker is broken and so is the ladder and is at least partially responsible. there are people who hit GM on mercy back in season 6 and the matchmaker has just… kept them there. there are people who climbed 1000 SR on Moira this season, and they’ll stay where they got boosted to. but if you get matched wth someone boosted and they arent playing the easy OP heroes, you are pretty much a guaranteed loss. there’s nothing you can do about it though. You cant control when you have 2 mercy mains on one team.
there is also some core issue keepnig you out of diamond. generally that core issue is working with the team. how often do you take 1 v 1s compared to just following where the tanks go? how much are you peeling for the supports. how often do you just turn around and look behind you, to see where your teammates are standing? how often do you just stand and hide in between fights, or are you always shooting the enemy team for no reason?
heres a trick to climbing… play 3 games at a time. and thats it. the matchmaker almost always gves you good teammates for your first 3 games of the day. after that, if you won those games, the matchmaker will start giving you worse team mates. if you lost, it starts giving yuo better team mates.
mechanics, are just practice. do you have a 144hz monitor and a pc that can run steady 144 frames? do you have a gaming mouse, a big mouse pad?
Like wut? How can anyone else know that if not you?
