Just me, or is playing tank punshing and soul destroying?

I cant win games on tank. I’m totally mentally boomed.
DPS and support appear to be fine for me, but tank, it just feels like I get absolutely punished and destroyed every single match!

Play your tank like you would play a Damage-role hero. Lead your team, flank and destroy softer targets.

Don’t listen to Yin.

Yes, it’s a tragic state. The only way tank isn’t miserable is if you play in a group. If you’re solo, you’re going to be paired with a 3 stack or 4 stack that has zero clue and are only interested in tunnel visioning each other for no value.

i feel ya. im not a great player anyway, but i do like to flex often, and when i get tank…it’s a 50/50 shot that im going to either be any kind of effective at all, or going to just be a rag doll for the other team to toss around.

also, dont let it get to you, the game is in a bad state right now, and your bad days as a tank might be a result of the issues with matchmaking.

for me, as i said, im not a great player, but, i can find reasonable success by swapping to another tank when i see that im just getting tossed around.

i like playing rein, but i find he has a hard time closing the distance, because his shield just gets torn up too fast and then i have to go into hiding lest i be melted by (insert dps character here). sometimes, though, ive been able to really help the team by continually pushing the enemy team back. those are when it’s fun to be a rein

so…ive found fairly good success with zarya…granted, i dont like to play her as, “I” feel she is a bit OP right now…i mean, if I can have really good matches with her, that must mean she is overtuned. However, when going up against a bastion or a orissa, zarya seems to be a good counter.

Ive been playing more junker queen lately and i like her play style, if you can keep your bleeds up and the return healing, she can actually get in an mix it up fairly nicely…but, as the bad player I am, i tend to get a bit over zealous and push too far and get over my head… have to learn her.

the other character that i really enjoy is winston. ive also found good success on him when diving to the back line and harassing the supports and dps, especially if you have a crackpot widowmaker on the other team, winston can keep her on the move. the thing about winston that i like, also, is, i dont necessarily have to get an elim every time i jump in…the fact that I can get back there and take them out of play is just as good for me. jump pack in, mix it up…then jump back to my healers to get healed up…run around to a flank and do it again. he’s quite fun

the most important thing is to just not get frustrated. i know i tend to do that at times, but i have to just remember that, it’s just how the game is…and also that it is JUST A GAME…so play to have fun…enjoy the times you do good and try to learn from the times you dont.

sorry about the long post, and if that’s not what you were looking for…just thought id share, in case it helps

so, I am a solo queue player…could this be part of my experience being as bad as it is? how often are people queueing as a group? ever since they took out the ability to see the make up of the other team, you never know if you’re going up against a stack or not.

is the solo queue really a bad thing? perhaps that’s why im having so many horrible matches? im continually going up against teams?

Or you can just play support and have more control over the fate of your lobby.

*scuffs suzu into a wall

“I have chosen… death.” :skull_and_crossbones:

Tanks still dictate basically the entirety of the match and what other people in your team can pick.

If you have to babysit a Dva that insists on going against 3 beams, you are basically banned from picking any below average healing support.

Right now there is no support in any capacity that can dictate what their team picks, specially tanks. Its 99% of the time the other way around.

Sure and I’ll disagree with you. I’m a tank main if anything but as I’ve mentioned before, that 3 stack or 4 stack I invariably get paired up with aren’t going to get it done. And a tank without a team doesn’t win.

Now on support, I have way more agency than I do on tank. Even if my team isn’t the best, if I keep landing antis and have nano, I can turn a fight even with those bots only focusing on themselves.

It’s sad, but that’s how it is.
