Just Make Sombra a Full Fledged Support

She’s obviously been too difficult to balance as a stealth assassin character. She’s either broken or useless. Maybe stop banging your head against the wall and just change her into a support role

She can hack her teammates to lower cooldowns or something

Invisibility is better suited to a support to escape when a fight is going wrong

Maybe she can make someone else invisible. Invisible earth shatters would be fun

Leave her smg as it is. It’s useless as a DPS weapon but it’s perfectly fine as a support weapon

It feels bad seeing her go back and forth between pp and useless

I assume that by a supportive role, you mean that she would still be classified as DPS but would support the team like before?! Because without healing, Sombra cannot fit into the support role, and Sombra shouldn’t be able to heal.

However, I don’t agree with portraying hacking as a way to buff allies. Hacking always affects the enemy, never an ally.

Giving invisibility to an ally is very difficult. It would have to:
1. Be designed so that it doesn’t restrict the ally, meaning they could attack from invisibility without delay. Additionally, the invisibility would need to not be interrupted by attacks—at least for a short time—so the player doesn’t immediately reappear.
2. This would be absolutely overpowered. A Genji with invisibility? Even if it only lasted 2 seconds, it would be too powerful. Depending on how it functions, it would either be useless because it relies too heavily on coordination or so powerful that it would become a must-pick for every team.

Support sombra wont work. People would already rather die than step on a health pack next to them.

Just design her like Psylocke. Mahvel figured it out. No need to keep things complicated. It’s fine to admit you have no idea how to design a stealth hero.

the fact that Sombra still isnt Sombra is one of many reasons why I won’t be coming back.

No I mean actually move her to the support role and make her a support hero

Make virus a burst heal, maybe hacking lets whoever’s hacked heal whatever damage they deal?

No. No they wouldn’t. Also no. Did I mention no?

In conclusion, no.

“They’re coming back. All grouped up, too. I see Junkrat, Ana, Mercy… where’s the Som- okay, there she is. Wait… where’s the tank? Oh God, where’s the tank!?

Support Sombra would never work honestly, unless her Machine Pistol does damage to enemies and heals her teammates.

God no, Sombra and Psylocke are about as far apart as it gets.

Let Sombra keep her utility and hacker identity by going Support. Then add a Psylocke type to satisfy the assassin wanters.

Mirrorwatch Sombra was such a huge upgrade and made her so much less toxic.

They did try support sombra for Mirrorwatch where she was a overwatch agent. So that version of sombra is still in the game but she wasnt very strong if i remember right

Welp, I support this idea if it gets Sombra out of my games and she lets me play Juno.

Ok, so moving Sombra into the support role, as already mentioned, is only possible if Sombra can heal. A “virus” by its very name is already something negative, and yes, it could simply be renamed, but it would still need to heal so much that it’s practically immortality since it would be Sombra’s only source of healing and would also have a cooldown.

Giving the healing effect you mentioned to Hack could be possible, but the problem remains that Sombra can only heal through abilities with cooldowns. Furthermore, hacking is something that targets enemies and isn’t applied to allies. It just shows that you’d be forcing Sombra into a support role.

The most important point, however, is the healing itself. Why should a hacker be able to heal? Does Sombra hack reality and make your injuries disappear?

Technically, all of this is possible, but it would end up being exactly the same as it is now: it wouldn’t be Sombra. While I support the idea of giving Sombra back her supportive role as it was in OW1, she cannot be a support hero in a game with fixed role selection without the ability to heal.

The same applies to Symmetra, who was also a support hero once but couldn’t heal! She was also moved to DPS for the same reasons!

Invisibility is suited to a support that intends to play like a degenerate and just go for kills. Sombra would not make for a support anyone wants to deal with, we have enough degenerate support characters as is.

Sombra honestly had her more supportive DPS phase in mirrorwatch. Hack allies for attack speed and overhealth. Hack them for the same thing. Debuff enemy for 50% less dmg and small dot. Applies her own damage.

The thing is they can try to make a supportive DPS that only does DPS damage, but they have hence so far refused to do that. They will make tanky DPS such as Bastion, Mei, Reaper, and Venture. Yet they wil refuse to make supportive DPS.

Ironically, Marvel actually already made a support exactly with that. The Cloak/Dagger character does have an invisibility tool, but its linked to a 2sec invisibility duration and fairly long cooldown. It thematically fits for the character, but its literally a defensive tool not an attack tool.

Absolutely not lol. Stealth would be pretty trash on a support since she’ll just be running away while her team is dying. Let her go back to the utility DPS that she was always meant to be.

This! Sombra players and haters would much prefer Sombra just revert to her OW1 Utility but low lethality DPS. Maybe if 6v6 becomes the main gamemode then we can just revert her to her OW1 state?

I think you meant to reply to someone else because I never said that Sombra needs invisibility as a support hero. I was only responding to someone who wanted to rework the ability so that it could make others invisible and the problems that would cause.

The only statement I made regarding a support Sombra with normal invisibility was in reference to bringing her back to her OW1 version.

Shes a hacker, not tech support.
