Solo tanking is a terrible experience. If it became the only way to play, you can be sure I would not play them anymore
Or just leave it. 1-4-1 is part of the reason 2-2-2 was implemented. Play while waiting was added to give players things to do while waiting. We don’t need to change the format of overwatch again right now. Devs are focused on OW2 so even if they did change it it would take then time which means after OW2.

2-3-2 would be better alhonesty than 1-4-1. It only work with an Wrecking Ball and Mercy with being the Tank and Support. Also it’s not really fun to solo Tank or Support.

All of Blizzard character designs can be played in these combinations, from MY experience with their different titles.
So I was rather surprised they ONLY settled for 2s, considering the different skill sets of players in the various titles I played from Blizzard, that they did INFACT play with one another quite well. As long as there was ONLY 1 Tank and 1 healer, the rest of these combos WORKED. I NEVER considered 2s a strong build.

The basis was that wherever there was NOT a strong player, or stronger players. Could create POWERHOUSE combinations and it worked. 2s hasn’t seamed to be as good as other Blizzard Character design Combos.
Lol nah. How about we add better incentives to flex to different roles, release more engaging tanks, Balance them better and nerf some1 of the power crept heroes making tanking such a chore for many. Not too hard in comparison to changing the way the games played as a whole to cater to 1 role.

This is what the game should’ve had from day 1. I think if Overwatch had 1-4-1 Role Queue upon release both the balance of the game and the size of the community would be much, much stronger now, however I think we’re too far into the game’s life cycle for this to work, it’d simply be too hard of a pill for the community to swallow.
Do you have ANY idea how salty the DPS would be at the balance choices required to make this work?

Ahh yes, the “glory days” of “where tf my heals at, trash [x support]?” and “Report our tank, can’t put up barriers or make space for s***”. Then the part where the “genius idea” of 5th and 6th dps would magically make the problems go away.
2/2/2 has been such a mess I don’t even mind this idea
If they did it earlier the 80% majority DPS playerbase wouldn’t have started yeeting this game away post Brig and the dwindling player base would never have been as much of an issue.
Makes more sense to balance your game around the largest audience.
The devs even knew this and have stated that 3-4 DPS comps were what they had in mind for the game.

Every since Deathmatch has been a replacement for skirmish, my queues can be 20 minutes and I’m still happy.
