Just got out of one of the worst gaslighting sessions I’ve ever had on Overwatch, and it’s quite frankly bringing out the absolute worst of me. I can’t even say something as basic as Doom counters healers without people escalating as heavily as they can for the pure joy of angering others.
I have too much to heal from to keep dealing with this. They’ve got me thinking things only Kratos should think, I come here for the therapy and escape from reality just to have reality shoved even harder into my face.
If you’re gonna automate your report algorithm to the point where cussing gets people perma-banned, how about doing something about the people that take pride in emotional abuse more than Amber Heard does? This problem has only gotten worse over the years.
Your game is full of sociopaths- deal with them before their warpath turns the rest of us into one, too.
I’d much rather call their mothers and ask them why they failed their family so hard… and that’s kinda part of my point. The amount of pettiness and spite they’re starting to inspire out of me is unhealthy enough to spook me. I want to play, but I don’t want to risk exposing myself to something that festers old wounds enough to change me.
Try another alt this is too predictable btw how are you doing now and tc of yourself, maybe once listen to me and turn off vc or atleast stop telling others especially supports to swap, please be kind to them
Automated where it’s not people overseeing the reports.
Kiriko complained that Doom is on her nonstop, I said that’s because Doom counters healers. Both healers go nuts. Literally didn’t ask them to swap. Just told them Doom counters most healers. They chose to escalate over and over.
Don’t put words in my mouth. That’s on their level. Please leave the thread alone.
The reaction to reports is automated.
There has to be a report, for the system to scan the chatlog for blacklisted words. As far as i understand it.
As the devs have stated, “reporting as soon as possible is most useful”.
If you report after match, the program goes through the whole match chat history. If reported immediately, there’s only a few minutes to scan.
You cant leave chat or else they will all say “Oh he left vc! Wooow, he eft vc and is throwing, gg we have xyz on our team”
What ya gotta do is mute em all individually.
But if the team tilted themselves into an unwinnable oblivion already, what i like doing if im feeling extra petty
…muahahah…
MUAHAHAHAHA…
Is i STAY ON THE HERO theyre screaming at you for, keep the chat ON, enjoy their salty tears while you report each peice of filth they spew.
Ive played this crap far too long to babysit. There is no reason to make yourself mad or even take it too seriously when theyre grouping bronze with masters. Play to win of course, but if the deciding factor is that I have to coddle my teammates irrational emotions into not hating me? Im just going to play what I want to play to have the fun I logged in to have.
Again. ZERO reason to bend your mental to argue or coddle these types of bullies. They will go on flaming and blaming everyone in their life like entitled children. Trust me. You do not need to be a parent or even a nice uncle to these kids.
I’m sorry you got a bunch of unimaginative responses. Turning off chat eliminates 80% of the fun I have. I love banter. There’s a lot of fun people playing.
This past week I’ve seen a sudden surge of degens. I feel ya. The problem is the anonymity. People who think they’re funny or are just mean trying to tilt someone with no risk. The match ending as quickly as it does now gives no time for intelligent responses. I have a few canned responses myself. I find that saying something funny or random disarms them usually. I think it’s hilarious every time someone tries to be an Internet bully. Nobody would ever talk to my face the way they do in a game.
I also learned to pay some attention to what everyone else is doing here and there in the game. Sometimes that comes in handy when you need a quick rebuttal. They don’t expect to be called out for one specific thing they did at the end of the game. “Says the guy who…” for example.
Other than that, find a thing to think about on purpose when you get tilted that inevitably makes you happy to help unplug from it. Sing the first few words of a fun song. I can’t repeat the one that works for me here. It’s anatomical. lol
I just think toxic people don’t have enough brain cells to be worth investing time in, so … they are just stupid people barking stuff they don’t understand.
There isn’t much to expect from them.
Last thing they want it to get on your nerves and tilt you, to value them anything worth conversing with is to let them win.
i hope that helps put this in a better perspective
Combat sports can be therapeutic for lots of men. It has to do the the predominantly hands-on way men deal with stress, it’s a pretty direct contrast to the verbal approach women take to mitigate stress.
This is the way. The community has become so bitter and toxic in quickplay, you are missing absolutely nothing of value by not participating in chat in the game these days. If you want to chat with people try the chill custom game lobbies or even competitive lobbies.
I got to a point where 9/10 of my games someone started being aggressively negative, groups all saying GGEZ at the end of the game, people telling me to uninstall, etc. I will never turn chat back on in this game since Blizzard decided to just use their automation system to ban instead of actually trying to make the game a better environment.
Edited to add: The typical response that even Blizzard themselves give, to report them, means nothing to me because I think I have ended up on a blacklist of the report system where they don’t read my reports. I reported someone who said extremely vile and personal things to me and never got the popup.
I used to get a popup every day when I logged on but I probably reported too many people. My mistake, Blizzard, for engaging in your chat system and being subjected to abuse! Won’t happen again.
