In your typical overwatch fashion, you go on a winning streak, then the game intentionally starts pairing you with bad teammates to make you lose. Just had a plat dva in my game start the game 1v6 in front of enemy spawn, alone. The MMR system couldn’t be more obvious to everyone that plays overwatch. The players I’m playing with in plat now are worse than the teammates I had in gold/silver. It’s intentionally trying to make me drop back down after a winning streak.
Why not stop there then? Plat’s good enough isn’t it, might as well cut your losses before Blizzard cuts them for you
Its really not. Its been demonstrated time after time after time after time that if you are better than your rank you will climb and if you are worse you will fall. You are the SR you belong at and its not on your teammates.
OMG you’re so right! I’m just going to write off every loss as ‘MMR is out to get me, so it can’t be my fault’
and then create a thread about it on bnet forums. And then maybe argue with someone about it.
In the long run yes. In the short term, anything can happen. But you are correct, if this person is plat, they will most of the time be in plat.
1v6 dva last game. leaver this game. definitely a rigged system.
First time I got to plat, I dropped to Silver. I managed to get back to gold, and hovered between gold/plat for a few seasons.
I kept going, and haven’t dropped out of plat anymore.
The reason it seems like you get purposefully put with bad teammates when you climb is because you are in fact the bad teammate. You have climbed to a new ELO that is more demanding than the one you were in before and you probably underperform the first few times you go into it, and then people love looking to their teammates to scapegoat. It’s just how it is.
Review your vods and see what YOU can do better and if you do this honestly then the next time you climb to that ELO you will be better prepared.
I’m not the DVA alone at the enemy spawn. I’m the guy with my team, behind shield.
Edit: And if I were to review my video, I’d see the way for me to win is to kill every single player on the enemy team, by myself.
If you just entered plat, that’s your problem. Low plat is just low gold with better mechanical prowess. That’s why high gold is such a nightmare too, you end up teamed with low plats that most likely had trouble performing up to snuff and fell out of their bracket.
Yeah sometimes you just get unlucky. GG go next. Just remember that a really good winrate is something like 60%, which means that out of every ten games you will only gain 25 or so SR even though you should probably be ranking up.
the truth is a bitter mistress, but once you embrace it becomes a little sweeter.
I do this all the time. It took hours out of actually playing, but I learned more in watching replays then grinding games. I came prepared to not commit to the same mistakes, or avoid them.
I can’t stress how helpful watching my replays improved every aspect of Overwatch competitive.
But the road to improvement is so slow.
It’s not the truth. The game is rigged lol
Fine, I’ll humor you.
Why though? What would Blizzard gain by implementing an extremely complex system that forces losses after a long win streak? You’re suggesting it knows exactly who’s going to throw and leave games, and sticks them on your team to punish you specify.
If you go from plat to bronze, that’s probably you, not the matchmaker.
Sadly that’s not how 50/50 system works, I’d rather bad teammates get put together so that I can see a team doing bad completely in sync.
That’s some cases, but saying this is true most of the time usually means most of the people are exactly at their rank, if not above, but that’s also not the case since a lot of people own multiple accounts and tries as hard on one as another, but get difference results.
This is true, but assuming op is not ready seems like a weird choice since he’s actually making logical choices compared to his teammates.
There’s no reason for them to rig it against you, you’re a nobody.
If you’re on a 150SR+ winstreak, all other players will be better, including the enemies. You just got higher than your actual skill and ran out of luck.
I literally just said the teammates I have in plat are worse than the silver and gold players I play with. They aren’t better in plat, they are worse. I didn’t climb, then get put into matches with better players. I climbed, and got put into matches with worse players. Because the game conspires to keep you in a lower rating. They intentionally put you in matches with other players on a losing streak. And they put you up against players on a winning streak.
Some kind of psychological manipulation technique. Give you the satisfaction of climbing, then take it away from you. Keep you forever grinding, and trying to climb.
They already accomplish this with loot boxes, and they are far less convoluted.
How does every streamer accomplish unranked-GM series constantly, while posting ridiculously high win rates until they get into Masters? Surely you’re not suggesting they have employees watching twitch constantly with a toggle to turn off their “forced 50%, receive bad teammates” program for individual accounts?
New accounts without years of mmr
I have no interest in playing the game to get loot boxes. I have an interest in playing more after I go on a losing streak though.
Im on a 6 game losing streak now. Asked someone else in my game if he was on a losing streak too, he said yeah. When you start to win, the system starts giving you teammates on losing streaks. And it starts putting you in games against people on winning streaks. It’s rigged lol.
