Just got a fellow LW enthusiast on my team in comp

Taking a break from my Switch adventures RN because Monday is my favorite comp day. Just went to Dorado and got a co-support on my team with the “Epic Naturalist” title, a LW icon, and a high-tier LW name card. So I figured I ought to be courteous and let them have him. Just in case they weren’t confident playing anyone else

*Ahem*

I kind of really regretted that decision. He was so heavy. So, so, so very heavy. We still won somehow but there was so much panicked pinging and nowhere near enough thorns. And the enemy had everything. Torb. Monke bubble. Long range people. And it allllllll went unpressured by him. And I suppose a couple of his pulls could have been better too

Perhaps I shouldn’t be “courteous” in that particular way again

Obligatory Edit: I feel like I’m maybe sounding a little harsh here, so I’ll clarify. It’s just the lack of thorns that I was taking issue with. I should at least give a little credit here, because I was really grateful about not being ignored and left to die. The vast majority of the time, my “thanks” when being pulled was totally genuine. (The other couple of times, it wasn’t sarcastic either; just a habit and me trying to be polite.) It was just so painful seeing a Torb turret or a barrier or Widow or whatever and wishing I could bust out the thorns myself and help take care of it. It would have been so much easier

And by the way, I actually tried to encourage them to use their thorns in the only way I can with no chats: directing the “press the attack” voiceline at them. I “press the attack”'d our Weaver a few times whenever we had a spare moment. But as usual in these scenarios, they didn’t seem to understand what I was getting at

If players like this would just make use of their thorns, I’m confident that they would have a much easier time of things

I mean, the achievement isn’t exactly hard, just requires you to achieve the challenges. Time not necessarily means skill. While time can help you to understand the game more, is not necessarily metric to actually know anything.

There are several achievement hunters out there.

Some extra details if anyone’s curious, because luckily their profile is public–

Their WR on Weaver this season: 51%
My WR on Weaver this season: 58%

Their all-time comp WR on Weaver: 50%
My all-time comp WR on Weaver: 55%

No hate towards them or anything. I know they clearly want to play LW, seeing as they’ve been sticking with him ever since his release despite any struggles, and that’s fine. I respect that. But I also want to win. I don’t think me instalocking Weaver before them would have been a problem. It looks like they were actually a Mercy main before his release, and their rank was higher then too. Because she’s actually designed for that playstyle

There’s no drama or anything. I just used one of my 3 pinned avoids on them and carried on with my winstreak into Gold 2. It’s just better for the both of us this way. Nobody steps on anyone else’s toes

I am a terrible Reinhardt. I started my Overwatch career as a Widowmaker one trick. It’s not as if the hammer comes naturally to one such as myself.

Perhaps this individual just believes that Lifeweaver is fun and sexy. That’s reason enough to play them all the time!

But yeah, you should have stolen him. Only trust yourself and all of that jazz. MAYBE that player is a reincarnation of Ayanga and understands 69 ways to carry. Or maybe they are just a weave snatcher. You never know!

Hahaha HAHAHAHA, first off your talking to Star they know what there talking about when it comes to Weaver, this wasn’t just a “Bad game” this is how this person and others actually play Weaver Stars right Lifeweaver eats that comp alive.

I get your one of the “Weaver defenders” like us who stands up for the “Bad lifegrips” on the feeding tanks and Weavers can do no wrong…

My guy your making Lifeweaver look weak… your making him look sooo sooo weak… “maybe he didn’t have enough time to” Star would of DEVOURED this comp, Weavers not just this oh pwease howd my hand little hewo where everything has to go right for him to weave in damage and healing…

Heres how you focus on yourself, Don’t let someone else pick Lifeweaver… that is a conscious decision that is completely reliant on you, when you have the chance to pick Weaver before someone else take it, the same way you focus on “your” positioning the same way you focus on “Your” game sense… having enough sense to know not to let a possible healbot pick Lifeweaver is “your” decision my G.

If they somehow click on him before you then we can talk about all that “Focus on yourself” stuff for example how you could of clicked faster. Other then that THEN you just do the best you can on someone else to lift the dead weight.

so let me get this straight

person lets another person play a hero they like

person doesn’t do as well as said person

that person then makes a topic shaming that person even if not by name

???

this is a pathetic stealth brag topic, what was the point?

A. Your framing it as “Not doing well” as if Lifeweaver is just this pathetic weak hero that needs to be protected at everyturn, they played Badly like lets just say it how it is.

B. They didn’t shame them they just said they could of done better, which they could of again Lifeweaver isn’t this sad baby who needs pampering.

And they didn’t even “Brag” I did they listed Lifeweavers capabilities as if he was an actual working functional hero.

Obviously if someone is constantly treating a well functioning hero like they dont function in other aspects there gonna be dead weight because they function and do well BECAUSE of those other aspects not inspite of them.

You might think your the “Hero” here trying to defend Lifeweaver in every aspect making sure the precious wittew weakling never gets any criticism or backlash or that he can do no wrong…

Your making him look like a princess…

Facts Lifeweaver at his actual base level not this pathetic “Oh I can’t carry” “Im never to blame” Lifeweaver at his actual base level destroys that comp that’s what Star said.

Facts giving a healbot Lifeweaver usually dosen’t go well and had she hadn’t not only would we not be having this conversation in the first place the same way Lifeweaver uses tree of life to seal off spawn doors and stop touches, there game also would of been a lot easier (This is just facts btw).

Is this person being “Shamed” No at least I don’t see any names in this post? (This is a fact btw).

What was said is that Lifeweaver isn’t this weak as hell hero that needs everything done for him, and an acknowledgement of a mistake was made giving it to someone who dosen’t realize that (this is facts btw).

So if talking about your failure and making things harder for yourself is bragging, then hell we need more of it because people would actually acknowledge what they did wrong.

“It’s okay champ you’ll get em next time don’t listen to all those meanies saying you can do better, and that you don’t know your limit no ones better then you sport! your fine just the way you are!”

My guy this is degrading…

Your fault. If I ever land in a game with someone named KirikoMaster or whatever and he has the top kiri title, im still insta-locking Kiri. Even if I land in a game with Kayji or whoever is the top kiri, I would still insta-lock Kiriko. Only one you can trust in this game is yourself.

No but they know literally just enough to make Lifeweaver work and what there capable of.

^

What an “Expert” does is weve learned not to trust many other people with our heros outside of ourselves.

OMG YOU KNOW KAYJII!

Truthfully, I normally am the instalock-no-matter-what type. Not sure what possessed me to give him away this time. And out of all the heroes, Weaver is one of the absolute riskiest to leave to chance like this. It’s so likely to go so wrong

We’ll consider that match an experiment, I guess. The results of which further supported the use of instalocking

… What are you talking about? Are you feeling okay?

Thank the heavens that was your only response I thought we were gonna be all night with this.

Alright this arguments over at least.

I would hope so. You writing a massive text block of nonsense not even address to me or anyone in particular did not seem healthy.

Do you need a localized list of urgent care centers?

Look its clear by now mental health attacks don’t bother me, I adresed all of your points every single last one actually and even called you out for making Lifeweaver look weaker then he actually is.

If you just wanna keep trying to same thing because the internets taught you that saying someone needs help is like this all powerful tool, then your literally not my problem.

I didn’t say anything about Lifeweaver as a hero, try again.

Like I said making it look like Lifeweaver (and his players) is this absolutely precious little hero who can do no wrong isn’t helpful to anyone, its insulting at best.

Not everyone wants to be freaking pampered, Star saw a player wasn’t playing weaver ya know at there best they identified it and actually talked about Lifeweaver like a decent will respectable hero with very good capabilities and carry potential especially against a comp like the one described.

They don’t use voice or text chat period they’ve been pretty adament about that, but still there’s nothing wrong with seeing that someone can do better.

And I never said Lifeweaver was otherwise. You need to calm down and read what I said again.

Ehem Clears throat

You act like I care what you said, it was your intentions and assumptions that made me draw my conclusion.

Hence why I said your making it “Look” bad not that you said it directly…

Thats been kinda my entire point this entire conversation.

Hes not “Taking it out” Weaver dosen’t need everything defend as just a “Bad game” hell this player probably thinks this was a good game best Lifeweaver game they ever had actually, meanwhile there teams trying to carry the statue of libarty
