This is pathetic. Like beyond pathetic. Who thought it would be a fun idea in any way, shape, or form to have a character lose their ability to do any damage after EVERY. RELOAD.
No other character got changes this bad. They are literally just telling you not to play Reaper at all for this event and there’s no denying it this time.
“Reaper can no longer reload and drops his shotguns on the ground when empty.
Dropped shotguns must be picked up to restore ammo.
Movement Speed increased by 25% when out of ammo.
Picking up shotguns increases attack speed for a short duration.”
Me. I volunteer. I will handle it all. Cosmetics, Balance, Lore. All me.
Prolly should’ve put this in OP, but I’m too lazy to go back and edit it in.
Funny mode should be fun for everyone. Reaper is genuinely just annoying and boring with what they did to him.
I looked through every single other hero and they were all at the very least balanced in a way that counterweighted the nerfs (e.g. D.va having less health counterbalanced by giving her more damage and the ability to freeze her bomb in air).
This. This would satisfy me. This is fun, creative, and most importantly, not a nerf.
He gains free flight, which is probably the best thing you could give to a Tank without mobility.
She does 150 per shot and gets a reload speed boost. That trade off is insane.
Doesn’t need to be. It’s still not shooting himself in the foot in even remotely the same way that Reaper’s does.
It’s a bonus to her pistol. She loses nothing by having it and she gains a ton when she does need to use it. Not comparable.
It gains health and damage the more you hit it. Literally just a better turret.
I would like to play against the other heroes with their changes and I would like to use goofy abilities (even if they are just nerfs), but it’s not fun when the one character I enjoy playing is made to be the odd-one-out with changes that make them borderline unplayable compared to everyone else.
I like having fun, but I’m not going to queue up just to be another players punching bag for 10 minutes straight.
I’m sure Reaper goes around listening to hyper-pop while saying monch monch monch every time he shoots someone. We very clearly have identical personalities.
The song should be marylin mansons Seizure of Power.
That would be perfect.
Slow crunchy parts of the song deal way more damage and or tighter spread to shoot further away. The riff allows rapid fire normal damage at closer distance.
Ana has one shot before reloading, that is a tremendously lower flexibility
Rein’s encourages bad plays and is harder to use accurately
Mercy’s costs you if you actually use it and offers nothing if you don’t
Torb’s requires you to not use your gun and instead focus on the turret, which loses the bonuses as it takes damage and is easier to damage as it gets bigger
And Reaper’s goofy change allows him to shoot much faster so long as you stay aggressive. Nice going neglecting the upside of it by the way.
Most of these simply incentivize bad play without actively detracting from your gameplay if you choose not to utilize them.
Reaper’s actively gets in your way and forces you to play awkwardly/poorly. It’s tied to a must-use ability (reload), meaning if you didn’t want to use it, you’d be force to anyway.
Faster fire rate is only useful at close range and the RNG nature of the tossing of guns means that it could very easily be wasted by the time you turn around and pick up your guns. Back-tracking can very easily waste the short bonus that they give you because of the time it takes to go from your starting position, over to your gun, and then back to your starting position.
Also faster fire equates to running out of ammo faster, meaning you’ll be spending a larger portion of your time just running around looking for your guns (probably even more time than you’ll be spending actually shooting people).
It also forces you to go into what could be very bad positioning because the other option would be to run around gun-less AKA guaranteed death.
Hm you just have to strategically throw the shotguns away and the increased attack speed makes up for it. It worked for me but not for hours of course.
