This is a myth. It almost never happened. And on the rare occasion it did happen it usually worked.

Bruh… bruh… come on now… 4/5 games when I got to OQ are exactly that or maybe 1 tank 4 DPS and 1 support… at best. Rarely is it 2/2/2 and if it is, then there is not real problem with RQ to start…

Just for fun, after lunch I will log into 5 games and report back the picks from spawn by role. I know I am right about this. Let’s not even touch on the absolute lack of teamwork in OQ, its a clown-fest…

I became a Roadhog main because of Open Queue.

I didn’t like insta-dying to some loser camper, but I had no healing because my Symmetra was busy with doing literally nothing at all.

I’m now a recovering Zarya main who can play all Tanks and various other utility characters.

Yea this type of comps woked, even full dps team could work in most ranks. It was not really a problem worth devs attention until goats dominated OWL -_-

Torbjorn has always had one of the highest WRs in the game. I doubt it was always the Torb that was doing nothing…

Exactly. Everything they do is based on what the OWL wants. They drove off millions of players to other games all so they can please 100 players that draw 15k viewers on YT.

Where’d you come up with this?

Role queue stabilized the playerbase from open queues downward spiral. The reason OW’s current player base is so small is because it hasn’t gotten much content for close to 3 years…

It still allows you to do that if you pick Open Q instead of Role Q.
Which apparently most players don’t:

Open Q QP has always been available and yet after ~1 year of Role Q the numbers looked like this.

Now don’t get me wrong here:
It is perfectly legitimate to prefer Open Q over Role Q and I think that it was a huge mistake to remove the Open Q Ranked mode (which the devs admitted by bringing it back).

Though you are clearly not in the majority with your preferences and blaming the loss of players on Role Q instead of Blizzards missmanagement when it comes to content development and the whole “sequel” debacle is just ridiculous.

What your graph fails to account for are all the players who “coincidentally” dropped OW and never came back right around the time RQ was introduced.

Again:
Why would you drop the game just because other players finally got the mode they prefer?
Open Q QP was never gone and yet it’s player base imploded as soon as there was an alternative :woman_shrugging:

It was gone for a while, some of us petitioned to get it back, and it returned.

I think blizzard legit listened to the community there.
