Sombra main btw. Just get rid of her. Your balance team obviously has no idea what she needs and keeps making her clunkier, buggier, and weaker every patch. Infinite invisibility for less speed, less cloak range, and no contesting? Infinite translocator but it dies instantly? Really? Sombra’s problem is that she doesn’t do enough when she’s IN combat. These changes fix NOTHING. They’re useless fluff buffs with egregious nerfs attached. I stopped playing her last season, but now I’m done playing her altogether. Let’s get that pickrate to 0%.
Yeah, unfortunately I’m with you, back to Pharah for me.
It’s pretty tragic, the info was so positive, right up until you get to Sombra
when you actually see the new sombra “buffs”

I know! The other changes are so good, and despite my initial reservations, I LOVE Hammond’s kit. Then you get to Sombra and it’s just… Nothing. Nerfs disguised as superfluous buffs.
They seriously can’t buff her without nerfing her somewhere in the kit.
Why did I invest so much time in this hero? It’s like Blizzard are telling me to get off this weak hero over and over again by making her weaker.
Agreed, I don’t think anyone in the overwatch team even plays this character or knows how to play her. These changes are a massive nerf that lower her skill cap and only make her feel more slow and frustrating to use. The only buffs sombra needs are reload buffs similar to reaper and minor tweaks. For example:
- being able to reload while you’re throwing your translocator
- being able to reload while you’re translocating
- emp automatically reloading your ammo back to full (same as reaper)
- being able to cancel reload animation through hack (same as mccree with flashbang)
- adding a damage threshold (5-10) to hack so that dva or tracer shooting you from the other side of the map can’t cancel your hack
- making the cloaking/uncloaking stealth animations slightly faster
- adding a small amount of damage when enemies are hit by emp (5-10)
I would also consider being able to destroy your own translocator a buff, as long as the enemy can’t destroy it.
The more powerful McCree, Soldier and Mei say “Hi Pharah”
I miss old Sombra. She might have been niche as hell and poorly balanced around EMP-ing every fight, but she wasn’t this mess we currently have.
I thought Pharah was doing much better than all three of these heroes last time I checked.
Especially in the case of Soldier: 76.
I play D.va, Zarya and pretty much everything else. I just used Pharah as an example because she was my most played dps.
I feel sombra could make a 6v6 to a 5v6 since your sombra might just run around invisible most of the match
120-140 hour sombra main here… I like the changes. It gives me the time I need to get in the perfect spot to surprise the hell out of the enemy team. Played her like 8 or 9 games in a row on the PTR. I love it.
I would love to see all these changes and even then I don’t think it would be enough for her. I don’t see why they can’t try easy stuff like this first and see where she lands.
Yeees!° would love those!
And you couldn’t do that before? She had no problem setting up to surprise. The problem was that when she actually got in position she couldn’t really do anything and had to translocate out most of the time before having any kind of impact.
The problem was you felt rushed to do it ASAP, rather than wait for your team (who never works on your time frame) to get in position. Now you have all the time in the world.
Yeah being able to pick your spots is a nice buff. I just wish it didn’t have to come with a ton of unnecessary nerfs. I understand not allowing cloaking to contest the point, but the others just feel like totally spiteful nerfs, especially doubling the detection radius.
The balance team has no idea what the game needs at all.
If it wasn’t clear with the “2-3 heroes outperform everyone else” game we’ve had for the past years then hanzo and brig should be enough to make it clear.
If that SOMEHOW wasn’t enough, just look at sombra.
Never before I’ve seen a dev team this incompetent.
