If you hate the current way ow2’s bp is…if they were to add ow2 coins(not credits) into their bp(similar to how other games do their bp), would that be a good change to you or would it not make a difference to you?

Personally, the only thing I dont like is that you need to get to level 45 to unlock new heros, Wish it was either lower or you just unlocked them.

I wouldn’t like it. The dev team has already said if they add coins, they have significantly increase the battle pass time investment to compensate. Corporate doesn’t want people only buying one BP, so they would have to make it difficult for the average player to complete.
I like being able to complete the BP with minimal effort. A hard grind would kill it for me.

If they add coins they have already said they would need to;
- make the bp much grindier to finish
If people have a way to earn it all for free every season, they are basically incentivised to make it as hard as possible for as many people as possible to finish it so that it continues to be a revenue stream for them. They would want people to struggle to finish it so they were more likely to buy tier skips to get to the end. They wouldnt keep it as easy as it is now otherwise everyone would finish it every season and theyd make no money from it ever again
- lower the quantity/quality of items in the battle pass Specifically removing the mythic was mentioned as a pressure point for why they chose to not add coins
If it was possible to earn coins back and essentially make the battle pass free, they would not put many high tier items in it because why would they add 5 legendaries and a mythic if its all given away for free. They would take content out and you would see more in the store. Mythics would likely be sold for $60+ each or something ludicrous and you’d be lucky to even get 2-3 legendaries per BP.
You cant even argue against it by saying you wont buy it because it literally makes no difference if you would have just got it all for free anyway

Its not about being grindier, its also about having people playing ow2 for stuff they can earn without having to spend money every season.

You should be critiquing the events if that is your concern. Those are where they should be offering things by playing without spending money.
They have already been adding more stuff over time in that case anyway.
We got credits added in season 3 to the free bp so you can earn 1 legacy legendary of your choice every season for free. They have been offering more new epic skins for events compared to back when ow2 launched where they gave old epic skins.
The new season just launched and you can already earn a bonus 1500 credits for just completing a few event challenges. Whilst we already know there is a doom and ana epic skin coming from future events
The bp isnt the issue here. That isnt a problem the bp is designed to fix. The whole point of the bp is to make them money and for just $10 you get a sizeable chunk of cosmetics for your monetary investment. If you dont want to spend the money you have some events every season to earn a few new things for free.
What more do you really want? What more do you really expect if you’re not going to spend anything?
Like honestly im confused about what the issue is here? If you dont want to spend money you have a handful of events to earn stuff for free. If you are happy to spend money, you can pay $10 and get 5 legendary skins and a mythic plus other cosmetic offerings

Could they add coins to the bp? Yes. But the cost of doing so would just be a detraction from what we already have.
You = get $10 in coins back
The bp = loses 2+ legendary skins and the mythic, is filled with more sprays and charms and becomes 3-4x grindier to get to the end
……
Imo the stuff that would be removed to justify them adding coins, is worth more than $10 in coins and the 3-4x longer it would take to finish the battle pass

Eh not really?
It’d fix one of my issues in a round-a-bout way (coin earnage being ridiculously low in game), but ultimately doesn’t address that I just don’t think most of OW’s BP content is worthwhile, and that isn’t going to be fixed by just buying the BP to grind for coin levels to use those coins on a (subjectively) worthwhile shop skin or a future BP.

I paid 60 bucks for Overwatch. I’m playing the OW I paid for and own. BP can go suck a carrot 
No but seriously, heroes just shouldn’t be in the BP. I’d rather buy it if there weren’t heroes in it. Even if I wanted to buy it just for the mythic skin, I couldn’t get myself to do it knowing it pays Blizzard to tell them it’s ok to paywall the core gameplay integrity. Absolute horse system by leeching execs.

Giggles in Fortnite being the most profitable game out of all of these money-vacuums and yet has the most rewarding system out of all of them
Their excuse of “oH oH oHHHhhhh BUt BuT bUT WE Won’T Get Any MonEY” doesn’t exactly hold up when Fortnite enables the player to earn Vbucks from the battlepasses so that they never have to pay for another again. Hell, you don’t have to pay in the first place because even the free battlepass has some Vbucks.

BP should give 500 coins back on premium. That coupled with weekly quests would allow people to keep buying the BP over and over AND keep the people engaged to play.
Its such a no brainer but I guess they rather go half way and lose players just for the sake of squeezing a bit more money.

Probably because unlike Overwatch, fortnites battle pass isnt going all in with all its top tier cosmetics.
The battle pass in fortnite is secondary to their store. The Overwatch devs have already stated that they have the opposite approach where they want the battle pass to be the primary entry point for players
Theres a reason they hold all the collab skins, spiderman, batman, star wars etc. and then release them all only in the store. While they fill the battle pass with generic characters that people dont care for. Here’s your 5th peeley skin and your 9th jonesy variant.
Literally going through the fortnite batte pass you have
• generic asian girl
• black guy with blue glowy hands
• same black guy but green glowy hands
• punk chick in orange
• same punk chick but in green
• man bun guy
• man bun guy but he has a mask
• pink wresting girl
• wresting girl but with face paint
• generic explorer guy
• explorer guy with a mask now
• asian girl again but now in white
• asian girl for the 3rd time but with a hat
• Optimus prime
Bruh…… the only skin out of any of them that looks unique in the slightest is Optimus prime lol. All the rest are just generic stereotype characters with 0 personality

• griffon orisa with custom spear and voicework
• wizard zen with skin specific voicework
• knight genji with S.S voicework
• demon rein with S.S voicework
• alchemist mei with S.S voicework
• mythic tracer which offers 3 variants with unique voicework, sound effects, visual effects both on model and on ability, unique character select animation/highlight intro
I think you underplay the amount of extra effort they add to make the skins actually fit the characters in ow2. They don’t just make a skin and slap it on. There is additional voice lines and animations added to the skins to make them mesh with the character. It doesnt just feel like you are playing genji with a knight skin, they do voicework and stuff to make you actually feel like genji is an actual knight while you are wearing it.
While i was playing yesterday I literally heard winston talking about some starwatch stuff while i was playing him. Something about a griblibb or something? No idea wtf he was talking about but It makes the skin more than just a visual thing, it actually adds layers to the character you are playing.
Loading into a game wearing the starwatch ashe skin and hearing her say ‘i’m the last space smuggler you’ll ever cross’ adds an extra layer you simply do not get in games like fortnite. Unless you are playing as darth vader or optimus prime you have no affiliation with generic asian girl or man bun guy

They cant add coins to it simply, because how easy it is to complete the BP. If you look at Fortnite for example, the quests and missions are much harder and you need to invest a lot of time to get your money back.
They would need to double the time to complete it to put coins in it.
I dont mind how the pass is tbh, I wish there were more skins than sprays or charms. but what im hoping for is when they release more skins in the shop, the demand for coins will be greater so they could add coins into the pass instead of credits.
What they need to do is fix what’s wrong with the battle pass and remove hero unlocks. Anything else is simply unacceptable.
