Junos Ultimate Help

Alright so I’ve decided to become a Juno main and have been playing her a lot but I wanna know how to use her Ultimate “right”. I know what it does, but using it right seems finicky. I tend to save it for pushes (I assume that’s what it’s meant for since it moves forward and is damage boost + healing) but the amount of times my team just doesn’t push or utilize it when I use it seems fairly high, and when I try to use it to save my team it rarely works. I know there’s probably videos out there but I wanted the more standard input because i’m not high ranked and I play alone. Also, does anyone know the timing of her Ultimate? It hasn’t happened much but a few times she’ll get out the voice line but die and the laser doesn’t happen?

It’s garbage if you’re not playing with a coordinated team, don’t bother.

Most of the time, I use it like a Bap window. In other words, use it mostly for yourself. If your teammates happen to be around when you use it, great!

I use this ult when my tank experiences pressure. You know, enemies trying to swarm it and stuff. That is of course if tank needs to stay in place for whatever reason.
I don’t bother using it on DPS or anything else, it doesn’t really help other classes in most situations (with small exceptions for like a Reaper or Bastion). For me it’s just +100 HPS on my tank with extra protection for whoever is near.

I use it often when the fight is about to fail or it feels like it could fall in either teams favour at any moment now, to bring it into my favour.

Otherwise I also use it like a good zen would use trans, to survive myself or even when I am about to be the first kill, this way my team will have a chance to turn it 4v5 with my ult.

mostly its to prevent me from dying as I rather die with the ult than waste it and have it get canceled.

I am not the greatest, i can survive and keep my team up. Take from my input what you want.
If it matters, I’d say its a plat take.

generally I try to ult often and early so If its a good moment that hits a lot of my team with dmg boosts and we aren’t scared of a grav or so, it sounds good to use for me.

Wait so what exactly does it do again, it boosts your damage output and the amount of heals your receive? What are the percentages on that?

Don’t use it in the open for no reason. It’s super strong, but way stronger if your team can use cover while using it (it’s not transcendence level by a long shot).

It’s also not kitsune rush. Don’t use it to push a choke. Please.

Use it around a corner, to help your team cut through by adding pressure. It LOOKS like a brawl ult or defensive ult but it functions best as a poke/pressure ult- it allows your team to do heavy damage and recuperate fast, and lets you take full part in the damage for a while too- and lasts a while. But you still need cover and proper positioning, so run it alongside a wall or around a corner to assist a strong angle your team can use to essentially auto win a poke phase while giving them extra chance to stay out and shoot before they need to back into cover- it should also be angled so that when they do get a pick, they can push comfortably. Emphasis that it’s only 100 hps healing- many dps can kill through that, so it’s necessary you place it where your team can back into cover for a second or two to keep firing off those damage boosted shots safely. You also DONT wanna lock yourself into healing during your ult, a total waste of value.

Lastly, it’s very strong on payload. Your team gets healed by payload, payload follows the rays path most of the time, and the payload is the perfect bit of moving cover so your team can avoid shots for just a second to safely continue damaging the enemy, and if the enemy team DOES push in for a brawl or dive, you still have a significant upper hand.

100 healing per second for 10 seconds, +35% damage boost. (According to the wiki, idk how accurate the wikis are)

Use ult after your team is already fighting. I generally use it to keep the advantage in a fight we’re just barely winning

Theres a few second start-up time to Orbital Ray to start.

It took me awhile to get used to Juno’s unusual Ult. This is what I do: I use it similar to Kitsune Rush. I first wait for my team to group up near the objective then i line myself up with the length of the map. Avoid activating it in front of walls or chasms. Its a good idea to announce that Orbital Ray is ready, as long as the enemy team is not present yet. Timing is critical with her Ult. Wait until the enemy team is attacking. Make sure the enemy team is not attacking you specifically or you could die during activation. Before activating it, make sure you are not moving. This makes optimizing the position and direction of Orbital Ray a lot easier. Activate her Ult right behind your team, facing the enemy team with no obstructions in the way and with most of your team (including the Tank) in position to attack. After activating Orbital Ray, immediately jump into where the Ray will land, which is a few meters from your original activation point.

Once Orbital Ray comes down from the sky, start attacking the enemy team. Use every ability in your kit: double-jump, Hyper Ring and then Glide Boost. Save your Torpedoes and MediBlaster for attacking the other team when the timing is right. Move with the Orbital Ray so you are near the center of it. This seems to somewhat obscure the location of where Juno is, which gives you a slight stealth advantage. Keep moving with and attacking the enemy team until the Orbital Ray runs out. Once it runs out, you need to retreat if the enemy team is still alive. This is when Juno is very open to attack. Use Glide Boost and/or Hyper Ring to escape back to your team.

And thats how I use Orbital Ray. :artificial_satellite::flashlight:

Think of it like a slow moving support projectile.

You fire it out across a fight and hang back. Between the healing of the ult and your own healing shots, it can really do a decent job of keeping people up.

Let them use the damage boost portion. If you’re out in the middle of a fight you’re an easy kill even if you’re in the middle of the ult.

These two ults together must be nice, I don’t think I’ve experienced that in game yet.

Ive actually done it once accidentally (we both used our Ults simutanously). They synergize very well!

If the enemy team is bad enough and your team doesn’t like to push with your ult, fly into the air more towards the enemy team, and press Q aiming towards your team. So then it basically comes from the enemy side and into your team.

But that’s mostly for the funnies. Otherwise? Just use it to start off a fight. If they have a juno themselves, you can use it as an answer to there’s. Or if your team is smart enough and you kite their juno ult, you can use it as a counter.

Good bit of ways to use it just depends.

Works best in concert with the following ults:

Reinhardt
Roadhog
Mauga
Orisa
Zarya (So long as teammates are all getting the 35% bonus)

Any DPS with an ult that is attached to them (Not tire, for instance)

And the healer that most definitely gets a nice boost is Illari and her ult.

Have wiped many an enemy team using the Zarya/Illari/Juno combo.

Works well with Rein hammer down as well, so long as he’s standing in the AoE when he does it.

My main pet peeve about this ult is that it travels too fast. For how good it is though, it makes total sense.

The only thing that really messes up this ult is Ana 'Nade, it doesn’t detract from DPS, but the heals it provides are negated and makes your team easy to take out due to being tightly bunched.

Oh, and there is an inner ring (the white light) and an outer ring (Which is the actual area of effect of the ultimate) you do not need to be in the ‘white light’ to get all the effects, just need to be within the outer ring.

They increased the speed it travels which makes it harder to use because it travels farther out of the area your team wants to be in.
