How do you feel about this? I’m going to insta lock her.
I don’t foresee it being a huge issue. Let people play and figure out what comps work good together. Maybe juno will be fun, I didn’t do much play testing.
• Unless she gets some major buffs
• Considering she has already been shown to be receiving a health nerf
i dont think she will be very good
So it should be some nice easy wins knowing the enemy team have 2x the chance of someone locking in as her with me having absolutely no desire to play her if she is the same or worse than she felt in her test period
The biggest issue is she isnt a hero that allows for much skill expression. She can’t headshot, she has an aimbot ability, her mobility is very clunky and lacks much versatility, her speed ring passively gives her the speed boost, her ult is just a beam of stats just like a moira coalescence.
Nothing in her kit can be well expressed the better you are as a player. She doesnt have a ‘clutch’ ability. She doesnt offer much playmaking potential. Which means she will lack in impact unlike many other supports for me.
Im sure people who enjoy just existing in games will find her fun but considering a lot of the time to win games you have to carry, she doesnt have the kit for that. I will just continue to keep locking in as supports like ana, kiri or bap because they actually allow you to make an impact
I did “alright” with her in the demo. My heals were pretty decent, but damage was “meh”. I dont think she has a “high impact” ability. Even her ult is barely okay. Hopefully she is coming in with some buffs…HAVING SAID THAT, she is adorable and I plan on playing comp with her too XD
Juno is not a bad hero, even though it feels a little generic in term of creativity.
She’s the kind of hero I would have completely seen released in Overwatch Day One in 2016, ranked 1-star out of 3 in terms of difficult. The perfect hero to start playing Overwatch, with simple / basic mechanics.
I’play her for sure (and already have in the beta) but I don’t feel I’m gonna stick with her for a long time, unfortunately (just like Illari). She doesn’t have that “waouuuh” factor in terms of gameplay.
Be interesting to see if Juno + Lucio will be viable. Seems like she’ll be a shot in the arm to Rush Comps. I don’t think she’ll replace Lucio in them (maybe?), but pairing them together is mighty intriguing to me
Juno seems cool. I personally think she’ll be too complex for me but I think she’ll be good in comp cause of her complexity
Interesting you think she is complex cus i just think her complexity is just that she is clunkily designed and she is actually super basic
Just shoot the gun, it both heals and dmg so you dont have to think at all
Missiles, lock on you dont have to do anything. Hits both enemies and teammates so you can use it whenever
Speed ring, giant aoe that people dont even have to walk through to get the effect, just be near it. Also automatically applies the speed to juno so you dont even have to worry about going through it yourself
Ult, giant aoe beam. Just stand in it to get the effects
Like i said only thing that is ‘complex’ is her movement but its not even complicated imo. It’s just trash lol.
A Fixed horizontal movement has never been good just like walking in a straight line gets you killed. It wont suddenly be good now. Because she is fixed at a certain height with no ability to go up or down she is just a sitting duck. Taking away player freedom doesnt make something complex it just makes it feel like trash to play with.
Everyone who acts like ‘you’re just bad, her movement is fine you just arent good at her’
No! She is just feels bad to play. You can learn to play a hero who feels bad to play and work around their limitations. Doesnt stop them from being badly designed
Technically a hero who can only reload by collecting from ammo stations scattered around the map is complex cus you have to know where those stations spawn and time when is best to leave a fight to go reload but that would feel garbage to play. Which is why everyone just has unlimited ammo and heroes like hanzo dont need to go pick up arrows from the ground to reload
It all depends on how these patch notes shake out, really, but on paper I can see Juno + Lucio working out pretty well.
- Lucio offers moment-to-moment speed while Juno’s is on a long cooldown, so their utility doesn’t seem to overlap and suffer from redundancy.
- Juno’s weak to flankers, Lucio can peel.
- Juno’s and Lucio’s ult also seem to play well just fine, both in terms of using them at the same time or for different functions.
- Juno’s guns were ~107 HPS/DPS for the trial; that’s plenty of single target healing to cover for Lucio’s lack of it.
I’m just a wee scrub, though. Maybe I’m way off base.
They either have very few changes planned and think she will be safe side of strong or they just don’t care anymore about holding back heroes from comp
I agree with that. Two qualifiers for the pairing:
- No utility. No cleanse, no anti, no immorts. That could be a glaring issue against some comps.
- Weak(ish) burst heals. Doesn’t seem like they’ll be able to top off tanks quickly at all. I could be mistaken here, some combination of one of the pair speed boosting and the other amping/focusing their heals might work. Seems kinda weak to me tho.
I’d say that speed and boop are the utility here. There’s no defensive utility, true, but if the enemy team gets blitzed down then that might not matter.
As for healing, 107 HPS is a lot for on-tap healing. Ana’s something like 88 HPS for comparison. I don’t think that’ll be a problem as long as you can make space for Juno to work.
Unfortunately I only met one Lucio one-trick during the trial. It worked out well, though:
It felt like Ana + Lucio and while that’s not always an optimal support pairing, it’s never been a bad one (imo).
This is also my issue. She feels very much like Weaver in a way, that the team has to use your utility to do something and otherwise you only contribute healing and some damage as a support. I would put her ult quite low in the support ult tierlist, because it feels like a bad Kitsune.
Agreed. I am surprised that she got hit with the health nerf. Its not like she had (in the playtest) some amazing mobility.
I ran into another problem with her ult: Bap Ult Syndrome™. Nobody knows what it actually does. I would deploy my ult but I would have to stick it directly on my team; they all assumed it did something bad to the enemy while doing nothing for them so they wouldn’t sit in it otherwise. And I can see why. Everyone knows about the orbital death lasers, but orbital life lasers are few and far between.
The voice line is useless, too. “Welcome to orbit!” I’d prefer it if she said something like “Here, friends, let me empower you!” That would sound suitably naff and cringeworthy for the purposes of remaining in-character while being slightly informative.
Yeah, but I think the problem with the ult is more the area and that its moving and not that people know what it does. Its clearly more visible than Bap window and that you can turn everywhere and get the damage boost is also nice.
My main problem would be Ana again, who just throws her nade into the beam and suddenly its just a damage boost that requires specific positioning…
Probably not bad for high ranks, but in metal ranks if someone won’t swap off Juno it’ll probably be a GG go next kinda vibe. People down here don’t know how to play anything that’s been out for years let alone a new release…
For similar reasons, I think Juno and Brig can pair well together as well.
-
Brig can take advantage of Juno’s speed boost to smack enemies around while providing AOEA sustain.
-
Brig ult trades raw defensive power for an AOE stun while also helping to save people (though admittedly not nearly as effectively).
-
She providew greater single target heals and can better provide spot healing with repair packs.
-
She’s built to help peel which Juno will love.
I’m genuinely looking forward to playing as / with Juno as I think there will be a variety of supports that will pair well with her.
Juno ult is really dependent on having a character that works with speed that also can block Nade. Leads me to think Rein and D.Va are outright the best tanks to work with her. I could be wrong ofc.
I would rather say its almost required that you have a Kiriko. The ult is also push or team fight only and if your team does not follow the beam, its wasted. Personally, I like more simple characters (like Juno seems to be), but I worry about her viability.
Kiriko or a good tank that can track Nade, yeah. I think Juno will be OK personally. People really underestimate how much skill expression movement has in games as a whole. Good movement is on-par with good aim in all games.
