Juno console buttons

Any other console players already dreading how Juno will play on controller?

Looking at her passive (hold jump to glide)- I’m REALLY afraid of her button configurations because gliding is difficult on console by default and all her buttons seem to be preoccupied so she’ll probably need some clunky custom controls
(Like echo and pharah who I had to rebind jump on to bottom left trigger)

Hold X to jump/glide is NOT ideal while aiming simultaneously. So far only mercy gets away with it because rez isn’t active all the time so the rez button can also be used to hover- but Juno has a different ability there.

I was thinking the same thing. I always bind the jump to one of the triggers or bumpers for characters with an ability based on holding that down. I may have to do what I did with Lucio where I use the normal jump face button for amp it up so I have room on RT for jump.

Oh yeah, she’s gonna need rebinding.

I’m probably gonna use my Echo settings. Which are as follows, if anyone wants them:

  • Jump: LT
  • Ability 1: A
  • Ability 2: LB
  • Ability 3: Y
  • Primary Fire: RT
  • Secondary Fire: RB

Don’t ask me what the PS4/5 equivalents are, cause I have no idea, I’ll be honest . But they’d probably be the same.

me too! i have LT for jump with genji, echo, pharah and lucio

Console players are handicapped by lots of control issues. I use LT for jump on Mercy/Hanzo/Kiriko

You just remap your buttons for mobility to the triggers. That’s what I did with Lucio for long wall grinds

Jump: L2
Ability 1: X
Ability 2: L1
Ability 3: ^
Primary Fire: R2
Secondary Fire: R1

Ps buttons.

The ones I used when I played
Jump: L1
Ability 1: R3
Ability 2: R1
Ability 3: ^
Primary: R2
Secondary: L2

I have this issue with Echo. I can’t hold left trigger to glide, like I do with Pharah, without using sticky bombs. I tried re-mapping stickies to L3 once, but it didn’t feel good. I now just sometimes use stickies for no reason while floating.

I default jump to L1. This allows me to wallhop without taking my fingers off the buttons, and since it worked for Lucio, it worked for everyone else too.

I think it probably won’t be that bad. The trouble with console button configurations is that the default has jump on A/X, and you can’t press that while aiming (unless you play with the claw grip, which most people don’t do). So if you need to use the jump button a lot (and therefore need to aim while doing it), there needs to be some other ability that you can take off of one of the triggers and bumpers without it being really annoying.

What that means is basically that you need to either map an ability onto X/A or to pressing down one of the sticks. Both present issues. Using X/A is only viable for an ability that doesn’t need any aim and that you don’t do while otherwise aiming. Meanwhile, pressing down on one of the sticks is, at least IMO, extremely annoying if it’s an ability you use a lot (for me, it hurts my hand a lot to press down on the stick frequently). So, for heroes that use jump a lot, you either need an ability that you do without need of any aim, or something that you don’t use very often. Examples of that are Mercy Rez and Lucio Amp it Up. Those heroes use jump a lot, but it’s fine because they each have an ability that can viably be mapped to X/A or to a stick.

I suspect Juno will have a similar solution here. Specifically, I think the speed ring ability is both not really going to require aim, and also is likely to have a long cooldown. So I suspect I’ll just map that to pressing down one of the sticks (could also map it to X/A, but to me the stick is better if there’s any aim required whatsoever for it, which there would be here to position the speed ring), and then that opens up a trigger or bumper for jump.

As everyone has said, I use L1 (left bumper) for jumping across all the characters. You can very easily jump and adjust your aim/camera at the same time.

And this is why Console will always be restricted to movement sadly…

I’m pretty sure they added automatic glide for Echo and Mercy, toggled on after using their movement ability. It’s in controls/hero specific options, under advanced.

Automatic glide isn’t helpful because it activates even you don’t want it. So you still have to re-map buttons if you want to “not glide” whenever you fall

I’ve never tried re-binding for movement, and I’m too comfortable with how it is now hah, maybe I’ll try it out with Juno

Can’t you toggle it off with crouch?

Yea crouch needs to not be “toggle” and rather “hold to crouch” or whatever. Pretty sure.
