Junkrat's Total Mayhem Passive

I’d prefer have it over nothing, but it’s bad. Buffing it encourages bad habits and incentivises poor Junkrat play. Instead, how about:

Ground Superiority

  • Junkrat gets a certain % damage reduction (and/or headshot reduction) if shot from a downward angle of greater than __°

Don’t get me wrong, I adore seeing in the kill feed that some fool either got trapped in my death bombs or just walked over them/was too low health to escape their damage value, but buffing a reward or consolation for dying in this game shouldn’t be where we move to improve Junkrat, ever.

Why do genjis deflect tm? That’s my question.

Feels weird in overwatch, if he thought he was superior to people why not but junkrat seems pretty humble

Lolwut?

Just me then, my bad.

I highly encourage you to find one voiceline or interaction from the game or canon lore out of it that implies Junkrat is humble

i always insta deflect after killing a junk if im right up close, i avoid taking damage and theres a chance one of his teammates walk over it

Yeah, just me then, my bad.

To pad my stats, basically.

Lol np. He literally has a skin where he’s decked out in The Crown Jewels he stole :stuck_out_tongue:. That’s some bravado to say the least!

He never really addresses any of the other heroes as their superior or maligns them for their character flaws. It’s not exactly the Budhist vibe of Zen, Genji and Hanzo, but he’s far from being arrogant and pompous - more like a Madhatter.

Oh IDK. Also Hanzo is like the definition of arrogant and pompous.

“Outta my face, ya drongo!” which is apparently calling others idiots in Australian.

I don’t exactly see Junk as humble nor polite, more legit crazy.

I imagine it’s a matter of perception, he kind of plays the “court jester” role in the Overwatch universe - which I think is a pretty selfless role. Arrognce for me is more Symmetra, she has that kind of grating personality that you want to leave on the road side after an 8 hour drive.

It is personal perception, but I was never arguing Junkrat is arrogant, just that Hanzo very much seems arrogant where you implied Hanzo wasn’t. All I took issue with was accusing Junkrat of being polite and humble, his personality —to me— doesn’t really read that way at all.

But taking this back to the original topic, do you have an opinion on Junkrat’s current passive or the suggested one above? I only named it ‘Ground Superiority’ based on the game’s history of having Aerial Superiority as a brawl as well as playing off of that Pharah voiceline.

But even after Genji deflects Junkrat’s passive bombs – he can still die to them cuz he doesnt have Junk’s passive for no self-damage.

When I rip-tire from cover, I ofren put trap on myself. Chances are that Genji will search for me, kill me – and then die from total mayhem even if he deflects it, lol.

I don’t think a passive that generates an effect on death is a mechanism that can/should be used to balance a character, but I’m indifferent to buffing or nerfing it. I think it would be more interesting if it was an effect that is generated from a damage threshold , so for every ~120 damage within ~1 second he drops grenades and it automatically procs when he dies as well. Sort of the “acid blood” from Aliens dilemna, shoot at him when he’s too close and you get “sprayed.”

Hanzo is a weird character, he legitimately comes off as remorseful to me - which I read as a sign of humility.
