Junkrat should damage himself. He should do less damage

He shouldn’t do the amount of damage he does considering he’s the lowest skill floor hero and requires 1% aim.

How is he the lowest skill floor hero?

And even if it is low, he has a very high skill ceiling

I’ve played him. His capability to do tons of damage with a shot into the enemies general direction with a bomb combo is just stupid. It does not take mechanical skill with junkrat to 1tap a hero to death.

You can shoot into the enemies team general direction and land a bunch of medals and kills. His ult is the lowest skill requirement of all the ults.

Generally, he is incredibly, and I say this after playing all the heroes, INCREDIBLY stupid easy to pick up and snooze my way to victory. You do not need any sort of mechanical skills with Junkrat to plow the enemy team. You do not need to aim.

So why doesn’t anyone play him?

Wait wait… lemme guess… … it’s coming to me…

People don’t want to play a hero when they’re so cheesy right?

Hmmm… you must be a really good Junkrat then. Either that, or the enemy team was feeding and not paying any attention to Junk. I’ve had those games before. But when you go against skilled hitscans that have 40-50% accuracy… it’s something else.

I won’t deny he can be easy sometimes tho, but he has a very high skill cap in what he can do. His kit at first may seem one dimensional but there’s actually many creative ways you can utilize his mines and nade geometry that add depth to his kit.

I mean, he’s kind of easy to avoid taking damage from. Just avoid tight spaces really. He’s also super easy to kill, slow moving, ball shaped hitbox. Also his ult is super easy to take out, which is why junks have to take weird routs or explode it right away to get value out of it. I definitely don’t think he needs a nerf

First of all, Junkrat’s has a respectful skill ceiling when you learn how to direct hit enemies especially ones with mobility rather than just spamming.

Second of all, He doesn’t have any crazy damageput… He’s just bursty.

3rd, he already lacks range. Letting him damage himself again would just make him useless again like he was before.

4th. He has enough counters for both close and long range

5th. It’s not scgo here, it’s overwatch. Heroes are allowed to have impact even without too high skill, but they pay with more limited skill. In Junkrat’s case he has ton of counters and he’s only really good on chokes, small rooms and if you have the highground.

D.va,Genji,Winston,Widowmaker,Echo,Pharah,Roashog,Ashe,Ana,Zenyatta, Baptiste, Symmetra, Hanzo,Soldier:76 are all examples of heroes that are strong against him. You can even put Torb’s turret here because of the high ground and range…

Heroes with higher skill might require more rewards for being good with them, but it doesn’t mean you should make low skill heroes unplayable. There more than enough ways to keep them good while still rewarding skill, with the best example being amount counters and amount of heroes they are good against.

Junkrat is just very good at punishing slow compositions, I wouldn’t be surprised if most experiences you had against him was while running brawl. Running Rein-Zarya is a death sentence against him… Either dive, kite or play range.

It takes a master’s degree in physics and knowledge of rocket science to properly play Junkrat. Stupidly high skill ceiling.

You should take him up then.

have you tried fighting a soldier or mcree midrange in an open area like end of point A junkertown?

Can we not? :expressionless:

He is a bit of an odd paradox compared to most heroes.

He has a very high skill ceiling on his direct grenade hits and you can do some pretty amazing things with him when you master his concussion mines

Especially if you can land direct-hit grenades on enemies who are mid-air

(ie someone who is knocked above a barrier with a concussion mine and then picked off with a direct grenade before they hit the ground)

But… it is also true that low skill players can get a lot of value out of him by spam firing in the general direction of an enemy without that kind of precise projectile aim. Probably more than a player with lower mechanical skill might get on most heroes.

That said, he is arguably a bit on the weaker side right now. Why would you want to nerf him?

His biggest team contribution has historically been the damage he puts out from direct hits on barriers and his ability to arc projectiles above/around barriers. So naturally, he has been a somewhat weak pick ever since barrier health was dropped a lot, shield-break potential became less valuable, and long-range hitscan heroes who can kill him beyond his effective range became standard dps picks.

Plus, he is not great against the commonly played rein/zarya tankline because Junkrat probably provides more unintentional energy charge to zarya than any other hero.

If anything, I think he might be due to have his health bumped up to 225 hp alongside McCree and Symmetra.

Because, and I am going to go out on a limb here, he is playing someone who junkrat counters.

You are not alone!

I play Genji a lot and yes Junkrat does way too much dmg, esp for concussion mines. And don’t even get me started on the RIP-Tire. So many times, Junkrat will scream ‘‘FIRE IN THE HOLE!!’’ and the next second both supports and a dps instantly die. The only hero more unfun to play against other the Junkrat is Pharah (cuz not all of us are good with hitscan I have to play Sombra and permahack her)

Shut up, he takes more skill to play than Genji.
