Good Junks hit consistent primary fires and air shots, this will make both of those significantly easier to hit, and he still has his mines. So it will change something, how much is the question.

And the problem with junkâs combo is that it requires no aim but rather that someone just that someone be near the rat. And being near someone to achieve it is not hard. You can simply drop close to them. His combo is too easy to do, much easier than hog is now with all hog counters considered.

Iâm torn in two on this issue. On the one hand, instakills are really frustrating for everyone but the instakiller, so Iâm rather in favor of limiting them. On the other hand, taking it away from certain heroes like Junkrat means you take away their only skill expression. I would first make his footsteps a lot louder, to limit his ability to flank unnoticed (if you can hear Cassâ boots from a mile away, you should be able to hear a peg leg from a mile away), and also make his mine damage him, like dynamite does for Ashe, to limit his ability to âflyâ. And maybe put mines on a longer CD. See what happens with that before making him stronger in low ranks (bigger projectiles means more spam) and weaker in high ranks (loss of combo).
A noob hero like junk should not have insta-kill. Especially not a hero that gets most of his value in low ranks from pure spam and very little skill. Yes, he requires more skill as you move up, but he seems like a hero intended for noobs.
Wouldnât that be Soldier then? If landing projectiles is harder as you climb then a simple hitscan like 76 must not have a high ceiling.
Soldier doesnât have a cheese instakill though which is better design for noob heroes. Imagine they game moira an instakill?

Read what you just said. Then remember that theyâre buffing the size of his nades which makes his spam stronger while hard nerfing a playstyle only effectively used in gm.
Heâs buffed in metal ranks and probably unplayable in high so just like what always happens when heâs nerfed the metal ranks celebrating on here will be back crying about him within a week since the changes donât nerf the players in their matches.
You make it sound like low ranks donât get instakills with junk. I can assure you they do. Itâs not exactly hard which is why it is good it is nerfed.
Almost all of his value in low ranks comes from spam and tire. This is why despite his last nerf that took mine damage down to 100 sending him to D tier in top ranks with almost all of his top 500 representation disappearing he continued to be strong in metal ranks and the same people in here started demanding more nerfs. I even called that would happen. It was later partially reverted since he was unviable in high ranks.
The occasional combo isnât the difference maker in gold. It just isnât. The playstyle used down there is spamming and not flankrat.
Why would anyone come back crying when whatâs being celebrated is the primary mine combo being removed? His primary having a bigger hitbox doesnât change that being gone

No more one shots, no more burst damage, but IMO, the TTK will be pretty low as they increased the projectiles size (if you play Paladins you know what I mean). Youâll be more team dependent, IMO, but you can still go solo flank. Your dps that were struggling to hit shot today will be more effective next season, so no, your character is not trash tier; you just will not be the guy solo killing more than two people all by yourself because of stupid combosâŚ
For the same reason as the last time his mine was nerfed and people celebrated only to start complaining again within a week. Combo nerfs do not have a major impact on golds.

One thing to consider is Rat needed his combo in a world where there are other heroes balanced around that same kind of thing. If thatâs changing, maybe he doesnât need it so much any more.
I also play a lot of Rat and I agree that at the very least we shouldnât preemptively increase his damage. Letâs see how S9 plays out. There will certainly be followup tweaks.

Junkrat in season 9 is useless despite the projectile buffs, simply due that specific heroes in question will be significantly better than him with all the buffs in general.
If Junkrat cannot kill, Junkrat is overly useless. The only thing going on after season 9, is AoE splash damage to trigger the passive⌠but weâre likely going into a shield meta⌠in which Junkrat is required to hit 3 to 4 shots on a single target without them being healed essentially.
I get the combo has to be removed to make logic with the rest of the game, after all, even Hanzo got on the chopping block, but really speaking off, if Junkrat goes into season 9 like this, an honest rebalancing of the hero or a rework should be a question to be asked imo.
I might actually switch to one of my other projectile mains, Junkrat wonât be viable if anything.
