Junkrat has a fairly normal pickrate and winrate, as per overbuff. A nerf with no compensations, especially a huge one like reducing his primary fire projectile hitbox enormously, is going to push him far into underpowered territory.
If he’s going to be nerfed like this he needs something big to make up for it, or he’ll just fall right back into being useless again. I don’t even know what could possibly make up for it.

This isn’t a huge nerf at all. It’s bringing him more in line with other DPS heroes.
Rip-tyre is extremely hard to evade, and still is on the PTR; it just opens some more counter play.
Reducing the projectile size of frag launcher is almost un-noticeable…

33.3% is not unnoticeable. Its massive.

If you play Junkrat on Live then swap to PTR he pretty much feels the same…

Yeah, it’s huge. I think it’ll make Junk totally useless for anything other than shieldbreaking and pretty much 100% inferior to pharah in all situations.
I honestly think this might put him in a worse place than 1 mine Junk.

Now you have to actually aim the projectiles (still in the general area of the enemy team), but you won’t be able to sit in a corner lobbing 'nades.
These changes will not put Junkrat in a worse place than 1 mine Junk… you’re forgetting that tyre is still incredibly hard to avoid.

Yeah, because you’re going to ult so often when you can’t hit anything.

Its same, I really feel like no difference, its to stop the total random nonsense spam he is doing right now on choke points. Have you even tried him on the PTR or you just write random?

They should let junkrat be able to crit via head shots. They nerfed his aoe he needs something.
i agree
people complained about junkrat when he was considered f tier and didn’t need any changes so its a bad idea to base needing nerfs upon endless forum complaints because people refuse to learn how to play against a hero

I just got off the PTR and could tell no difference in Junkrat at all. Or genji for that matter.

In theory. But it doesn’t do a great deal to his direct hits. You are still going to be aiming at them, not to their very side. All it does is limit the amount of times you see one pass a mile by your side on the floor and somehow trigger despite the projectile not seeming anywhere near you.

The nerf to Junkrat is extremely small. It is a fob to get the forum criers to shut up.

Over 250 hour Junk main.
Played about an hour on the PTR with the changes.
Tire is considerably slower. Wiki says 15 meters per second. Patch notes says it’s going from 13 - 12. I better not hear anyone complaining about not being able to counter it now. Because it’ll be hard as hell to actually get any good kills with it.
Nade change is a huge change. They have drastically lowered the size by 33.3% which is huge to the radius which only has a 12.5 damage at it’s furthest point. Even testing at the bots, it’s actually having to encourage having 3 shots against them if not direct hits, vs the initial 2.
They keep trying to tighten up his damage which you can’t do for an inconsistent hero like Rat. All these nerfs to his blast radius and nade damage effect is just giving him a slow death. We had a few months as Rat to shine, and now they are just getting us prepared to be back into F-tier.
All because forums criers couldn’t ever adjust. They couldn’t actually learn to pay attention, strafe, and use teamwork with their shield tanks. Instead they just had to come to the forums and complain.
(Edit remove Tracer stuff. Didn’t notice that part) Rat is #17 and #16 respectively in Master/GM. Even beat out by Ana. Obviously not the powerhouse DPS that people keep complaining about.

Finally someone else who understands game balance. Thank you.

His projectile size was the biggest frustration for me about his kit. To get hit even tho I clearly dodged it on my screen was so annoying.
I’m up for a buff if he underperforms from now on, but no buff to invisible hitboxes please.

Well, if it helps, check out prolikechro comments on the nade changes on Twitch. The top 500 Junk and high GM since season 2.
He thinks it’s better for more situational things. Like, shooting through tighter points (like windows on Eich for example) but pros and streamers aren’t the goto opinions for everything.
After all, PvP said that Genji, Soldier, and Tracer were all OP and weren’t changed back then.
But yet forums say that they aren’t OP.
Yeah, but he’s also THE Junkrat one-trick.
Sure, what pros and streamers opinion aren’t goto but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t carries weight.
Point is, the changes are a bit significant but it won’t throw Junkrat to F-tier. It’s still alright.
