Junkerqueen....how does she work?

i just stink with her. been trying her out in this new open queue mode since maybe an off-tank but yea sometimes that doesnt happen. as a solo tank she seems just so fragile. might as well play a real dps hero

overall since her release ive only played her for 16 hours with 115 games but only won 41 lol, so an abysmal 36% winrate. i just cant seem to figure her out i guess? the last 5 games i have played with her all losses.

anyone main or play her a lot? any tips? should i just play someone else? i do VERY WELL with dva but as junkerqueen i feel like paperqueen

I would focus on her distance and her knife for healing. Her healing with the knife supports her sooooooooooo much. People really under estimate it

Always be damaging, she is an aggression damage tank.
Melee people when they’re close for an extra bleed/heal tick.
The more people you hit with the axe swipe the faster it resets.
The perks also support this now.
The issue is if you get anti-naded it all falls apart.

7 in a row losing streak. im being really stubborn now lol… maybe im just not accurate enough with her. i feel like you have to land that knife and if you dont might as well run

Worst case is when you run forward without cover while taking fire.

To avoid that, you can stand and shoot.
Use corners, objects to get closer.

Use your knife… any time. Throw it, if it hits no one, call it back immediately (unless you’re full life, then you can wait to hit some targets on its way back).
Melee everyone you can as long as you carry the knife, it will inflict wound DoT and gives you little healing.

If knife hits a target, time it with Axe. If Axe ain’t ready, a close range shotgun can still do the job especially if your mates are around you, the wounded target will most likely die.
Its not very important if you don’t hit everytime. You can actually hit several targets on its way back and her regen will stack. It also delays passive regen from players and it grants little ultimate.

If you know you’re not gonna hit, just aim further and try to vizualise the way back of it to maximize the numbers of targets hit by calling it back.

Shout to help mates if you feel like your team is retreating. It can be a good tool to start a stagger : once 2 enemies have died or retreat, her shout will allow all your team to hunt survivors down.

She’s very good in close quarters and can litteraly set deadly traps with axe. Use it around corners.

Her shotgun is hitscan so it can hit Pharah/Echo quite easily. Not sure its efficient to aim for head.

For Perks, I usually go with Shout reloading and lifesteal on Axe.

Queen hates Brig/Lucio, anything that boops her back or can run fast. She’s also map dependant. Good luck playing her on Attack on Circuit Royal.

The best way I can descibe it is “You have to choke them. But you have an axe, and a a knife”
It’s all about pressure. And as soon as you lose any, you die lol
So keeping bleeds up is important. And not getting absolutely countered. That’s the problem with Queen that Rein doesn’t feel as badly, because shield.

You can be a great Queen, but a Pharah will just make you swap. Sustain can only do so much.
Any time I get momentum on queen, there’s a swap. Two tanks helps with that, but it still makes your pressure thing significantly more annoying.

heh finally won a game but that is because i was backfill and i couldnt pick tank since two. picked moira and actually was a backfill win for that team. i helped tremendously. felt good to play something im good at heh

junkerqueen feels so bad when i play her but yea i think its just me

If you get Biotic Grenaded, you pop Command Shout as counterplay.

I like Knife refreshes on bleeds, and yeah, lifesteal upfront for Carnage works really well.

Lucio is a pain, Brigitte isn’t worth a bother.

Pharah’s not a problem with hitscan Scatter Gun.

If you’re going up against two Tanks as Junker Queen, you’re going to lose. She’s better off dueling than taking both at once in 6v6. Helps to have Zarya as a co-Tank, or someone equally aggressive to cover you.

You are a small target for a tank (Slim probably better term), with high sustain.

There are a few ways you can engage with her.

Knife throw → Pull → Shoot → Melee → Carnage is a good start

To really be aggressive you can shout, carnage into the enemy team (Looking for 2+ per swing), and just go ham.

Just always be mindful of your own health and where your supports are, and you can run around almost immortal, outside of a few certain heroes (Kiri, Ana)

If you miss the knife throw make sure you position yourself between an enemy and the knife when you recall it to at least get bleed ticks (multiple people if possible). Then melee anyone close to also build those. Axe groups to get it’s cooldown reduced and get it out there more when you have the chance. Just the more wound ticks you have out the better you are staying up so keep applying them.

Yeah, but the rockets are much more effective from a reasonable distance. And it’s burst damage. And it’s dps, so your bleeds are nerfed. Pharah is annoying with no shields ):

Also also, Queen’s strength changes depending on if you’re playing 5v5 or 6v6.

Had trouble learning her as well but i saw this flats vid a few weeks ago, and watched it again just now;

I feel like Queen gives the illusion to the enemy tank that its a fair trade when they are posturing against each other on the front line, except that queen has self healing.

So even though both are pushing forward and putting themselves at risk looking for angles, only the non queen tank is actually getting damaged. Its important to note that he doesnt take off angles like a roadhog would so his supports are always healing him as he face tanks the frontline of the enemy.

I feel like Queen has all the tools to poke as close to the enemy as possible until something happens and then she can resspond, making her really good at reacting or acting second.

Flats always looks for the knife throw, though due to his sub par aim skills he rarely lands it and gives the impression that the value from knife throw comes from the act of throwing it for the sake of throwing it rather than its actual ability description.

Its extremely clear that axe swing is queens most important ability, Flats uses it as soon as he iss in range of the enemy tank and will use it throughout the fight. He obviously makes the decision that after every time he uses axe swing to immediatelly back pedal toward his supports as queen is vulnerable at thiis point.

If he uses axe swing and is out of position with something about to put his life in danger, he pops command shout for the movement speed to out maneuver whoever is making a play on him.

If he wants to use axe swing on the backline instead then he will pop command shout to get to them.

Lazstly if ever he is low hp and needs command shout to survive, then this is usually the end of the team fight so you shouldnt be scared to pop it.

I wouldn’t call it counterplay if you’re in the middle of a brawl it’s more of just an exit strategy. Suddenly all those wounds you were leeching stop working.

Also Kiriko makes JQ a rough proposition as well… and zarya. Not impossible. Just harder.

Kiriko isn’t really a problem. Zarya’s more of an even match-up. These are more related to issues of timing than anything else, and Junker Queen’s cooldowns are shorter and easier to bait out.

Kiri just because she can cleanse a group after a good carnage, though Lucio guarding their tank and booping her as she axes is better because she misses the hits and doesn’t get the cooldown reduction either.

ok finally starting to win some games with her and coming out being the top damage. yea really team dependent. dont think i was getting heals some games or i think she is best if the team stays clumped together. most of the time when i play her everyone is all over the place and im stranded in my own island. better as team brawl i guess?

Soundwave is harder, because you’ll always have to compete with it every Carnage. Protection Suzu, you can force a lot of Wounds on multiple targets or just force Kiriko to use it before you Rampage or Carnage them. Easy enough. Just like Deflect is easy enough to use to bait out certain cooldowns.

Eh, cover always works. Rockets aren’t burst damage, Pharah is built around artillery and sustained damage, so she’s actually a little tougher for a Tank like Junker Queen to take out. But a direct hit knife and just standard fire and cover works well enough. You can also try and bait her to come to you.

Otherwise, if she’s got back-up, yeah, you’re going to need some help here.

Definitely a brawl tank, your shout on your whole team really helps a push

Very low bronze here,
I was once with a JQ on quickplay, they played her completely rabid and effectively. They would charge THROUGH the enemy team (drawing all the aggro), tear into their supports (killing 1, sometimes 2) and generally cause such havoc that we would win the battle after her death. She did even better when I just solo focused her with my heals and rez. I like support and mercy’s easy.

Watching the playstyle, I think you gotta play her like genji and not as a tank. No formation, taking ground or defending your team.
