Junker Queens Axe ability (Carnage) cast time is too long when compared to the cast times in the rest of the game. Its one whole second. 1000 ms. It feels clunky, the axe strike isnt that powerful, why is it so slow?
Sigma rock cast time is 640 ms
Reinhardt firestrike 500 ms
Rein Shatter 450 ms
Orisa Javelin 300 ms
Ana sleep 300 ms
Why is Junker Queen axe 1000 ms? It feels like an oversight made by different balance designer developers, not like an actual thought out decision consistent with the rest of the game.
In my opinion it should be 750 ms max, but it would be balanced at 700 ms too, easily, since Junker Queen is not one of the best tanks right now. I cant believe the recent patch touched the Carnage ability without realizing the cast time is so out of place.

honestly it should just be her melee attack
Her combo is Knife, Pull, Carnage. It has a long cast time to slow down her damage, otherwise we would have the same problem they are trying to solve with Hog.

Its not the same problem as hog, because hook not only had more range than knife pull carnage has, but players also arent stunned during the knife pull, they can use cooldowns, shoot back etc.
750 ms would still be a long cast time compariatively. It would just feel less clunky than 1000 ms
If the community cant agree about something obviously wrong like this cast time then we really cant agree abkut anything. Something so blatantly out of place still gets defended, really?

I’m not buying it, your basically saying “if the community cant agree with me then they can’t agree about anything.” The cast time is not an issue and not what is holding JQ back as a tank.
Its her best ability, imo.
I like how slow it is though, it feels good to cast it at a corner and suddenly appear to land the blade in the enemy’s mouth.
Maybe it could use a buff but with the CD reduction, I feel it could be quickly OP.

yes I am saying that because its so obvious that the cast time of that ability is out of place. within a year the cast time will be reduced because then devs will eventually see it imo, I would just like it to be as fast as possible. Its not a change supposed to really buff JQ any huge amount, its more of a QoL (anti clunkiness) and consistency change, since abilities should be consistent between each other, you cant have one ability just randomly have 100-300% more cast time than others of its category, unless its so much more powerful than those other abilities, which carnage is not.
It is so obvious to me too. Most people don’t play her so they just say anything.

I’m guessing they reduce the cd on her shield. The cast time is part of how she plays, learn to start the cast on a corner, or right as you do your knife pull.
Im not saying remove the cast time. Im saying its so long that its clunky and inconsistent with the entirety of the rest of the game. It should be around 0.7 sec (which would still be longer cast time than any similar cooldown), and you would still be able to cast on a corner and swing right as you peek around it, or right when you knife pull. I have experience in modding melee slasher games for a competitive audience and I know what difference what amount of miliseconds in a windup of a weapon makes, and to me this ability is a thorn in the eye, it does NOT have to be 1 sec, it just makes it feel clunky for literally 0 reason.
I actually agree here, it’s just a tad too long. Feels clunky and leaves you vulnerable until you’ve swung. Gives time for others to move away. On the flip side, I could see how that’s a balance issue but I think being similar to the Sigma rock cast time is fair, assuming your numbers are correct.

It not only gives time for others to move away, its like they have time to see the axe coming, take a sip of water and then move away… I think there should be enough time to react to cooldowns like these, the average human reaction time is 200 to 250 ms, but with latency its safer to have cooldowns begin at around 300 or 350 ms. 700 ms is plenty of time to react still, but 1 whole second is like sloth reaction times.
Yeah, it’s clunky. Mots of her kit doesn’t feel good… like, how much damage did I do? How much damage is stacking? Honestly, after killing people with her, I often feel like I don’t know what I did right to earn the kill.
