This event is kind of lame, I expected more
You play it like 2 times and you’ve had enough. Kinda pitiful event tbh

did you do all the hidden challenges?
Yeah but if play it you get lootboxes that you can then open to get the cosmetics for the eve-
Wait…
Nvm…
There’s not even enough different dialogue branches…sure Retribution was repetitive but there was so much banter that I KNOW I still haven’t heard.
Heck I know I haven’t heard all the banter in OG Junk’s Revenge with the extended roster.
It took me a total of 4 playthroughs to complete the challenges. Not including the expert and legenday challenges, cause those are rather impossible with random groups.
It would last longer for me if I could play it as my main. I thought it was really well done, just don’t want to be stuck with 4 characters.
Yeah i was kinda disappointed there was no “all heroes” mode. Just for fun.
I think this event was designed by the B team. I feel like it was a Middle School homework assignment.
It doesn’t bode well for the upcoming PvE expansion. They just slapped high HP and damage on every boss and call it “higher difficulty”. It gets boring really fast.
Played twice, got Sojourn both times, got bored played a regular round of OW or two.
It’s not poorly done, just low replay.
I got “Knock knock” “Witches Brew” and “Photozombed” all in one go, halfway through the shock tire thing in that same go, and decided I had no real desire to try again as Ashe, Kiri or JQ. Nothing against 'em but I’m not big on Kiriko or JQ and Ashe would just be Sojourn but more headshotting so…
It’s better than junkenstein’s revenge, but it’s not better than the archives. It feels like they had to spend all their effort redesigning the map and then reused assets for everything else.
Wish there were more heroes and different interactions for the plot points.
I just relaunched the game to try it.
Story mode because I have not been playing Overwatch 2 and didn’t get a hang of the feeling, plus I had to pick Junkerqueen which I never played and didn’t know the abilities.
It was a miserable experience.
The game mode isn’t bad per say, I just had no idea what I was doing or where to go.
I don’t know if higher difficulty are more interesting but the principle around it is exasperating.
“Let’s put the three new heroes in the mode even though they’re not adapted to it.”
Junker queen against explosive enemies is not the best choice.
The mobs are underwhelming compared to archive and the boss fight aren’t that interesting.
If I had to be honest, I prefer Junkenstein. At least you have a clear objective: hold the door, which adds a little strategy and organisation between team members.
Here, I don’t see why I would play this mode over…Killing Floor or Vermintide which does it better.
I guess it could have been more fun if there were achievements tied to it but it doesn’t even seem to be the case.
All in all, it was mediocre.
Why though? It’s been the same PvE since 2016. I can’t wait to see these forums if/when the PvE comes out next year. It’ll be the exact same gameplay but with levels, and maybe some new abilities and perks for PvE.
Most people got those within the first few hours of going live. Not like they were all that super hidden.
It is just 2 weeks for a reason but expect it to be reused for the next few years.
It is an improvement over the old mode but I will definitely be more critical towards the replayability of the main pve modes when they comes.
All I’ve got left to do for it is Expert and legendary, but it doesn’t seem doable with randoms? I was able to do all the archive ones on legendary (the rialto one was hell but still doable). The synergy of the character seems ehh when it comes to the exploding bots and it seems high ground and carting like its a COD zombies map seems to be the only way to stay alive (rip junkerqueen).
Just like the old event. One could think they reused assets and kept effort to a minimum. But who am i to judge. Isn’t PvE comming out at some point too? How high are your hopes for that not be utter dog .
I thought it was great. They’ve made some really nice improvements to the systems (e.g. being able to crawl when knocked down so you can get to a safer revive point), and they’ve added more dimensions for controlling the difficulty, which means that the enemies can hit a bit harder in the lower difficulty levels while still making the mission overall very accomplishable. I think the number of failed objective attempts is higher at lower difficulties (maybe infinite in story mode?), and also the minimum incapacitation time goes up with the difficulty level. To me, these make the difficulty scaling feel a lot smoother.
I also thought the spooky theming and the jump scares were quite fun. The Banshee’s animations were very slick, and I legitimately jumped when I found the key for the first time.
i’m sorry but it was super clear what you were doing. there is literally a narrator explaining whats going on.
why
Where to go? Sometimes there are unclear objective like with the banshee. You have to search a key. I don’t remember if the narrator is saying it but anyway you can hear your characters say something like “what is that light?”
To which I answer: which light?
There are many times when we began to explore, crawl under doors because when we arrive in front of the castle, the door is locked. Apparently, Ashe has to destroy it with dynamite but it doesn’t work right away. So we began to search which door the game was talking about.
What I was doing because I didn’t know Junker Queen and her abilities. I think she pretty much sucks by the way, especially her ultimate. I don’t know if it’s the same in quick play and I don’t care. Quick play is bad since Overwatch 2 anyway.
But I don’t hold my lack of orientation or experience with this hero against this game mode.
The fact remains I had more of a blast playing archive missions with special enemies and a real synergy between heroes.
Like I said, Junkenstein’s revenge was more fun because the mobs used in this mode at least advance towards the door and make it more of a team game.
Even if I pick a higher difficulty, the game will remain the same. Mobs are not exactly terrifying, even when you hear “fire in the hole”, it was your cue to pay attention in Junkenstein. Not here.
It’s all really boring.
