Since this post i jumped on QP again and lost 4 more games in a row. My record is sitting pretty at 1-11 for the last 4 days.
This is just disheartening. The people i play against always stomp us. Here’s how each match went
Horizon - Lost in under 3 minutes on defense.
Blizz World attack - stone walled for 5 minutes
Durado - overtime snuck to first point, stone walled after.
Oasis 0-2, last point was 99vs0
Lijiang 2-1 - only won 1 round because i smashed on pharah (with a mercy pocket.) Entire enemy team counted with widow hazno and mcree, was forced off.
Durado - got to second point in overtime, destroyed by enemy team when they stopped memeing (they had a Sym, Torb, Bastion for the first half)
We lost to 6 supports on oasis… i just… someone send help, please. (Sym, Zen, Ana, Moira, Lucio, Brig)
The one win i got? Well, take a look at how the match went. https://i.imgur.com/UQdWNyF.png https://i.imgur.com/86POahm.png
It was one of the most meta comps, in a complete stomp of the other team… yea… fun!
This isn’t fun. At all. 5/8 of my matches were completely 1 sided. I am high plat low diamond so i should be getting paired with about 15-20% of people yet i am still getting games like this.
THIS is the reason people stop trying in qp. This is the reason you see insta-locks on dps. No one cares about losing or winning. Everyone wants to try and 1v6 trickle. Even in a meta where are you need is a zarya and hanzo to win. sympathising with Shanghai Dragons on a spiritual level
EDIT:
This is actually a serious problem, and happens when people AREN’T grouped up too. Here’s some proof:

In the same match.
I know the feeling - played yesterday for 90 minutes and couldn’t understand why I was so frustrated, then after I win I saw how it said “first win of the day” - I had played 90 minutes straight withouta single win.
No wonder I was prepared to throw the controller out the window.
This has been my typical experience for sometime now. 4-5 absolute stomps that make me question why I even logged on, then I finally win in an absolute steamroll that was over before anyone even got a ult up.
This makes it feel like the game is force lossing or force winning. Steam rolls aren’t fun for either side. You might as well not be playing if the match is over in under 5 minutes.
I feel u…but inb4 “its just like kewww peee bruh go play teh kompz and gitgud420360noscope for real!! I’m all like seagull in this piece…platnim xQclulz”
Try being 1970 SR pitted against a 3600 SR Tracer main. Yeah, that happened and you can probably guess how well it went for me.
Why is there a 1k SR difference cap to queue in Comp when QP, which for the record the tooltip states “jump into a game against other players of your skill level,” allowed to have someone nearly twice as high SR wise and exponentially better at the game? 8 minutes of getting thoroughly bullied and dumpstered, only for the next game to have 2700-3100ish SR enemies. Beyond frustrated right now, SO mmr and comp need to be tied more closely together to better prevent stuff like this.
It’s the Summer Overwatch season. It was just as horrible last summer. The wife and I have already committed to just running Quick Play and only playing our least played heroes. We’ll just spend the summer learning them. Our main roster has been sent on vacation. We’re not even trying anymore until September when school and college start again for people. Not even going to attempt to mess with LFG until then, either.
As for Comp, we did Season 6 last summer and it was a train-wreck. We could not be paid to play Season 11 this summer.
To be honest, outside of the mass mercy res, i really do think season 1 was one of the best seasons.
Yes, tracer and genji were rampant. Yes d.va could eat A LOT of ults. However, now you can get stunned out of blizzard and pulse bomb. We haven’t improved, we’ve traded one poison for another.
No, but it definite gets far worse. The summer of 2016 wasn’t bad. We were all new and still learning. Last summer was a bad joke in all modes. A week into this summer, and it’s already atrocious.
Sorry to those who take Quick Play seriously . . . the wife and I do too, as we just don’t really enjoy Comp . . . but this summer I’m not beating my head against a wall again. Just playing our least played, only playing Quick Play, and just learning those heroes until summer vacation ends for folks.
You know what, that’s fine. That’s what QP is about, and you should be playing what you want. Against people of similar skill.
It’s not going to be fun playing a hero you don’t use often, only to run into 4-6 matches of stomps. You can’t even practice a hero because the time you do spend alive you’re trying to avoid getting chased down by 3 people.
I agree that QP should be taken lightly. However there’s a point when matches get so one sided because some are playing their fav hero, while others are having fun memeing, that the matches become completely unfun. That’s not anyone’s fault, i really feel that it’s just the match making’s fault.
Usually, the wife and I play Quick Play like we would play any other PvP mode: to win. Now, granted, it’s Quick Play and we never tell people to switch, what to play, et cetera. But we still play to win within the confines of Quick Play. We don’t really enjoy the Comp match structure, so we don’t play Comp very often.
Brother, after the past 72 hours, we just give-up until summer vacation is over. There’s just no point. Way too many people couldn’t hit the enemy if they were standing still in front of them emoting. And “Objective” is obviously a foreign language word that they’re unable to translate.
And it goes for both teams. I have one hour on Doomfist. Last night I said to hell with it and picked him. I went 3 golds and PoTG. That should never have happened.
So, rather than just come to hate playing the game, we’re going to just play our least played and see what happens with them. Until summer is over, we don’t care if we win. Tonight, we won 2 out of 17. That’s fine. September will be here eventually.
I’d planned to use LFG for Quick Play and find like-minded folks. I’ll just wait until September for that, too.
I’ve been practicing Lucio rollouts and wall jumps in QP whenever my comp friends aren’t on. Problem is I’ll be zipping and weaving and plink, headshot from the window or hanjob that’s 1-1.5k SR above me that is used to playing against Lucio at their level so I’m literally easy pickings. My team proceedes to get mad and accuse me of throwing or demand I switch off “because they’re diamond Lucio mains and I’m silver trash and need to relinquish heroes to the more skilled player” (or something similar) and when we get rolled all the blame rolls downhill to the lowest displayed SR solo on the team, which has been me as of late.
I don’t care if it’s just QP, if people want to emote or dance or take it lightheartedly go ahead, I just want a game against people I stand a somewhat even chance against and for that to happen changes to the way QP mmr creates matches even at the cost of longer queue times. 2 minute queue for a 4 minute game and one minute of cards and medals is not fun, it’s aggravating.
