“Join voice chat please...”

“…Just so I can insult you.”

Why even do this?

No wonder no one wants to join.

In fairness, everyone should be in voice chat in competitive. You can always quickly mute somebody if they’re being truly toxic or disruptive. It’s really frustrating when the people who are in chat are trying to coordinate something and the people who aren’t in it have no idea because they’ve intentionally cut themselves off from communicating with their team. Because of that, when they finally DO get in voice chat, it’s probably because there was a problem, which means tensions will already be high when you get there as opposed to what could have been cooperation from the beginning. People are much more forgiving of mistakes from people who are in chat and communicating what happened.

That is why I join though. I need their salt to sustain myself.

I try to be positive and coordinate with my team.

Often times unless I’m having a good day, I forget to speak after awhile while I’m focused outside of the occasional “good job guys”.

I have a Gold border. I’m yet to have a single positive experience with VC.

Only cowards don’t join the voice chat.

You can mute problematic players manually. You don’t need to deny everyone communication just because of one person. Also, the people asking others to join usually aren’t the ones yelling at you.

Some of them want to use you,
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you,
Some of them want to be abused.
Voice Chat is made of this, who am I to disagree?

I think it depends on how you approach it. I always use it and have had very few negative experiences with it. When people are excessively negative or disruptive, I avoid them for the next match. More often than not, it helps.

I’d recommend being in it from the start, clearly communicating while building your team, and being patient. Don’t call anyone out in an unconstructive way, don’t entertain unwarranted frustrations from your teammates, and keep what you say focused on what is and needs to be happening rather than what’s already happened. Voice chat is absolutely your most valuable tool for success but the experience is largely up to you.

Happily fall under this category. I know all too well the dregs of humanity. I dont tolerate it while enjoying this video game. Call me whatever you want, I’ll never hear it in-game.

lol why on earth would you join when they request

pro tip
in options set team chat to auto join, but set volume to zero and send volume to zero

they will never ask that again cause when they hit p
they will see a sound icon next to your name
but you won’t hear a thing

good luck in your future games

I usually leave it on and listen. Except when I hear someone approaching or need to give a callout.

I guess hearing impairment is cowardice.

Sometimes, though, if you notice the team is nothing but toxic leaving voice chat is smart, rather than fearful. But I do agree most times we should put an effort and give our teammates a chance to show they’re civilized.

I play video games to have fun, not to listen to some whiny jerk complaining about how bad everyone is for 10 minutes straight

always always always re-enable the chat to report the toxic text chat though
after a game

so ya know those types of players get there well deserved bans

Not being in voice just hurts the team if they are communicating. As others have said, if he becomes an issue mute the person or leave once it becomes an issue. In my experience more often than not its either quiet, or ppl calling things out. Sometimes it gets toxic but thats what mute is for and the option to leave. Just not joining from the start hurts the team. But if youre a person who doesnt care, so be it.

You will never grow strong with a weak mentality like that. When society collapses you will be among the first to perish.

But you will? Because you were in voice chat?

That is not my intent. Im perfectly content at my current rank and will happily perish rather than deal with the likes of the survivors.

Exactly. If the rest of the team is communicating and there’s one rotten apple, just mute that person and issue fixed. It’d be a waste otherwise.

Sometimes the whole voice chat engages in fighting, though. That’s when you know to get out but it’s quite rare.
