This is why I believe we should balance around the pro level.
Most of us are not good at the game. Why should they balance around what we as not good players can do? They should balance around what a hero hypothetically CAN do, not what we as not good players do with them.

Just cause you have a monkey Dva tracer and Genji doesn’t mean your playing dive. Nobody really played against it plat and below cause the comms and coordination it takes is higher than what happens in low elos

Basically what he’s saying is that the game will always be imbalanced.
Still, I love this comment and shows that some of you all should sit down and take a hit once and a while. I was ready to play GOATS out for as long as we needed to because I legitimately felt like it was an improvement on everything we’ve had previous, but people complain.
You notice nothing good has come out of complaining in this game?

Because low elo players don’t understand how to play the game, if they balanced it I can assure it would be a terrible mess.

Yeah, I guess you can’t really win either way, it’s just Overwatch, it’s a crazy game, with a massive skill differential, no one will ever be happy really.

Because 60% of the players still matter. It’s not just fractions of the top 1%. If you want a game to succeed it better be fun for as many people as possible.

He balances around them because they know how to play the game correctly, and are playing the game as it was meant to be played. Also, just because bronze doesn’t run GOATs doesn’t mean that we should let the upper ranks fester in the boring hell that is the current meta.

Depends on the context, but considering the amatuers outnumber the professionals by millions. And just because someone is a pro player doesn’t mean their opinion is a good one (see Sombra, Mercy)

The devs balance around the top 1% because Activision sees dollar signs in OWL.
Cities paying to enter their teams.
Physical merch for each team.
Cable sports picking up OWL streams.
Commercial sponsors.
Digital merch.
Their aim is to make them more money there than through the majority of the player base.
This isn’t a game decision. This is a business decision. Don’t be fooled. You think Activision’s CEO taking over operations for Blizzard and their finance team sitting in and driving the conversation in game design meetings is about what is good for the low elo masses?
Nope. It is about top dollar draws. This isn’t a game anymore. It is a product. We aren’t players anymore. We are purchasers.

I still feel, plat/diamond ranks should be taken into account.
The game has no official information on playing the game either, maybe the OW team should team up with pro’s for an official guide or something and have it on the main menu.
Or maybe make an actual tutorial and help the lower ranks actually understand the game, things like peeling, resetting, diving.
Instead of just saying, in these ranks no one plays properly and we don’t balance around them, People take comp seriously even in plat, we want to play like top 500’s, that’s why we play comp in the first place, to get to the top.

Sorry he makes absolutely no sense. If very few people ran dive, then why was the game balanced around a very small percentage of players?
Just like this patch, it was balanced around GOATS, where very few players actually run.

That is true. But they do know more probably. This situation seems like goverment. Devs are the president, we are citizens and pro’s are tge parliament.
So it seems we just need to voice our opinion, even it seems no one listens. We just need to be careful.
