I've given up on the social aspects of overwatch

All text chat disabled, all voice chat disabled, streamer mode to hide usernames on. I give up, there is a severe imbalance of 20% positive 80% negative social experiences in overwatch. I am no longer holding out for those once-a-session cool experiences, I don’t care about the positivity anymore. I just wanna play and enjoy myself, and it’s going well so far. I don’t miss it.

I actually tried this and it works.

play out of pettyness, Like you know a hero or role is bad in a mode but you want to play it? go for it.

I have been spamming hanzo and cassidy in 6v6 comp and people bend their knee every single time if they want to win.

Can’t win them all but I don’t care 2-4 other teammates decided to go dps.
I enjoy my time win or defeat and honestly most my games, I got the hardest support of tanks and supports ever seen. Almost making me feel bad, but then I remember I simply stick to dps. I don’t throw and try my best but I don’t fill support or tank. And it works wonders how well my teammates play.

Same here because of the players and banwatch ready to pounce in case of any wrong think.

Honestly as long as you are trying and aren’t basically just feeding because of your own actions You should never feel bad.
After all, each game, regardless the mode, is just practising a Hobby.

I did this 2 years ago and I’m never coming back. The game feels way better this way.

it’s a shame that we lose out on the social experiences. I think this is a result of

  • getting premium skins on an account- not wanting to get banned
  • hero progression unlocking rare profile customizations - not wanting to get banned
  • the AI that works the report/ban system not understanding nuance - opening your mouth or typing gets you banned
  • some people want casual chats with strangers/to make friends. Some people want competitive coms. The quality of both can be very distracting to other players on the team
  • toxicity is very draining in an old game with long-standing problems. People want to just have fun and unfortunately, interacting with each other ruins that fun

→ don’t use coms of any kind

I’m still making new friends on Overwatch.

for me the only issue is toxicity from others. I don’t have any fear of my account getting banned because I know I don’t get reported a lot/have never been actioned, and don’t usually have any reason to be reported. it’s just not worth toxicity nearly every time I see text in chat, so toxicity being draining is spot-on

I cannot trust myself in chat. If someone is mean to be, I feel the need to also be mean to them. Ha ha ha… Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind? Nah, just the ones dumb enough to mess with me.

I play in a Discord community. I highly recommend doing this if you want to talk to people. I usually disable VC because people have bad etiquette.

ngl I don’t really care enough to join a discord for a game I play very sporadically

At this point yeah, I kinda stopped caring about climbing and now just stick to what I know.

If I can’t climb I can sure as hell dive.

Ignorance is bliss

Flame flame go away come again when my chat is actually enabled sucker :smiling_imp::see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

I had a friend like this. She just turned it off completely for public chat. I dont blame her: it can be a rough world in Overwatch land. I wish you could like censor or filter text chat, like an auto #&@*. It would blank some stuff by accident but it could censor some of the toxicity better.
