If this means I have to do attack and defense on the same map, I don’t want it. I’d play ranked for that, I want all the things you listed in unranked BUT I still want quick matches.
Might as well make unranked more like comp by including both attack and defence on payload/hybrid maps. Since we have to go through all 3 rounds now anyways whenever we get KOTH.
I’m with you, but based on the feedback in the forums and I think the feedback from when they tried that in the beta, the best option is to split the playerbase. There’s clearly 2 different groups of people here and trying to make both happy at the same time is not ever going to work.
I get the comment about queue times but QP queues are pretty short as is.
Hell nah. Hate comp rule set but still want to play against people that are trying to win. Its the reason I don’t play unrated on Valorant, barely play League of Legends and only play competitive OW for the placements to get end of season rewards for gold guns. LONG MATCHES.
To be clear, I don’t ever leave and think leavers are a plague on the game. I just see that there’s 2 types of people based on the way people are reacting to, what I consider to be a very good change, this week.
There’s people like me who want QP to be ranked lite where you play to win but maybe people shouldn’t complain if you aren’t playing the meta or if you want to play Roadhog. And if you have to leave it should be for a good reason like an IRL situation.
And then there’s people who want to take it very very casually and pop in our out as they feel fit. Don’t like the map, leave. Aren’t currently winning and don’t want to actually try, leave. Someone’s cooking bacon, leave. Oh there’s a Sym on the other team, leave. Oh my tank picked Ball, leave.
These two groups have very different objectives. We don’t understand each other. These groups will constantly complain about each other in perpetuity; because, we want different things from QuickPlay.
While I like the idea, my impression is that this isn’t really viable due to queue times. Even just having a single new unranked mode on its own would likely have a pretty big impact, and then adding things like map/game mode choices within that would further limit the player pool. I dont think this game has enough players to deal with that.
It would be for people who want a more serious game but dont really want to play a competitive ladder. Having the comp ruleset (mirror matches) is also a big part of this. I’ve actually advocated for this for years, and my favorite times to play the game have always been off-season competitive and back in the OW2 beta when they used the comp ruleset in quick play. I have no interest in competitive, but I do like the idea of fuller matches with tighter MMR restrictions.
