Like it really goes to show how overkitted this character was in ow1 and how he clearly was not designed for a 6v6 environment when with little to no changes, he instantly worked in a 5v5 environment and has been a top 3 tank in every single season of ow2.
Like genuinely a jack of all trades, master of all:
Best shield in the game
High damage
Good range
A personal eat that gives himself shields (so you can just cycle this with his shield)
A stun that deals hefty damage and also lasts over a second long
And a great ult
Genuinely the only thing he doesn’t have is mobility, but what does that matter when you have everything else. He’s unironically WEAKER than his ow1 counterpart… and is still a top 3 tank in 5v5 lmao. So just imagine how braindead busted this hero was one release and even throughout the latter years of ow1.
A solo tank designed hero, placed into a double tank game.
He’s only one of the top tanks because he’s the only real counter to poke, and hitscan is OP at the moment. If we nerf hitscan down to where they should be, you’ll see people stop playing sig.
Because he’s always been kind of busted. He was a must pick in 6v6 and he’s a must pick here as well.
And don’t forget it’s Sigma’s fault double shield was so bad.
He hasn’t. He was strong season 3, and seasons 7-9. All times when hitscan were incredibly strong. Sig is neutral, him being strong is an indicator hitscan needs to be nerfed.
That said, OW is just another generic seasonal FPS now. It needs to shake things up every season to stay relevant. I agree they need to nerf sig for a bit, but they need to also nerf soldier, sojourn, cass and widow. We need a few seasons where hitscan doesn’t dominate the leaderboards.
It’ll never happen lol. Hitscans have been the top option since… forever. The only times they weren’t was when they physically couldn’t be like GOATs and double shield.
Sigma was incredibly OP in OW1, went largely under the radar and I can not for the life of me figure out why. Everybody complaining about double shield were really only talking about sigma, but too scared to say sigma for some reason.
I think they meant that when everyone was talking about double shield, they all really meant they were talking about sigma… but no one ever actually came out and said sigma specifically. They just kept complaining about double shield as a whole.
