It's official: Sym is being ignored again

Probably a more streamline experience with an extensive campaign you can quickplay through. Its not 2007 anymore you don’t need an overworld hub, just some replay value with alternative endings and build customization. You give the average player about a 80-100 hour campaign you can pump out a new expansions every year or two.

I’m surprised they even mentioned her

I can say I am entirely surprised

Symmetra seems like a no-brainer for change in this game, and I mean seriously so I’m not looking for the tired jokes.

I seriously wonder why they aren’t prioritizing her?

Their response was noncommittal. They could have said we are aware of her problems and there will be a rework in the future.

Instead they went with vague wording of keeping an eye on her.

The problem is sym only works when the game is slower. Their not going to “adjust some numbers” when they come around to her if they think she is a problem. My guess is that they don’t OR if they do the dev team will be 80% hands on deck cranky new heroes so “future” could be years from now. Also it ultimately doesn’t matter if sym isn’t useful in a competitive environment since her kit will work well in PVE.

Also they reworked Orisa because they promised the community less shields. So we went from 3 barrier tanks and possible 3 different choices in shield tank to 2. Which is a big difference in say quick play where the tendency to not pick a shield tank means the probability of you playing against a shield tank is like 10% instead of 60% in OW1.

The Doom rework is to address another community complaint which is the lack of TANKS. You see we think players don’t play roles because of lack of options and not because there is a fundamental issue in the playstyle of the role that people find unappealing. So they gave you more TANK by taking a DPS option away.

“So dramatic.”
“Kindly adjust.”

Symmetra is lower in priority as they are focusing on making the support class more enjoyable for the new PvP. And here you all are, once again, giving Symmetra players a bad name. You all sound like the Karens in the ER complaining the staff is too slow to treat your sprained wrist while the Doctors prioritize the patients who are bleeding out.

Grow up.

You misunderstand the issue. Its their wording. A vague promise to keep an eye on her.

No I am not demanding new Sym now. just acknowledgement that there will be a rework

In that case, Symmetra has already flatlined.

“Adjustments” is not the same as “rework”, which is a necessary move they need to make with her. That’s why we are pressed about this.

I get the cynicism because of how ignored she’s been. The fact that they acknowledged that she’s not the immediate focus (I imagine supports are) makes me feel like they are actually thinking of what to do with her, and that she just isn’t the primary focus right now.

Which I get is still cruddy, you’d think they would give attention to an underperforming hero first. I find some reassurance that they actually verbally acknowledged it.

I do agree its nice that they acknowledge her problems. Hopefully my skepticism is proven wrong and Sym is amazing at launch.

I think the skepticism is valid given how long she’s been ignored. They have to work to earn Symm players’ trust. I hope this is the first step of many to work towards that.

I appreciate their being transparent and candid about the issue, just understandably disappointed.

“Future adjustments” can mean everything.
They’re just saying they haven’t done anything about her yet.

For Junkrat they mentioned changes like increasing the projectile speed and making him more skillful. But for Sym they didn’t said anything. They just said her survivability is bad (aka Mei is Sym but in better) and her beam is also bad.
So I don know why people claim a rework is debunked by this statement.
They’re literally saying nothing in this whole post.

Again with the drama.

You know what I’m going to go say about that. Right?

If your feedback didn’t happen any time in the last week. It doesn’t count.

If your feedback isn’t written in a way to grab attention for a short attention span reader, before they dig into the details. It doesn’t count.

Go make something like this:

[OW2] Symmetra Powershift Fix

Or do you not really care about Symmetra, and just wanna focus on being a

Translation “we hear all you junkrats and syms whining and realize yiu won’t stop until we do something. We don’t really want to but will try to figure out a change that won’t really do anything but seem like we tried.”

Or you know, they’re just not revealing all of the details of what they have planned way ahead of schedule.

They’re focused of Support Heroes right now.

I question how they spent 3+ yrs on this rework of game & didnt think a hero made to benefit from shields wouldnt get weak from removing shields…

wtf have devs been doing all this time :expressionless:

If the Metro leaks are to be believed, none of the PVP reworks for existing heroes was being worked on at all until about late August 2021.

[OW2] Balance Design Blueprint

Heck, they might not have even really gotten started until mid-September after the OWL season running on an early OW2 PVP beta was confirmed.

And then you had holidays, COVID, and Kotick scandals getting in the way.

that just makes it worse as still no excuse for a near 1 yr of work.

you could have a person who never played OW, tell em syms kit’s shield focus, and they would tell you shes gonna drop liek a rock.
