Taking all bets on what the next trend for scapegoating your losses will be.
Hackers?
Botters?
Smurfs? (Kind of had this for a while)
Latency?
Lack of ultrawide support?
Lack of Zenyatta lore?

This has been, and always will be, the biggest, blaring balance issue to ever exist. It is absolutely appalling this hasnât been addressed
Bad Developers.
Done. Root cause. The source of all issues.
Being killed by Brigitte
If I get into a game. Someone tilts on my team and leaves⌠who is at fault?
If I get matched into your game (hypothetically) and play Genji into a brig, moira, winston, zarya and mei⌠would you (and the team) just let me do what I want? Hint: it would be my fault for being an idiot and not switch.
If your argument is âgut gud and you will climbâ then we should stop 100% posts about anything in the game including any OP or underpowered heroes. After all, nothing matters because if youâre good, youâll climb. Give bastion 90% damage reduction⌠Dont complain. If youâre good, youâll climb.
Point is, there are lots of factors that make the climb just plain frustrating. Hackers, throwers, leavers, playing against OP heroes, etc.
The game can be rigged and climbing can be possible. They arenât mutually exclusive, and not everyone who wants more even matches is concerned about raising their SR. Itâs a straw man.
Blizzard please delete brig. She is the source of everything wrong with this game.
I find it funny you take the devilâs advocate approach to this. How much collective SR have people lost to randomly DCs or server shutting down âunexpectedlyâ. Not everyone has the best system. Youâd probably be surprised that intel integrated graphics can actually run this game. Not well, mind you, but playable enough that Iâve done it for four years.
I just played a round only to be met with an unexpected server crash. We were halfway into a game and it most likely booted everyone. It isnât so much complaining about losing than it is about the actual game. I think most people want a better sandbox to play in and Blizzard doesnât want to balance this delicate ecosystem. I also feel like within the four years of this game being out they donât like to explore re-doing anything they think is perfect. Maybe the map design is just flawed. Maybe 2cp should be changed into a better mode that doesnât have aggressive point spawn delay mechanics to be fair.
Do you people not know what the word âriggedâ means? If you can consistently win, then its clearly not rigged. By definition
Its like claiming the blackjack table is fixed while the person right next to you is counting cards and robbing the house blind.
Itâs more like playing a digital version of roulette where black comes up 53% of the time instead of 50%. They need plausible deniability or people conclude itâs unfair and game suffers. Just enough abuse of psychology to increase revenue, without making it blatant.
If youre comparing ow games to roulette, you dont understand one of the two. Or both. Or analogies.
Roulette is about chance. If you honestly think rank is up to chance, youre completely detached from the reality of how this game works.
If you were somehow incapable of making your own luck in this game, people wouldnt smurf and they wouldnt boost. They wouldnt even be able to.
But why would Blizzard favor some and not others? Rigging a multiplayer game implies rigging against and for a certain group of people.
Be gone with your logic!
If itâs being rigged(again, hypothetical, because we have no proof for OR against it), itâs not for or against anyone. The matchmaker isnât trying to keep people down(or up). Rather, itâs trying to slow mobility to keep people playing longer. Blizzard doesnât care if youâre in silver, diamond, or GM. They care if youâre keeping their game alive(and buying lootboxes).
This would be accomplished by offsetting your trends with players on opposing ones to make a game as even as possible. This results in as close to a 50-50 game as possible, whether or not youâre at your real SR. If youâre wondering how this is rigging, I go into more depth here:
Again, Iâm not claiming this is absolutely the case, simply posing a theory. There is quite a bit of reason for Blizzard to have such a system from a financial standpoint.
I forgot to add one: 5G
lack of the lack
Beyond of lack.
So deep in the lack that lack has come out of lack to multiply itselfâŚ
Yâknow, people act like smurfs arenât a big issue, but as someone who plays support in comp exclusively, I get a lot of team mates confirming theyâre smurfs when I offer to pocket any smurfs as Mercy.
Lower ranks are just âwhoever has the better smurf wins.â The Diamond ranked smurfs get rolled by the GM smurfs and then blame team mates for being the ones stopping them from winning. They say âItâs not me! Iâm a Diamond smurf that just bought this level 25 account! YOU ALL have to be the problem!â
I swear though, a smurf thatâs on a losing team is more likely to rage and outright throw compared to a legit ranked player (and by throw I mean deliberately leaving, sitting in spawn, etc.)
Actually just yesterday I had a match (in silver) where one DPS claimed to be a smurf and demanded the other dps give him genji. Then he also demanded that I pocket him (I was mercy) and kept threatening to throw if people didnt comply. He didnt actually throw, and I never checked his profile to confirm if he was a smurf or anything, but you might be onto something.
Devs lack of effort and updates
I donât understand why the developers are not working on a freely accessible interface through which ALL MATCH DATA can be retrieved in a standardized format.
That would eliminate so much confusion.
Instead, projects such as Pursuit.gg, which actually showed relevant information in comparison to Overbuff, are forced to stop.
If everything is fine with the matchmaker, it should be no problem to simply look at 10000 records objectively and prove that.
