So, after rallying for single player endlessly for 4 years (and you’ve probably seen all my threads), it seems forced matchmaking is CONFIRMED. Am I going to return for Season 6 like I was planning to? NOPE
Solo with bots or bust for me. Glad I know now that OW2 S6 was not going to be the return of the era once mourned.
You guys complain about literally everything. If you want a solo FPS go play Doom or Halo campaigns.
Some of us are just really good at making ourself miserable.
People have every right to complain about this when the main game suffered for 4 years and this is what we get.
i love halo and doom, but Overwatch single player missions are a pipedream that I thought was gonna be realised. At least an OPTION would be good
I mean we knew that for years now. I am confused what you expected. I saw the game and immediately recognized the gameplay as L4D with robots instead of zombies about 4 years ago. I am genuinely surprised there were people who did not know this.
l4d lets you play solo with bots. OW2 makes you wait for other players that may or may not be trolls, griefers and bad players disrupting your enjoyment
It didn’t suffer. It was a complete product. Overwatch was a boxed price game and those games always have a shelf life. You guys wanted new content and the only way that was ever gonna happen was by going F2P. It’s not financially viable to keep making new content forever for a game people were only paying $40 for once.
i agree with you here, I defended Overwatch 2 like a battered housewife. but single player was the only thing keeping me hopeful. And all us solo guys get are hero mastery missions? FFA and HMs just arent enough for me
You know it’s funny because one thing I wish Diablo 4 had was matchmaking. Some of the endgame content gets really tough and I had to use LFG to find people to play with.
It would be nice to at least have the options.
and for solo pve with bots? the bots in custom games are great. Team 4 are competent there at least.
My general rule is that if everyone around you is the bad player, the bad player is you.
Basically if you want to do anything below legendary you should very easily be able to do that solo and if you are very skilled probably legendary as well.
Silly question: Did Blizz ever say they were working on a solo campaign for PvE (y’know, before they rug pulled and scrapped it)?
As far as I am aware they were only ever working on a co-op PvE mode. I can’t imagine anyone getting their hopes up of a single player mode, as it was never mentioned.
We can all dream of better things from a game. And not getting what you want out of a game you love can be really disappointing. But you’re saying this as if there were ever a snowballs chance of solo PvE, and as far as I know there never was.
In Archives missions you can usually tell right away whether or not you have a team that is capable of finishing the mission. So you can always quit and queue again.
The only singleplayer mode is hero mastery
but from the quote on Xbox Wire, it mentions you can only play with friends or randoms. No solo option. so even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t be allowed to not fill.
Vermintide, DRG, Warframe, L4D2 all said they are “co-op first” and let you play with bots solo

For a hot second I thought they’d mentioned a solo PvE campaign in years past and I’d just missed it.
I find that hard to believe when OWL was a thing and 40m was poured into it. You can not say to me with a straight face that the game didn’t suffer these last four years
This is Overwatch though… We know the management are incompetent at Blizz. So we cannot expect any kind of ‘industry standard’ here.
If it suffered it was because of the OWL. They made a lot of changes to the game to cater to the OWL which made the game less fun for casual players. As far as content goes it was complete though. This game has too many heroes if anything.
