It's crazy how slight nerfs make people so upset

10hps less healing on mercy won’t make Mercy useless. She still has rez, guardian angel, damage boost, and valk.

2 seconds on a grapple cooldown won’t kill Widow. She still has her one-shot potential. Or is widow picked solely due to her 8 second grapple?

Just seems like everybody is overreacting to pretty minor tweaks on already very popular heroes.

The problem is it shows how blind blizzard is to the problem. Instead of fixing rez, the reason she is a must pick still, they ignore all feedback and nerf something nobody was complaining about.

It’s not the 10hps that make people upset. It’s blizzard decision that chose another direct nerf that doesn’t address the core problem while the character has already been heavily nerfed.
What makes people ticked off is this wrong nerf will not solve the problem and will make them put her on another nerf again.

How do we know it’s the wrong nerf? Have we already put many hours into the new mercy?

I get that maybe it wasn’t the right thing to do, but there’s no way of knowing right now.

People want GA cooldown increased, Valk’s duration reduced, her passive regen to go back to 3 seconds to kick in, and damage boost is getting nerfed :man_shrugging:

it won’t help when the core problem is res on cooldown as an ability.

Of course Mercy won’t be useless! WE ARE SAYING THAT! Mercy will still be MANDATORY and a must-pick. Even if she is nerfed to 40hp/s she will still be mandatory and all it will do is encourage us to use Lucio + Mercy + Zenyatta compositions or something similar.

It is going to blow up in the worst way possible, as this community has made QUITE CLEAR they don’t want triple support meta and at this rate that is exactly where we are headed!

All that the nerf to hp/s and flying time and all of these other nerfs do is make her less and less fun to play. More and more of a slog to play and change NOTHING about how every team MUST pick her.

Until there is a torbjorn armor like mechanic inserted into the game where revive has to be earned again (similar to an ult, rofl) she will be a mandatory must pick.

Heck! At this point a complete new player new to this entire game can get the same effectiveness from Mercy’s revive as a veteran diamond Mercy from release.

THAT IN AND OF ITSELF (the last sentence) should be DRAMATICALLY TELLING.

How do we know that rez is the core problem to mercy’s kit? I mean, she outheals every support with zero aim requirements. Lowering the healing rate of an auto lock beam makes sense.

Most people are upset because these aren’t fixing actual problems. Like how many loot boxes do we have to buy so it doesn’t feel like that Blizzard is making balance desicions during lunch break?

You’re right it won’t make her useless, quite the opposite it’s not going to address the problem, just gimping the fun parts of her kit because blizz are too prideful to admit that the problem with Mercy right now is at the core of their “successful” rework

Mercy 60hps already there since she was F-tier before invulnerability. And the rework just barely came and made her OP. So logically, which one should be touched?

Blizz: surely the heal per second!!

We’re “upset” because this nerf changes nothing, and Mercy will still be a must-pick because Rez is on a cooldown. And maybe, just maybe, we’re starting to get REALLY TIRED of being ignored.

Resurrect on a static cooldown is TOO POWERFUL. Mercy will ALWAYS be a must-pick as long as this is a thing.

We know it’s the problem beause even though she has 2 new ompetitors her pickrate right now is higher then it was in the day’s of 1.0
And since rez and Valk are the only things to change since those days.

Yup!

There is an unprofessional amount of ego and stubbornness attached to this. This demonstrates almost a childish determination to keep things how they are. In any other industry this would have been reverted very quickly.

It’s been a year, it’s been a consistent failure requiring 10 nerfs and has still been left a must pick. This is a complete failure that should have been reverted months ago.

The fact we even now have a discriminatory dumpster thread they are putting Mercy threads into should be fact enough on it’s own.

It’s childish and unprofessional at this point.

In my experience, mercy’s autolock beam has been more impact to winning games than rez. She can clutch heal in a split second with almost no effort.

But we’ll see. You could definitely be right!

As far as Mercy goes, no the nerf won’t make her useless, and anyone who thinks so is dead wrong. But the thing is, that’s sort of the problem. She’ll still be a top tier pick because Res, as it is, will always be valuable enough to keep her up there.
Nerfing her healing just means Blizzard is trying to solve a problem by just hiding it behind other problems, which is a horrible philosophy to go by.

As far as Widow goes, I agree the nerf is completely fine. Her hook was 12 seconds, which was too long, and now it’s 8 which is too short. 10 is a decent middle ground.

But does rez account for the fact that she outheals every support by a long shot?

What changed since the rework, that’s still in place today, since the rework went live?

  • Valkyrie, her new and laughable ultimate ability
    – When the upcoming nerf goes live it won’t be able to even outheal Winston’s weapon damage
    – It will take longer to have Valkyrie ready
    – It has the potential impact equivalent to a slightly better standard ability but also lasts too long
  • Resurrect, originally her ultimate ability but now her standard ability
    – It has the potential impact equivalent to a mini ultimate ability
    – It’s freely given every 30 seconds, you don’t have to earn it

Resurrect is a glaring problem with her kit and she’ll remain a must pick or highly popular choice until this is either earnable or put back into her ultimate ability slot. Valkyrie on the other hand is weak to be truly considered a good ultimate ability, it’s great for escaping a fight, watching your team or the match, and perhaps a bit of Battle Mercy, but it’s fairly pathetic for trying to keep your team alive if the enemy team has good damage dealers. Yeah I know there’s damage boost and flying but meh.

The 60 HP/sec to 50 HP/sec nerf isn’t the right way to go about it and also demonstrates they haven’t read a single bit of feedback in the megathreads over the last year or so.

Those people aren’t “upset” because it makes her worse, they are upset because these nerfs are irrelevant in terms of her pickrate / “top healer” problem.

People will still pick her, she will still be the top healer, and her rez will still be an E move instead of where it needs to be - an Ult. Because of that (and no impactful revert for rez), she will continue to dominate the meta, At least in my opinion.
