It's called "PROJECTILE"

The season 9 global buff to “projectile” sizes needs to be completely reverted for hit scan heroes and there’s no if ands or buts to it. Hit scan is already the most consistent form of dps and by extension doesn’t need a buff to consistency. Especially in the form of a hero that is capable of one shotting somebody across the map (Widowmaker). There’s absolutely no way I can consider this game being even remotely competitive as long as this remains to be the case. Considering that this hero that can one shot across the map can literally miss the shot and still have it count. In all honesty, I don’t see why the most consistent form of dps in the game needed to have an increase to said consistency. This goes for soldier, ash, cassidy and even tracer… Being real, wasn’t the mid season patch supposed to address this blatant issue? Yet I can still feel the glaring problems of said issue afterwards and go to check in the training range that yes, you can still miss by quite a noticable amount and STILL get the shot to connect. This makes sense in terms of heroes that actually have projectiles as there is a level of inconsistency to them. Which will bring them in like with the dps that already have top notch consistency. But for the heroes that are already wildly consistent, all it does it make it oppressive to play against them. They have a widow?.. Good luck turning the corner because they can miss and still one shot you and the only counter is to match their widow with widow or go sombra and pray that they don’t have both supports hand holding them. Same can be said about all other hit scans outside of tracer because they have the luxury of sitting in the back and generating constant value with no risk. Only making this post to bring light to the fact that this is the EXACT OPPOSITE of competitive and needs to be fixed ASAP. Though I whole heartedly expect it to not be changed in a reasonable amount of time…

I’d be fine with reverting the whole thing if the heroes in OW had more realistic inertia. But apparently every hero in the game does P90X eight days a week, so the hitbox changes need to stay.

Waiting for someone to correctly at that hitscan is a projectile too. Just with no travel time.

And let’s not pretend like the DPS passive wasn’t a pacifier for all crying DPS players and streamers who moaned so hard about supports being too strong when they were only ever been that strong in higher ranks coz high ranked players are the only ones who know how to time the important CDs like suzu, bio nade, immo field etc.

From my perspective, the game been pulled around and twisted by the whims of streamers and rookie Devs. For no reason.

I kinda preferred the game when it was left to die, at least then there was no air of elitism in it in the form of a leaver penalty for unranked games. Yeah this dev team is driving the game in the WRONG direction.

Why ignore the point of the post? Hit scan is consistent due to the fact that their “projectile” hits their target the moment they shoot. So why give them the ability to miss their shot and still have it count? Rewarding people for bad play is not competitive and that is the entire point of this post.

Tough luck for team 4. Getting 0% bonus coz They price the shop items ludicrously, balance the game like trash, cancel pve, and expect Thier players to take unranked games seriously with leaver penalties after most players got used to the game being dead and left alone.

They can explain changes all they like, we have every right to disagree and offer our opinion on the “service” we’re being provided. That’s what the forums are for.

Someone got baited by a bad article lol. The bonus was relegated solely to the performance of pve. PvP is doing alright. Skins sell in mad numbers.

But if you don’t like the game, why you still worried about it. Just play other things.

I am fine with that, assuming all of the increases get reverted, and health too. But also they did clarify which types of projectiles got which changes. And projectile heroes generally got bigger increases, and already had bigger hitboxes to make up for the travel time and lower consistency they have.

  • +0.05 meters for hitscan projectiles with a high rate of fire or spread (e.g., Tracer’s Pulse Pistols or Reaper’s Hellfire Shotguns).
  • +0.08 meters for hitscan projectiles that are more precise (e.g., Cassidy’s Peacekeeper or Soldier:76’s Heavy Pulse Rifle).
  • +0.05 meters for travel time projectiles that are shotguns or have a very high rate of fire (e.g., Roadhog’s Scrap Gun or Ramattra’s Void Accelerator).
  • +0.10 meters for travel time projectile with a speed greater than 50 meters per second (e.g., Zenyatta’s Destruction Orb).
  • +0.15 meters for travel time projectile with a speed less than or equal to 50 meters per second (e.g., Pharah’s Rocket Launcher).
  • Very large projectiles with a base size greater than 0.5 meters have been excluded from these increases (e.g., Orisa’s Energy Javelin or Reinhardt’s Fire Strike).

Playing semantics around terms that people use doesn’t really matter for balance.

A-D crouch spam your consistency consistently.

It’s always funny when people read ONE article, which says their source is “someone who wants to remain anonymous,” and spread that information as truth, lol.

I play on console, the only A-D spam we have are people playing on mouse and keyboard WITH aim assist(basically 50% of aim bot that is provided for controller players because of how difficult it is to use controller vs MnK). MnK on console is our form of cheating and it now feels like full blown cheating (as in they DO NOT miss anymore). Wouldn’t be too big of an issue if me reporting them actually got them banned, but it doesn’t. So instead I’d like it so that they actually have to hit their shot and not just get a hit on their near misses. But what will anybody on the forums care?.. Just the usual from people now a days… Not my problem so I don’t care.

Hottake: For me the Hitboxsize increase on Widow was kinda a nerf, atleast it feels like it.
Yes I hit more shots but interestingly my headshot rate seems less. Especally on Heros with protruding hitboxes like Tarcer or Kiriko.

getting hs by widow is simply failing the skill check the hero puts on the field. similar to moira, widow is just a skill check.

Look up “movement acceleration” and “overwatch.” Hitscans had inconsistency because of the lack of movement acceleration.

This is why CS pros looked like they’ve never used a mouse before when trying to play heroes like Widow.
