It is no longer Overwatch, it is Underwatch

Overwatch is now underwhelming. It has created a toxic environment within chat where everyone is blaming everyone, and the people to blame is the Overwatch team. Yes, each and every employee but most importantly the leadership team. They have literally destroyed the game.

They are so stuck on 5v5, that they do not see the tanks are going to leave the game and essentially kill this game. There are more competitors out there for OW that are currently in production or close to release.

Now before you say, “But 5v5 has lower queue times.” THAT IS NOT FIXED BY 5V5" There has been more character variety in the tank and support role. What made tanking fun was you didn’t have to handle the heavy load of creating space, your tank partner was there to take the pressure off. The only way to make tank work in 5v5 is to take all burst and stun damage capabilities out of the game. Remove several tanks that are direct counters to other tanks out of the game. Essentially, killing the characters.

Heck, even dps is boring as no other. Several characters have become obsolete, and nothing has been done to address it. Rather than admit the problem is the format, they are buffing to the point of OP, or nerfing into the point of useless. Supports have so much utility that people prefer to play that(hence the longer queue times).

Queue times will naturally lower with more variety of characters introduced into certain roles, especially tank and support. It’s triggers dps to try out a role they may not have preferred and they transition into playing it. However, the stress and horrid experience of tank is not appealing to anyone. having someone to play off of, take some of the pressure and damage off of you is ideal. Every game I have seen, I have watched people be downright toxic in chat to their own team and the enemy team. Mad that someone made a switch because that is what is needed to win is to play counter, but it’s so unbalanced that people feel it’s “cheesing”. Or someone is not performing up to par. Heck, even I have started getting frustrated… and not because I think a fellow player is underperforming but because the experience is horrible that the frustration is directed towards a role/player.

I don’t put down players and still haven’t but I sat there and realized… OMG, Overwatch has cultivated a hateful environment because they have LITERALLY made a great game(that had minor issues that could have been fixed with balance) into a toxic game that has no real path to balance.

I know the hardline 5v5 will say, “Well, 5v5 can be balanced” YES, but it essentially means changing the game as a whole. Changing multiple characters, pretty much gutting the identity of characters people love and will ruin the game for most. They will literally have to remove the uniqueness of each characters that we either enjoy or love to hate.

That is the problem. This my view. Comment and judge away.

Agree that they are driving the game into the ground.

The sad fact is they could have left the competition for dust, but instead went with HARD failure.

Fact: most of the core pillars of Blizzard left a long time ago. The ones who PROVED they could deliver top tier games. Who in their right mind would join Blizzard in the state it’s in?

Truth is next-gen devs have ZERO interest in uber-corporations, none. What talent is left has probably had enough and given up.

Tbh its more like Cheaterwatch.

Defence matrix is on permanent holidays.

Only now?

Overwatch 2 destroyed the game permanently.
The second Jeff Kaplan left, everyone should have realised it was going to be a failure.

Instead, there are still people here who pretend this abomination is a good game.

To be honest, when 5v5 was announced i was talking that 5v5 along with f2p will skyrocket toxicity but it was ignored because q-times were more important then environment.

Heee
People (myself included) were cheering when Ghostcrawler left yet somehow everything went even worse
Don’t have hope on BLZ. They will never be disappointing on disappointing

As someone who tests software, has tested games, knows development process, and have worked through some tough deadlines. The problem was the approach from leadership, and it trickled down. The dev teams should have said no, that is where I blame them. They do not understand the game, they don’t understand the complexity of a format change. When they changed from 6v6 to 5v5, they would need to literally rework every character into being the same as each other, essentially no tank/dps/supports… the reason being it would not be functionally viable in a 5v5 to have heavy role abilities on top of a shooter(which requires skill). They have already attempted the hit box changes which dumbs down the skill level.

It’s appears to be that they do not know where to balance the shooter with the MOBA capabilities. They are trying to hard to go towards the MOBA in OW2, but the problem is you can’t do that with a shooter game in a 5v5… it just is not viable something always become OP unless you literally go full shooter… which is not OW. The reason 6v6 worked, is yes sometime tanks got burst… but it was balanced between 2 people rather than one role having a single person hold the heavy load of controlling space, which means either they become unkillable or destroyed. A second tank helps balance the damage output and peels not to mention it required more… strategy than 5v5. It made it fun facilitated teamwork, it forced 2 tanks to work together(yes it didn’t happen all the time but when it did, omg was it fun) it forced dps to play off each other, supports to play off each other… and then all 3 roles became a cohesive unit. There was time, when we lost we still had fun. We knew the other team was better. Yes there was toxic outliers, but now… tank is so much more easier to blame, supports so much easier to blame, dps so much easier to blame. Stats matter now… because it’s tdm… rather than strat which was an integral part of 6v6.

Man I miss that, where we would come up of cheeky ways to avoid bad fights, now it’s “BAM YOU DEAD” when you peek a corner. lol

comparatively whats on the market for positional arena 1st person shooters, there isn’t much other choices that seem to have the level of Detail that overwatch has.

would be a different beast if everyone on the forums floods threads with how much they enjoy different games. Most people, me included dismiss littleraly any other similar game as less worthy of playing after trying it.

If I wanna play a pvp shooter in the style of overwatch, well I play overwatch. (ofc some prefer paladins but there are imho not enough other similar games to say “for that feeling, this other game is better” for all aspects we play ow for.) Hope that last sentence is somewhat understandable.

This isn’t Overwatch, It’s Overlooked.

The state of this game is terrible. It’s so dystopian that you play and see how terrible it is, then go view any social media/press about it and find they’re celebrating 100 million players. It’s the most hollow victory ever and it makes me mad. This game doesn’t deserve to celebrate while its been in the state it has for this long.

I remind you that all the other games that meet what you describe were released more than 11 years ago, it is obvious that they are not updated, but dismissing them as less worthy just because they are old games seems absurd to me, especially since Overwatch constantly takes a lot of content from those games.

there are more than enough of them, they just aren’t that popular because most of them don’t have a massive marketing campaign like overwatch, nor the backing of companies like tencent, which has been in charge of banning or sabotaging almost all similar games that came to asia for years. but if you still insist that there aren’t enough games it’s just a matter of knowing how to search, this type of games used to be called class-based shooter (but thanks to overwatch’s misleading advertising campaign that renamed the genre to pretend they had invented something completely new, now people call them hero shooter), you can easily find lists of games like 50 similar games, like this one

I think I saw a long time ago an “UnderClock” Roblox game or whatever.
