I keep hearing how Overwatch is better than Marvel Rivals and will kill the other as well as vice versa, yet the best outcome for both games is if they can coexist.
Marvel Rivals is good for Overwatch as it brings competition. Yet Overwatch is also good for Marvel Rivals as it provides players with a jumping point for hero shooters. Many players who look for their mains in Marvel Rivals choose it by which hero is most like their favorite Overwatch hero.
However both games coexisting means we can have two great Hero Shooters, whereas one game dying would mean the other will take its crown and bear the risk of not innovating. Plus both games trying to surpass each other would be great overall.
I like Overwatch and Marvel Rivals but both games need competition.
Coexist? As in be competitors? Yes, obviously. Competition is always good for the customer. If one dies, then the other is less incentivized to create a better product to compete with the market.
And I enjoy both games (Overwatch less so right now) so it works perfectly for me.
Rivals isnât going to kill Overwatch like Overwatch isnât going to kill Rivals. Itâs themselves that will kill themselves. Blizzard sucks and definitely seeing Netease pulling a dumb move at some point
i think so since paladins and overwatch co-existed. now we have 3 in a hero shooter space?
it also depends on the studio, can they stand being no.2? and not shut the game down. or make it become the next heroes of the storm⌠maintenance mode
I do not believe Overwatch is good for Mahvel. Lots of dedicated players that will refuse to leave the game. So many of our regular haters refuse to even try Mahvel. That is just my opinion. Itâs a hype wave that will change nothing.
Iâm more hyped for it than rivals and normal rq 6v6 .
I think Iâm being nostalgiccc or whatever people may say lol but Iâm loving revisiting these versions hopefully they make use of the proper moth peak balance state.
I do not want to see a single match without mercy letâs go if widow can have that launch mercy certainly needs it.
Ofcourse I will ask for a ban on brig for goats meta atleast for one week i really think goats time balance would actually be good if brig was still in school and not trying to be rein
I think initially which is what makes a rather unhealthy rivalry in the beginning if ow actually collabs with them and gives them a leg up and work together, rivals will get a good reward in short term while overwatch will have a healthy one in long-term getting unlimited use on marvels licence, not basic collabs but actual ones were they work together for atleast three or four years before they smash the thor statue they will build in Irene.
Let marvels do the heavy lifting on the lore side were they make a parallel universe were avengers and overwatch team up against Thanos for a glorious fight and a few heroes from each side become playable on both games and skin collabs for the rest, it will sell like hotcakes.
They need to not think like Harry Potter vs voldemort but more like
Goku and vegeta were their rivalry fuels each other while the short moments they join together is pure awesomeness
It can be worked out it will be like nano boost on everything and rivals and overwatch together will be like vegito vs fortnite and althose br plebs and gaccha games taking the breathing room of heroshooters and both can re-establish hero shooter genre like the Saiyan race.
As good as rivals launch has been itâs nowhere near ow currently nor does it have a security of retaining that launch.
This will let both side work not in fear of loss but rather greedy for growth which is always healthy.
Obviously the actual board room discussion will have both sides trying to score small points overeach other cunningly especially netease extremely tough but thatâs were we can use father Christmas Jared neuss to help squeeze a healthy deal for both sides instead of telling fomo is good on Christmas
The chances are less than optimal especially given we donât know the specifics of why netease agreement broke of initially to the point of them break statues and making their own game , but given they have re-established that contract should be able to blame anything on Bobby and get this done , cause the possibilities together are way huge for either side to ignore and also in long-term while MCU is strong now on the back of a good decade in theatres they have been dud otherwise and in a decline getting in a game universe as reach as blizzard to make new stuff would be a good kick start for them too especially seeing how well secret level is doing with nostalgic gamers this is a gold or diamond mine if they can dig in through the initial rough phases of making it happen.
Also I hope the universe takes more of these forum yappings and passes the vibe along to make it manifest.
Killing rq will be like killing that thanos first time , it will feel empty and unrewarding at first after you swing the axe in range and see the sadness in the face of some of your team who like it despite its many faults and we will be even more angry but itâs a necessity to be able to snap things back and make it right.
I mean, they are going to coexist regardless of what people on the forums say.
And that will be the reality until one of them shuts down. Given that Blizzard has never shut down the servers of any of their games (to the point where you can still play Warcraft 2 online, and that was possible before the remaster), my money is on Marvel Rivals being the game to ultimately shut down first, but I donât expect it to happen soon unless Netease jumps the shark.
So theyâll coexist for a long time, just like every other hero shooter thatâs currently active coexists with Overwatch.
Ehh, even I am not going to say that Marvel Rivals isnât worse than Overwatch in every way.
Off the top of my head here are things that Rivals does better:
Rewarding team play and cohesion: Rivals is far better than Overwatch in this regard, especially with team-up abilities.
Destructible terrain (other than doodads and railings): This is a massive game changer. You canât hide behind cover if that cover doesnât exist. Sniper keeps peeking out from behind cover to loose a sneaky arrow or sniper shot? Destroy the cover they hide behind and that problem is gone.
Third person PoV: This is a big deal as well. Which is not to say I prefer it, I donât, I much prefer first person gameplay myself, but from a visual perspective, especially with regards to cosmetics, Rivals has the one up here. Skins you purchase are things you will actually see while youâre actively playing, rather than just seeing it at character select, during death replays and at the end of the game during post-game scenes.
Now for some players, these three things are going to make Rivals the superior game for them, and if thatâs the case, so be it. Can Overwatch adopt any of them? No, unfortunately not. So these are things that Rivals will always have, while Overwatch wonât, and thatâs fine.
Wait, I think I have seen this copy pasta somewhere ⌠but where âŚ
2 of those things that Marvel Rivals does better you listed are one of the biggest game flaws - Ironic I find that. Want to guess which ones? I will give you a reward if you guess right.
Considering I typed it up completely by myself, word for word, no, you havenât seen this âcopypastaâ anywhere.
And no, I am not going to play a game where youâre being dishonest and not debating in good faith. Youâve already taken the clear position that nothing Rivals does is better than Overwatch, that it is âPaladins 2.0â, and hey, if thatâs your genuine opinion, thatâs fine. Be correct, no one can tell you that your opinion about Overwatch 2 being better is wrong.
I donât even play Rivals and I am disagreeing with you though, so keep that in mind.
