projectile heroes against hitscan? a bit unfavourable but nothing that you can’t pull off
there are many good projectile heroes and they are all playable into hitscan. you don’t have to autoswap your projectile pick because it’s unwinnable and unplayable
pharah and echo against projectile heroes? goodnight. you land a lucky headshot on them as hanzo? they live with 10hp. you land a mine combo on them as junkrat? they live with 5hp. you blade into the sky and slash them twice as genji? they live with 30 health.
the only projectile heroes that can consistently deal with pharah and echo are … pharah and echo
I was thinking this the other day. I sometimes like playing Pharah, but it really sucks when she’s dominant—most projectile heroes just can’t cope with it. She can shut out a lot of the cast. I still think every hero deserves their time in the sun but dang
Mm, it’s tough bc I get that too. I certainly feel that way about Widow. Either way, Pharah has had her time. Now they can reevaluate her kit… though I kind of don’t think there’s a way for them to negotiate her kit in its current state to make it fair for projectile heroes and not unviable.
Then she should be hard reworked to address that or be thrown into F/D tier and left there forever. The design she currently has should be nowhere near viable ever.
But they break the most common physics rule of OW, which is gravity.
Aiming at flying heroes adds a whole other dimension to the aiming process, literally.
The problem with Pharah is that she is way overtuned.
She has both high mobilty and high (and forgiving) burst damage.
She should only have one at a time.
If you remove all Pharah mobility, including her fly, she would still be a better Junkrat. That’s how broken she currently is.
The devs need to decide to either keep the mobility or the high damage. Having both is very problematic.
Yea said this for years, flyers are not a good concept for the game, same goes for one shot sniper characters and shotgun characters with a potential one shot close range.
After all this is not valorant or cs.
she is most likely getting nerfed in the mid season patch but this post isn’t even about their balance, just their overall design
in general they just necessitate hero picks like nothing else in this game. hog and mauga come close somewhat but it’s not a necessity. pharah even at her weakest still destroys all projectile heroes because it’s her design that enables it.
because she is a terrible hero design. how i said. pharah and especially pharahemercy, are a strategy where you can easy win a point just picking pharhamercy, rushing/killing the enemy hitscans and now you are free to kill the enemy team with no any problem.
also is really stupid how counter phahramercy need a lot more skills than just play pharhamercy.
It’s not like it’s necessarily more difficult to hit a flying target with a projectile than a grounded one- the problem has always been height and the awkwardness of her jetpack bobbing her around making her movement speed and trajectory feel random and unpredictable.
If they just reworked her flight as a proper, consistent hover, she’d be a lot more manageable, even if she had infinite fuel.
This is something a lot of people aren’t really grasping.
Her primary is twice as fast as Junkrats.
It fires in a perfectly straight line whereas Junks has a heavy arc.
Junk is range capped but Pharah is not.
She has a larger clip.
She has the same projectile size despite it being far easier to aim.
She gets immediate explosions on impact so is guaranteed damage on a miss whereas Junk is not.
She has far better mobility.
Despite this they have almost identical rates of fire and reload speed.
She’s Junkrat with a significantly more consistent weapon who can stay in the air after using mines for a jump. With an extra 2 mobility options and a comparable ult.
At least with Pharah and Echo you have a reasonable selection of counters - most medium to long range hitscans. But with Hog and Mauga it’s Ana every single game. Not just a pain if supports don’t want to play Ana, but for Hog and Mauga players it’s the most tedious thing possible having to play into Ana every single game.
Thats why missiles are more effective than aircraft cannons. Hitscan flyers its like widowmaker that always jumps , rare person who can land a good shot . Overwatch lite (also called Overwatch 2) is noobs/casual friendly, so such hero will never happen
