two issues I have found
This was a fun adventure.
TLDR: use user:ƕlĸ-2818
instead of @ƕlĸ-2818
The search interface uses @ when searching for posts by a specific user, however if we look at the source code for Discource (the thing that powers this forum) we can see that the @ only accepts latin characters and numbers and if you want to search for a user with “fancy” characters you’d have to use user:
as it accepts any character.
Awesome, testing it now
ok, the user: thing works.
danke danke danke
Now I just need to know why i cant search for some players at all
I tried searching for posts by Shxx-21136
and I can see them just fine. Do you not get any results at all or incorrect ones?
If I type shxx into the search for posts by name, it doesnt resolve into possible full names. If one types in other partial names - like megad - there will be a dropdown list of possible matches, such as me
Also, thanks for checking into this, it is greatly appreciated
Can’t really figure out what’s wrong with the username auto fill, however as a workaround you could use the player search: Overwatch 2 - Player Search
Thank you for trying.
Hopefully the forum dev will take a look and see why some names rings don’t produce results
Since this forum is only for troubleshooting the Overwatch game client, they won’t see it here. Use this forum instead:
Nicole:
Thanks for pointing me there but when i click login, i get a 404 error
Does the same issue happen on another browser? If not, it may help to clear the cache and cookies on the browser.
First, thanks for responding Caterpepi
I’ve tried it in 3 different browsers - Firefox, Chrome, and IE - same absence of results
I expect you will get the same results - no dropdown of suggested forum member ids - if you type in shxx
Thanks for trying that out! The 404 error usually means the page doesn’t exist or its forbidden, but this shouldn’t be happening with the support site forums. Something could be blocking the connection or webpage. Does this happen on an alternative connection? Any issues you if you try logging in on this page? If that page works, it should be logged into the support site section as well.
Do you want me to try to move this conversation over there?
If we can discuss the problem here in this thread, no need to get set up on that other forum…
Can’t move the threads between entire forums, only between categories on the current forum.
I think Caterpepi is just trying to give you tips to login over there, but you’d still want to make the thread in the Support Site Feedback forum.
still hoping to discuss this issue
Megadodo,
Are you still having problems posting on the other forum? Once again we can’t discuss bugs or suggestions for the forums themselves, but we may be able to help with your login issues still.
Yeah, I dont seem to be to login over there
Okay, I think we may have had a communication breakdown earlier. Rereading this, It looks like you may have thought we were asking if the search function was working on other browsers, but we were trying to troubleshoot your login issue. Just to be clear - are you unable to log in to the forums below on different browsers? How about after clearing your cache/cookies? Finally, make sure if you’re using any browsing addons that you temporarily disable them.
