She decent at best with ball, dva or winston, but there are better options.

Master zarya Main here. In my experience she is insanely strong with rein, decent with Winston and roadhog, bad with dva and ball and absolutely horrible with orisa and sigma.

Zarya hog? I get the high dmg strat, but they are REALLY lack of defense or mobility pressure.
In terms of high tier she’s not good with Ball, D.va or Winston. You can play her with Rein (obviously), Hog or Sigma when you have other heroes like Doomfist that you can use for energy farming. Sigma/Doomfist/Brig is a very good comp to play Zarya into because you have farm targets and a barrier. Zarya/Hog is actually good against double barriers and the good side of it is that your Hog can’t be countered by Ana effectively when you keep bubbling him with the downside being that Hog can no longer flank. You need heroes who like to go into melee range or take a lot of focus fire to get your energy up and your opponents also need to play heroes that allow you to farm that energy effectively
If you’re on lower tiers and get a smurf Doomfist on your team then I’d say going Zarya is definitely worth it because he will force the opponents to shoot the bubble down or he will always end up getting picks with it. This is guaranteed energy farm for you and Grav+Meteor Strike is a combo that chews through Trans on squishies

Zarya is strong with Rein. Very strong.
But mediocre when paired with anyone else.
Rein has been paired with multiple tanks across metas. Hog, Dva, Zarya and currently, Sigma even… But yeah let’s nerf Zarya now Rein is meta, again.

Honestly I have run over some teams incredibly hard running zarya hog, it’s like we have a 4 DPS comp. I enable the hogs stupid flanks, i get charge, i shred, win win.
Anyway Zarya is on her way out of the meta, she will be trash tier in a few weeks when rein doubleshield and sigma orisa double shield trickles down to all ranks.

As long as you are playing against a rein zarya team that don’t has a Lucio you are winning before they can push into you. You can also beat double shield with it becouse of the insane shield break.
If you play against a team with a good Lucio, rein and zarya (but even in masters that’s very rare) you will likely loose. The hog/zarya comp is weak against hanzo and widow (becouse you don’t have a shield) but they aren’t played that much right now.

She is great even without Rein if bubbles are used correctly
She used to be decent with Sigma, when he used to be a main tank ofc.
Funny thing is, Sigma is taking her place to work with rein
I find that halirious since zarya basically needs rein to work. But no, rein goes off with sigma for another double shield meta

She’s okay with Sigma but less good with others. I’ve seen her do okay with Hamster but I’ve also seen them be useless, depended most I think on Hamster.
I personally hate to play her with sigma becouse he denies you so much charge. Everytime hanzo spams his storm arrows or soldier uses his helix sigma shields himself or me and I used my bubble for nothing.
Yeah, it’s kinda funny how she pairs better with hog than the maintanks other than Rein.
she’s good with dive DPS as well, it’s not like your bubble is a utility that only works with the tank.
it’s not like you are expected to bubble only the main tank if he initiates an attack.
yes Rein/Zarya are just made for each other, but it’s not like Genji, Tracer, Doomfist or even McCree aren’t viable bubble targets.
