So recently it has come to my attention that quite a lot of people are wanting more lbgt+ representation in Overwatch. We have known Tracer is gay for quite sometime now, and we all know that blizzard has confirmed more lbgt+ characters are already in the game. However what I’ve recently been thinking is, “who’s the trans character/s?”
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Moira and Zarya, obviously.” Well let me stop you there.
From what I’ve gathered, if anything Moira is just androgynous, not trans, and Zarya is just Muscular. Not to mention these would be the ‘obvious choices’, (and blizzard won’t make the ‘obvious choice’ with a potential trans character.)
Personally, I feel that one of the preexisting characters is indeed trans, and I think Blizzard have done their best to not make it painfully obvious who it is. And my guess for who it is is Widowmaker.
Now hear me out, I know that may sound crazy, but hear me out.
From what we know so far about Widow’s story, one of her main plot points is that she is being controlled against her will to be something she isn’t, and what if that was the case earlier in life as well? That could even give her hope for breaking from Talon’s control, like how she did with people possibly subduing her gender. If you ask me, that’s an interesting story, and could make parallels between the past and present.
Not only this, but she is also one of the tallest female hero’s and her height could have significance, (kinda a stretch with the height). Also from what I’ve gathered from images of her concept art, her index finger is smaller than her ring finger. This is a genetic trait between people who are born male.
Not to mention you wouldn’t expect her to be the trans hero, because she ‘doesn’t look trans.’ This factor could help push away the stereotype that trans people are just men in dresses or women with short hair cough cough Zarya and Moira cough cough
So that’s all I got, I’d appreciate if you could comment your opinions on my theory! (But keep it civilized, thanks!)
And, PLEASE fell free to voice your theories on why you may or may not agree!
