Is using Angle Snapping considered cheating?

Hi, I use a g502 that can use Angle Snapping. Angle Snapping will artificially guide your mouse in a straight line if it thinks that you are trying to do so, removing human imperfections. Is this considered cheating?

I can’t imagine playing with that. But I guess it’s really in what your used to.

I don’t think it’s cheating, but blizz makes that call.

Yes. It’s considered modification to improve gameplay to provide an advantage

That seems like hell to play with anyway…

I say it is cheating, without it you may not have even got the shot you may get with it. Gives you an advantage of a better steady hand with an outside-tool IMO.

any third party program that gives you an advantage over other players is cheating

That sounds like it would be cheating, keep doing it, annoy as many of those losers as possible

I would say no. I mean seriously I can’t see how having your mouse forced into one angle at any time is good for FPS game play

You need to be able to adjust quickly in any direction I think having something like that enabled would do WAY more harm than good

I can’t imagine playing with that, but I believe that it’s considered cheating.

Yes, if it isn’t using the ingame programing then it is cheating. I think the only thing allowed are streamer overlays.

yes this would be considered cheating and you shouldnt use it

It would be cheating, but also why would you use it anyway? Is aiming going in a straight line? Is it an array of angles? Omnidirection? If you’re aiming at a Pharah or someone on lower ground, wouldn’t it hurt your ability to track (straightening out curves)?

It’s considered cheating by the rules, but it doesn’t help you aim either.

Technically: Yes, it would fall under the definition of cheating according to the game
In reality: No, since it’ll likely make your aim worse

Is it so clearly a cheat as so many people are implying? I don’t think so. I don’t see how hardware drivers interpreting your input as discrete directions is any different than hardware drivers interpreting your input at different speeds (DPI).

Ryujehong (as just one example) uses a DPI-shift button on his mouse to adjust the sensitivity on the fly. That’s not something the game supports internally. Is that cheating? I have a mouse that does exactly that even though I personally don’t use the feature at the moment.

I don’t think there’s a difference between what the OP is describing and playing with a controller that has an octagonal opening for the physical control stick instead of a round one.

I don’t view anything that evens the playing field between people with disabilities, like hand tremors, and those without to be cheating. All it does is give you an even matchup against someone with more steady hands.

It’s possible that it violates the letter of Blizzard’s ToS, but it’s discriminatory if they punish people for using it.

It doesn’t provide an advantage, it actually makes your aim way worse.

I can see that, but any program modifications are not allowed

Wonder how this guy got to top500 ^ :D:D:D
