Hello world, my name is nate
Been playing ow since 2016 played tracer mostly my entire career, peaked at 4298 in season 13 after that just been chillin on QP
Ow2 has come aiming feels allot different (and not in a good way, feels like hit detect is off) and I’m not crying that she can’t one clip anymore that’s ok, but dueling just isn’t the same when most characters got buffed while tracer got the damage nerf, what was it 17%? On top of many things being able to kill you in an instant.
Any other tracer mains experiencing this? Or do I just need to get back to practicing and shift into a new gear? (Git gud)

No she is just weak when they aren’t blind/deaf and pay attention to her… same with sombra…

No I totally get you.
I was 3300 before OW2 launched (And it has placed me in plat 4 lol), and yeah, tracer feels bleh right now. I have 450 hours on tracer and she’s my most played hero, but that damage nerf hit HARD. There’s now pretty much no reason to play her over most of the other DPS, since she’s far too hard to get value out of for how perfect you need to play.
The problem isn’t even really directly the loss in damage - it’s the loss in pressure too. You absolutely do not feel like a threat anymore, so people aren’t afraid to dual you. And if both supports are peeling for each other, you might as well run away cause you’re not gonna be able to do anything.
Like I’d rather just play genji, cause he does exactly what she does, but 100x better. As someone who has genji as his second most played, it’s baffling that they nerfed tracer’s damage and not his.
Tracer is still decent but very situational now. Not only that she feels worse to play. I just feel like I’m shooting peas at the enemy while they’re shooting trucks.

Yeah
feels bad man, I’ve been reading through the forum it looks like others are having comp issues as well so idk, maybe it just time to chill in QP and wait for some stuff to get cleaned up, or I’ll just have to shelve tracer for now. Rip
Genji/Ashe/sombra here I come
Comp is nuts right now. I’ve been having such a massive range of ranks in my games. My placements were relatively Ok. A few rolls but mostly just close matches. After I got placed, games have just become insanely hard. Full of masters players when I’m absolutely not a masters player. But trust me to get the one feeding teammate who died 22 times in a single game. I thought those 20 losses would be hard to hit - now I’m thinking they’re not lol.
Plus it seems many players just aren’t progressing - winning 7 games and staying the same rank. The one thing I was hoping for in OW2 was for the rank system to be more concrete on how you gain SR - but it’s the complete opposite. In OW1 you could win against a higher ranked team and gain like 13 SR, but lose against a higher ranked team and lose 25 SR. It made no sense. And tbh, it makes less sense here cause you can’t even see your SR number anymore, or how close you might be to the next division up.
Nah you’re just used to her being overtuned in ow1.
She’s strong now but not the best hero in the game anymore.
Calling her weak is just wrong.
She definitely wasn’t over tuned in OW1. Guess maybe you just didn’t play her enough to know that. At the majority of ranks (Bronze-Diamond), most other hitscans were objectively better picks. Heroes like cassidy, ashe, soldier etc were far easier to get value out of than tracer. Tracer as a character only just started to get 50% winrates at around diamond.
She’s certainly not bad in OW2, but she doesn’t feel very good, and most other DPS heroes are a better pick unless you’re absolutely nuts at tracer. Her 1v1 potential has dropped considerably, and heck, I now find it easier to 1v1 supports on sojourn than I do tracer, and I have a mere 7 hours on sojourn, in comparison to my 450 on tracer. Granted the aim is a transferrable skill, but it does show me that sojourn is just an objectively better pick.
So no, tracer isn’t “weak”. She’s just worse than most other options.

No, she was overtuned for the highest ranks where balance matters. Not my fault diamond players miss half of their shots, have terrible blink movement and trash pulse bombs.
She’s my second most played hero and she’s most certainly overtuned in ow1 there’s no debating she’s the best hero in ow1.
Like I said she’s gone from overtuned at the highest ranks to just strong now/a great pick, but because all the tracer mains are used to her being overtuned they think she’s now terrible and the damage nerf just makes diamond and below tracers even worse.
She’s being played in owl and is rated in A or above in pretty much every ow2 tier list…
So when you say overturned what do you mean?
Her numbers before were 6 dmg/bullet at 40 clip magn= 240 dmg in total
Tracer is the “glass cannon” of the game.
Now she’s doing 200 damage in a full clip mind you it’s not an every game thing your even getting 1 one clip.
Compare her to the other dps numbers and she’s easily not putting out as much damage as the others, what about her was overtuned?
The annoying thing is she’s still good just because of her ability to dive heroes with Sombra/Winston
but yeah she’s absolutely not the duelist threat that she was, she’s a support character, nothing more.
There’s no reason to play her in ranked imo, scrims+, sure. But in ranked she’s awful to play, there’s usually a better hero that does more for less effort, I mained Tracer for a LONG time and have barely touched her this season, they killed her for me.

Sombra is the new tracer!
Sombra is incredibly strong right now and she can easily get a kill and escape from almost any situation.
Just hack someone with low mobility in the backline from stealth and by the time they turn around they are already dead. Hack an ana or zen dead. Hack a Rein dead.
Tracer is still really good its just that Sombra is so much better now.
I have no idea why they buffed her hack time so much.
Yeah, I wouldn’t even touch Tracer now. She was way harder to play than most heroes in OW1, but in OW2 she’s straight up unplayable.
Turn down controller aim smoothing and turn on high sensitivity mouse tracking in options. See how it is then. You can still one clip, just have to have the right range and headshots. Stat wise on the boards compared to almost every other dps she is weak, but if your landing your shots at the right time, they can mean just as much. Be ready for tanks calling you garbage for playing safe and having less damage than them. Shes still not as valuable as other dps sadly, better off with a soldier or a soujorn almost all of of the time. Though almost all of my games won climbing from bronze to gold have been on tracer.

Was just in a game with a grav/sticky bomb combo that got a team kill. So theres still that. Lol
I thought echo was the newest glass cannon
There are a lot of bad casual oriented settings that defaulted on which hurt your aim, there are also potentially controller aim smoothing settings bleeding over. After you get them all sorted out it feels mostly normal
She’s still a good duelist against people who can’t self-heal or don’t have any support, like she should still be able to easily 1v1 a genji, but she isn’t gonna have the same impact as one of those characters in the neutral fight because she can’t kill anything nearly as fast as a safer pick. Pulse is also a pretty bad ult with how inconsistent it is, but if you can land a lot of them, then suddenly it’s really good
She’s also still really good if you coordinate with a monkey, better than genji on some maps, but still worse than sombra because Sombra can stage anywhere with zero risk and does enough damage with hack to be more useful than tracer
I suggest getting good at following up on other people’s dmg, pinging everyone you are shooting at, and trying rly hard to make every sticky get a kill
Or just swap to genji or sombra
Tracer is still very good, given now Mccree has no giant aoe stun.
But Sombra is better lol
Nothing changed much, hitscans still rule the game except for Sojourn (she has hitscan oneshot ha). Only Mccree got weaker with lack of stun
Basically, I’m waiting to see where she ends up once we aren’t in Giga Genji mode. He’s outclassing her pretty hard atm.
Yeah she feels horrible now. It’s definitely the damage nerf but also something else that’s really hard to put my finger on. Could be the visuals or audio of her gun, the DPS passive with it’s weird speed changes, generally smaller hitboxes or something else.
And for all the people saying she was overtuned and now is finally in a reasonable spot…

Her winrate in OW1 was sub-50% like all the way up to GM. And even in GM she was outclassed by several heroes. Realistically, very few people on these forums ever played at a level where she was even a better-than-average hero. They probably just have bad memories of the few times a Tracer smurf was in their lobby and have a warped perspective thinking she was overtuned (or watched Leave popoff with her in OWL or something, which isn’t remotely the average player’s experience).
-
Her winrate was sub-50% in the OW2 beta, near the bottom of DPS winrates. And the other bottom DPS like Bastion, Sombra, and Reaper got buffed (Echo was bad and also got ignored which is annoying).
-
I have 100+ hours on Tracer. But I hardly get any value out of her in OW2. Whereas heroes I have far fewer hours on like Sojourn and Genji I can dominate lobbies without even trying. It’s extremely rare to see a Tracer not being the bottom fragger of the lobby on DPS. Ask any Tracer main and they’ll say the same. If that’s not the sign of an underpowered hero, what is?
-
I’ve been playing a lot of support in OW2. I can just ignore Tracers for the most part, even if I’m playing what’s supposed to be her most favorable matchup in Zen. I get so many chances to hit orbs because she just can’t execute kills anymore. And if my other support is helping out? Completely forget about it. A Kiriko and I could sit there healing each other and just laugh as Tracer shoots peas at us, lmao. Oh and pulse bomb is a joke when you have Cleansing Suzu.
-
The changes in OW2 that were supposed to be so favorable for her don’t really affect her that much. The biggest one is the removal of flashbang which was one of her biggest threats, but that was a skill matchup vs. the Cass that you could often avoid. Mei is a non-issue because you can always kite her. Brig 2.0 was no big deal either. Meanwhile the support and tank passives ensure that it is harder to clean up kills and also harder to build pulse bombs.
All in all, I really hope they publish the winrates for heroes after the first season. If Tracer is doing okay I’ll shut up (maybe, lol). If not, I think she should at least get halfway back to her old damage and get 5.5 damage per bullet.
