Is This The Beginning Of The End

I’ve been playing OW since day one of OW1. This is a great game. But Marvel Rivals is on a whole other level. The amount of characters predicted alone rivals Overwatch. The game has a lot of mobility and great abilities. They also have specific team synergies as well. The game isn’t set to release until 2025. This gives the devs to make some much needed changes to certain characters. There are a lot of fix Lifeweaver and Symmetra threads that aren’t really being addressed for example and if they are it’s not fixing their core issues. In Marvel Rivals all the characters seem pretty balance for the most part and they are in alpha phase. I can only imagine what they do for the beta or game release. I hope OW can keep up with the momentum because once Marvel Rivals Esports start, that might be a different story. What do you all think, will OW stand the test of time against Marvel Rivals?

Personally, I never have faith in license based games.

I go by Twitch viewership to assess where the game is standing.

I’ve seen games like The Finals and Palworld rise and fall while OW2 remains on top 20 most viewed.

The IP is better than overwatch for sure.

the next 4 overwatch characters are going to be checkbox random demographic instead of something actually interesting. The game looks so solid and it doesnt come out until 2025? it will be so polished by then.

Please stop comparing these games. Please stop pinning all your disappointed hopes over OW2 on other games. It’s not fair to those games or those developers.

I’m having fun with Rivals. I don’t know how long that’ll be, I don’t know how much longevity is there. What I do know is that I don’t need it to kill or replace OW2.

If anything, look at it as a positive.

Palworld’s release earlier this year - I swear - made Pokemon sweat 1 bead of sweat. Not because it was “the Pokemon killer”. God no. But because people held a lens for the first time in nearly 30 years to a franchise that takes millions from its fans and delivers horrendously subpar, unpolished experiences.

Competition is healthy. It’s self-regulating. Marvel Rivals’ release won’t kill OW2. On the contrary, it should only boost Overwatch. If I didn’t play OW, I’d probably not want to try Marvel Rivals. The inverse can be true for an influx of new blood. Also, Marvel Rivals’ success should only (hopefully) light a fire under the OW2 devs to not slack. They’ll now have competition and will want to deliver a more appealing project for your business.

It looks kinda generic to me and it’s obviously ripping hard from overwatch with the 6v6. It will get boring and lose most players in a month or two. Overwatch is too established to have real competition.

I had that same expression when i saw someone say rivals is better than overwatch

You know they aren’t going to take OW2 away from you right? It’s okay.

yeah that kinda comes with the territory when you’re using a huge IP and are willing to pull up C-tier characters like “Luna Snow” and “Magik”

In Marvel Rivals all the characters seem pretty balance for the most part and they are in alpha phase

brother it came out less than 24 hours ago nobody knows jack about the balance at this point in time

Competition is always good.

By what I have seen so far, Marvel Rivals already is an incredibly polished game with tons of dedication behind the scenes. Heroes look great, Levels look interesting, Gameplay looks demanding.

I certainly will check MR out. Moreover, since OW2 has become CodWatch since Season 9, I am looking forward to a slower and more tactical game that MR seems to be.

I’ll go on the record and say it definitely isn’t balanced. And that’s ok.

It looks extremely boring. Everyone moves like they’re walking through molasses and time to kill is measured in hours.

And its also a mobile game made by a mobile game company, who knows what kind of rootkit malware they put on your PC

Probably, yeah.

I’d welcome any worthwhile competitor, that just means they have to put in more effort for Overwatch, but I doubt this will be it. Just like every other game before it wasn’t it.

People definitely want this to be it, though. I mean hey, if you like it, play it, who cares :woman_shrugging: no point predicting anything.

Marvel slop will never beat Overwatch

Why does it have to be Rivals vs OW2 to you? You can play both (eventually) … for free even.

That’s a waste of time when Overwatch is better

 I see where your issue lay now.
