Is there anyone else not excited about "6 vs 6"?

I wanna know, if there is anyone feeling like me:
I hated transition to 5 v 5 as a support main, but after so much time of changing my whole playstyle, I just don´t want to go through it again. I finaly got used to this format and started to enjoy it somehow. Not sure if going back is what I want anymore. It means learning new (old) ways all over again.
My muscle memory hates the idea.

At no point in time have I wanted 6v6 back

I’m of the same opinion. OW had several years to try out 6v6. We are literally in 1-2 years of 5v5. The transitions are not solved in a year. I think 5v5 has done an amazing job at allowing significantly more top tier variety of play than ever before.

Tank synergy in OW1 was so damn in important that doing weird things was far worse. Now, oddball combinations work way better than it ever did before under 6v6. Which is exactly what I want to see.

I feel like my first 6 - 8 months was hell before I got used to it.

I don’t like being the only tank but there just weren’t enough tank players because the role was boring. I don’t enjoy 5v5 as a tank player, but it’s here to stay all the same. But no body cares if tank player have fun, every other mark and their mother has to feel good about playing their role.

Is 6v6 a guaranteed thing at this point?

I have no idea, I just see lot of people wanting it back and I wonder, if there are people like me, who hate to learn new playstyle all over again.

It doesn’t hurt to consider the possibility, I suppose. I would love to return to 6v6 because I think it was better, but unfortunately it is hard to have hope around here.

I think the devs will talk a lot in the upcoming 6v6 dev blog, but they aren’t going to say anything.

Its not that its guaranteed in the slightest, but its more that we will finally be getting an update from a dev blog update from Aaron regarding the view point of 6v6.

Depending upon what is in there will lead to other things. My expectation is that transitioning from 5v5/6v6 is pointless to keep doing on such a short time scale. We have far more time to try out other things.

I think they keep this option to calm the angry crowd, because it´s probably easier, than deliver promised things.

I can see why it’d be annoying, but personally I tend to get used to these things after a short time. When season nine first landed I noticed my accuracy per game increased because of the hitbox changes, but after the first week or so it simply became the new normal. There are a bunch of people who still find it jarring, though.

Although I think the TL;DR of the upcoming blog is going to be “222 RQ isn’t coming back because of queue times” and that’s about it.

It’s largely the same crap wrapped in different colored paper. I will say for certain though, that trolls, leavers, and cheaters have much more agency/power in the 5v5 format. Role-queue exacerbates this issue even further, but that is another thread.

I am relatively adaptable myself and could do either format. I do not even give up in 4v5 matches as I have won those often enough. At least with my Sistah Spice present. If it is just randoms, GG unless it was one of those auto-win match ups after you go on a loss streak.

As for still finding season 6 jarring. Yes. I do. Ever since that season I baby raged and picked up Reinhardt because landing shots does not bring me dopamine any longer; however, on my alt account (which is now ranked higher than my main on DPS because Sombra) I cannot believe the shots I am landing. I land less in games with stronger aim assist than this game.

Season 9 was so bad that I do not care about XiM cheaters anymore. I can genuinely compete with them because the projectiles as massive.

It is the safest option from their perspective, I’d say. Some 6v6 players won’t leave if there is a chance they will get their game back, and 5v5 players stick around because their format is still here.

But the game has problems, and radio silence builds frustration. I’m not sure if what they’ve been doing so far will last for much longer.

I also still believe, that they are able to make “Overwatch classic” and sell it back to us, as they did with WOW. They would piss a lot of people here xD

Honestly, I’d buy it. Not proud of that, but I know in my heart that I’d buy it.

The original game was worth the money I spent on it back in 2019.

If they do bring it back, I expect it to be arcade-only, initially, and very likely with the pseudo-role-queue like they have done with the recent Communitywatch mode.

Nothing to do with muscle memory, I just enjoy 5v5 more than 6v6. I miss some of the old tank interactions and strategies (Dva + Winston, Rein + Zar) but overall I prefer the pace and gameplay of 5v5. I’m not excited about a potential return to 6v6. Not outright hating the idea but definitely not excited nor my preference as it stands.

I do want 6v6 back but that would also entail gutting Sigma. I feel like he was the core problem. He fit into every composition, and added a shield + high damage to the composition.

He was the whole reason double shield happened. He was the reason that role queue sucked. I feel like 6v6 could have been much better - not saved, not perfect - but a lot better if he was just gutted. Even now in 5v5 with barely any changes, he’s able to solo tank. That should tell you how busted he was.

If he didn’t exist, I feel like 6v6 could be much more palatable.

That said, I have little hope. The dev team has been on the path of, "Yeah we hear you, we know a lot of people want it back. We’re not going to do that, instead we are going to feebly attempt to make this idea work  "

I’m pretty ambivalent. I do think 6v6 is a better format but I don’t think it’s going to solve much as long as the balance and hero design philosophy stays the same.
Likewise, I think 5v5 could probably work if the devs knew what they were doing.

No point in making the switch if Blizzard is still going to powercreep everything.
