I’m hoping to play Overwatch again someday, I just can’t anymore. The 2 main cheats have over 100k users each, and 5+ smaller cheats have about the same combined. They have completely saturated the game.
I would pay money for a Overwatch service that had real cheat detection, I’m gaming homeless right now and need a casual competitive game.

Sorry, it does have cheat detection. You will have to find another game.
It’s a cat and mouse game. Once they have patched a cheat, they will just bypass it within the next hour/1day. Look at valorant agressive anti cheat at kernel level. It still has cheaters.
If a cheater is detected it’s the one that download a cheap/free hack or is a clueless guy that made it too obvious getting caught but the premium/paid private hacks will almost never get detected.

It is not a cat and mouse game as so many people on this forum claim.
For it to be a cat and mouse game, the cat would have to be allowed to enter the house where the mouse is.
Blizzard has decided against this approach.
The mouse has a clear advantage and unless it is an extremely stupid mouse,
it knows the traps inside the house and does not go outside.

Wish anti cheat in this game was more elusive and server-side. E.g. adding noregs, introducing microstutter or random lag spikes, increasing queue times, removing and restoring cosmetics randomly, breaking voice and text chat, ignoring reports, failing to load into comp games, pretending keys were hit when they are not, forcing playing voicelines to enemies only, etc.
Basically the anticheat should make hackers question if they have been detected up until they are actually banned. Even better if it makes hackers question their sanity.
Hmm, actually I wonder if some of the above has already been implemented. I see a lot of complaints from people that I never have experienced.

and give loses to the team the cheater gets on?
the state of cheating is ridiculous. You can still get good at this game, but yeah. Its worth accepting that it will always be this way, more or less, so don’t sweat it too hard when you get rolled. There’s lots of reasons why games can be very unbalanced… Cheaters are sad, but if you play to improve, then they dont completely destroy the fun of comp.
Its funny to look at t500 leaderboards after a season and see how many people got banned from each server and role. I remember I think it was s31 there were like 90 players in asia banned in t500 dps. It was insane lol. That’s like, in a t500 lobby, almost 1 cheating dps per game on average. That got caught and banned

cheat manufactures are keep bypassing it…bobby kotick needs to go after manufacture peeps and tell them to pay up or end up in prison for cfaa among other things
Not saying cheats don’t exist but i see very few cheaters in my lobbies. Maybe people are not or cant be blatant but i think most are genuine.
I think at this point people expect you to cheat because so many are doing it. The most easiest way to detect them is when playing a character like Torg. If they start shooting your turret as soon as it lands and no matter where you are, they are using hacks. Also another indication is when they consistently achieve head shots no matter the distance.
Don’t waste your time telling them they are using hacks, they will swear they ain’t on a stack of bibles while standing on their gmom’s grave.
Like in every game? Yes.
They actually have done this, and more than once.
This was in April - " Blizzard wins $8 million judgment against Overwatch cheat maker"
Yeah, exactly this.
A lot of people who create cheats, create them knowing that their cheat will easily be detected within 24-48hrs, but certain gamers don’t care… they’ll still spend their money on it, and after they get caught, create a new account and buy yet another 1 to 2 day cheat.
It’s a game of whack-a-mole… I feel for the game devs because all they can do is just keep trudging forward, banning the ones they do find, while knowing full well all it does it set those cheaters back by only a day or two.
There is a big difference between cheat detection in Overwatch and what Valorant does.
I try to keep it simple and stick to this cat and mouse analogy.
In Overwatch, if you follow a few well-tested rules, you won’t get caught cheating.
- Don’t pick up food from the ground, eat only what is on the table.
- If people are on their way to check the kitchen, you should not be there.
- If the fridge turns into a black hole during mapload, don’t go near it.
Valorant’s cheat detection is more like having a cat in the house.
The cat can smell you, it can hear you, and it’s willing to wait 2 hours in the dark for you to make your move.
Of course, it won’t catch every mouse on the first try, but that’s only a matter of time. After some time, word gets around and many will not even take this risk anymore because it is not worth it.
Sure, having a cat in the house has its drawbacks, you have to feed it and take care of it,
but it’s the best way to get rid of mice.
(yes, this is about protection rings)

Never even gave valorant a try because I don’t want any root kits on my machine, even if I were able to get it working under a VM.
